Description:
FaceApp application to change facial expressions came out on Android
Last month, the FaceApp application appeared in the App Store, which changes human facial expressions using neural networks. Now this program is also available to owners of Android devices.
FaceApp is very similar to another popular application Prisma, which uses artificial intelligence technology to impose artistic styles on a photo. FaceApp sends the original image to a remote server where it is processed. The content of the image also changes. For example, a gloomy person can be turned into a happy one.
The application allows users to add a smile, make a person younger or older, and even change sex. Naturally, the results can be unpredictable. Downloaded photos are stored on the company's servers and after applying the filters are deleted. Unlike other similar programs, FaceApp does not require suspicious permissions.
The developer of FaceApp is the Russian company Wireless Lab. Its executive director, Yaroslav Goncharov, who previously held a management position at Yandex, plans to further develop the capabilities of image processing by neural networks. It is possible that in the near future they will be implemented as part of the FaceApp application. The issue of monetization of the program is not considered yet.
