Here will be described methods to solve the problem with the modem and IMEI in the phones Mi4 WCDMA, Mi3 WCDMA, REDMI 1S and other devices based on QUALCOMM. (enter * # 06 # to check IMEI) !!! All methods described below are best carried out using Win7 or XP, while using Win 8.0 or 8.1 some functions may not be supported. !!!
Before you begin any actions with your phone, you need to know the following:
IN CASE OF ERROR - YOUR TELEPHONE WILL BE BLOCKED
Sometimes with unofficial firmwares - IMEI or modem becomes unknown or invalid.
When deleting some sections (MODEMST1, MODEMST2, FSG), in the internal memory of the phone, IMEI becomes invalid or 0.
Sometimes with official firmware, an invalid IMEI is obtained or the modem is blocked.
What are the symptoms of an erroneous imei and blocked modem device?
- no IMEI or unknown IMEI
- redmi 1s second SIM card slot - invalid IMEI
- invalid IMEI
- IMEI looks like 0 or 000000000000000
- sim card not detected
- no network
- lack of mobile network options (in phones with one SIM card)
- Unknown modem in the menu "About phone"

Before you do something, remove the SIM card from the phone.

1 method For Mi3 and REDMI 1S
(fastboot method) Reason: if you were flashing through fastboot / recovery (official or unofficial ROM) and your device received an unknown IMEI or unknown modem in the menu "About phone" you need to do the following: (you must have adb and fastboot properly installed)
- turn off the device
- Press the Volume down + power button and go to the bootloader (fastboot)
- open the folder with fastboot in the command line (for example, cd c: / fastboot)
- enter the following:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot
Now, after rebooting the device, check if there is still a problem.
If the problem is not solved - do this:
- Copy the NON-HLOS.bin file from fastboot rom and paste it into the folder with fastboot / adb installed
- open the folder with fastboot in the command line
- enter the following:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.BIN
fastboot flash modem1 NON-HLOS.BIN (dont run this command if device is REDMI 1S)
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot
After rebooting the device, check if there is still a problem. (enter * # 06 # to check IMEI)
If the problem is not solved - go ahead.
- If everything is fine with the modem, but imei determines 0 or 000000000000000 - use the QPST method described below.
- if both the modem and imei are missing or unknown, then you could have done something wrong, repeat the procedure described above (you can even several times).
2 method if both the modem and imei are missing or unknown, then you could have done something wrong, repeat the procedure described above (you can even several times).
Before you do something, remove the SIM card from the phone.
2 method
For Mi3 and REDMI 1S
(QPST method) Reason: if the device imei is 0 or 0000000000000000 and the modem is normal (the modem is defined in the "About phone" menu) do this (QPST (link at the end of the method) - downloaded and installed):
- turn on the phone (SIM card previously deleted)
- dial * # * # 717717 # * # * (usb message will appear DIAG mode Enabled) - this is a diagnostic mode (DM mode) for qualcomm devices
- connect the phone to the computer
- Some new devices will be found and automatically installed drivers for them (except 4 devices with the name Mi3),
- but don't worry, just check the Com ports in the device manager - two devices will be installed DIAG and NMEA with a yellow warning icon (in the device manager)
Do not worry, just restart the computer and before starting the download, press F8, in the menu that appears, select DISABLE SIGNATURE OF DRIVERS
- after selecting, the computer will continue to boot
- after downloading go to the device manager>Ports (COM and LPT)>There will be no yellow warning icon.
Then run the QPST Configuration
A new device will appear in the COM ports tab.
- go from the current tab to the tab "service programming"
- Click OK, then click Read from Phone (Read), the following window will appear.
- Click OK again (SPC 000000 is the default)
- then go to the NAS tab and fill in the first 14 digits of your IMEI (the native IMEI is listed on the box) in the TAC, FAC and SNR fields. After that press the LUHN CHECK DIGIT button.
- After completing the preceding paragraphs, press the Write button.
After writing to the phone is finished, disconnect it from the computer and dial * # * # 717717 # * # * (the message usb will appear. DIAG mode Disable) - this is the diagnostic mode (DM mode) disabled.
We are overloading the phone.
Now check the IMEI. Dial * # 06 # and look.
- if imei is 0 or 000000000000000, and everything is fine with the modem, we repeat the procedure again.
- if imei and modem are invalid, then we repeat everything from the beginning, starting with the first method.
There is another method, but you can only follow it if both methods described above did not help. Restart the computer and before starting the download, press F8, in the menu that appears, select DISABLE SIGNATURE OF DRIVERS
- pull out the sim card
- turn on the phone
- transfer to usb diag mode enable (* # * # 717717 # * # *)
- connect the phone to the computer
- run QPST configuration
- go to the folder with qpst installed (c: \ program files \ QUALCOMM \ qpst \ bin \)
- find RF_NV_MANAGER.exe
- run it
- go to SETTINGS>comport>select comport your phone and click ok
- then go file>read
- after executing the Read command>go to "view and search imei" (without quotes)
- nv item 550 (item nv 550)
- Enter your IMEI to IMEI Converter and after receiving the converted IMEI enter RF_NV_MANAGER
- check box hexadecimal
- click write nv
- may pop up errors, do not pay attention and click OK
- after successful completion of the process, disconnect the phone from the computer
- transfer to usb diag mode Disable (* # * # 717717 # * # *)
- reboot the phone and check imei * # 06 #
- if imei and modem are invalid, then do the first one first and check imei (* # 06 #) again.
- if imei is 0, and with the modem everything is fine - then repeat the second method or again.
REMEMBER - we are not responsible for what may happen with your device !!!
