By and large, for simple tasks, you can use almost anything that you like for ordinary photos and videos. But there are nuances. Perhaps some programs (in my practice, they did not come across) knock down metadata, and the image after processing is not recognized as spherical. Absolutely, programs that do not specifically support spherical panoramas do not allow you to draw something on the image so that it looks correct. Here's what I had to use:

In fact, the problem arose just with the update 3.8.0 (dated December 18) for Windows - it does not convert or play video. The manufacturer has been hiding for now, although complaints from around the world are wallowing :(. I found a randomly preserved version 3.2.2 (from December 17), in the application, until it is fixed, you can use it, it definitely works with the video.
