Have you ever felt that one charger / USB cable kit charges the device very quickly and the other doesn't? Now you can prove it with amps.
Measure the charge and discharge current of the battery.
The app runs on Android 4.0.3+ devices. Not every device is supported, because there are devices in which the corresponding measurement chip (or interface) is missing, and they cannot be supported at all. Please read the list of unsupported phones at the end of the description.
The application does not have to be mA accurate. This is only to assess which charger / USB cable combo works best for you on one device.
Launch the app and wait for about 10 seconds ("measurement" on the display). After this time, charging or discharging current will be shown.
The current depends on many things:
- Charger (USB / AC / Wireless)
- USB cable
- Phone type
- Current tasks in progress
- Display brightness
- WiFi status
- GPS status
Please do not use the readings on this app as a specific science. However, the readings are good enough to relate to measurement, like different chargers and USB cables are fair on the same device.
Unfortunately, some Samsung devices do not give correct (measured) values (for example: S5), just the maximum possible charging current with an actual USB configuration / charger cable. This is a firmware issue.
About notification and background measurement:
- Measurement works in the background only if you enable notifications in the settings.
- You can hide the notification icon by setting the notification priority to the minimum.
----
Background: The app measures the charge / discharge current of the battery. If your phone is not connected to a charger, you see a discharge current that is negative. When you connect the charger, the current that the charger gives will be used to power the phone and the charge is charged to the battery.
If your phone consumes 300 mA without a charger connected (-300mA on the display), then the mA charger 500 will charge its maximum battery with 200 mA (200 mA on the display).
----
Technical Information: Displays the current average of 50 measurements minus 10 upper values and 10 lower values. The current displayed can be wobbly and unstable or even just zero, which means that the Android system provides such unstable values. Each company uses different types of batteries and other equipment makes it
It is difficult to get accurate charger results.
----
LiPo batteries do not draw the maximum for the full time required to charge the phone. If your battery is almost fully charged, the charging current will be much less, as at lower battery levels.
