FAQ on custom rekaveri

Recovery.img enters the structure android, has the same core (kernel), and that boot.img + additional modules to work in rekaveri mode (recovery / ramdisk / sbin), and graphics (recovery / ramdisk / res), collected from the entire firmware or a separate command for compiling recovery from various sources (mainly within the project CyanogenMod - CWM recovery, with the rest going to the addition and / or replacement parts source provided by the authors Custom recovery) under a specific phone model. CWM recovery developedKoushik dutta(Kushik Dutta, "Kush") in 2009. for CyanogenMod.

Of the main features custom rekaveri are the following functions:
  • Backing up the firmware image (the backup)
  • Restoring a backup firmware image (hereinafter referred to simply restore)
  • Possibility to install updates are not signed by the manufacturer (hereinafter update, update or update.zip)
  • View and create a log works rekaveri (show, create log)
  • Mounting system blocks (mount storage)
  • Mounting external sdcard (mount usb storage)
  • Optional cleaning (wipe / format) System
How to reboot your phone in recovery mode:
  • Clamp simultaneously shortcut [Vol +] [Cl Central.] [Power]
  • utilityreboot recovery
  • If the phone is in recovery mode by holding down the key combination is not translated, it is necessary to turn it off, hold down the key combination and let go after 3-4 seconds after the screen saver "Samsung Galaxy SIII"
  • Command as rootterminal: Reboot recovery
  • As root throughadb
Installing custom recovery:
  • Without a root installation is done by the firmware file (.tar, .tar.md5) program Odin Multi Loader, in the PDA field (see. Thread Official Firmware). Any custom rekaveri.
  • In the presence of root (cm. Thread Official Firmware) programMobile odin(Discussing application in the profile subject). Any custom rekaveri.
  • In the presence of root programAndroid Terminal Emulator. Unpack the archive with the custom rekaveri (eg byВ® Root Explorer (File Manager)), Transfer the image (img) in the root of the carrier run Android Terminal Emulator app and enter the following commands:
    su
    dd if = / media / recovery.img of = / dev / block / mmcblk0p6
    Where the carrier is either internal / sdcard, or external / storage / extSdCard, i.e. command should be:dd if = / sdcard / recovery.img ...ordd if = / storage / extSdCard / recovery.img
This way you can install any custom or stock rekaveri.
  • In the presence of root programRom manager. Only CWM and CWM Touch (see. Description).
  • In the presence of root programGomanager. Only TWRP (cm. Description).
  • In the presence of root programRecovery Tools - Flasher(Any custom rekaveri).
The consequences of the installation of a custom rekaveri:
  • The presence of a custom rekaveri on Samsung devices by contactingASCautomatically void the limited warranty, but you no one bothers to make a backup of the system and flash the stock rekaveri (see. below).
  • Firmware rekaveri of a custom designed for your model, can not kill the machine.
  • Custom rekaveri during operation in the normal mode does not affect the duration of battery life.
Backing up the firmware image (the backup):
  • Feature called backup (to internal-internal or external-external memory).
All custom rekaveri create a backup copy of the kernel image (boot.img), the system partition (/ system), the user partition (/ data), the temporary storage section (/ cache).
TWRP and PhilZ create optional backup image of rekaveri (recovery.img, both), section / efs (efs.ext4.tar, efs.ext4.win, efs.img, in TWRP at the level of this section, in PhilZ created separately, see. the description), a modem (modem.bin, in PhilZ created separately see. the description)
Restoring a backup firmware image (hereinafter referred to simply restore):
  • All custom rekaveri restore their own backups. TWRP PhilZ and optionally reduced (see. The description)
Installation is not signed by the manufacturer for updates (the update, update, or update.zip):
  • Through custom rekaveri can sew kernel image rekaveri, efs, the firmware (not just the ones that are packed under the Odin Odin), modems, individual files packed in zip-archive for installation through rekaveri (see. The disclosure of fashion, firmware). Installation is made through a point install (install update.zip).
Optional cleaning (wipe / format) system):
  • Deleting files (data), the formatting of the selected partition. In different versions of custom rekaveri works differently (see. Description)
When update.zip firmware, backup, restore, backup and actions fall various bugs:
  • View a log of the work of a custom rekaveri possible through point show log. Log will be displayed directly in the recovery mode.
  • Create the log by using the tool create log (see. The description of a particular version). After the reboot, log will be available on one of the carriers.
  • View log after restarting the path /cache/recovery/last.log
How to restore the stock recovery:
  • Using the software, Mobile Odin (See above.) To select the firmware to select only part of the recovery firmware flash.
  • With the help of Android Terminal Emulator Program (See above.)
  • Replace stock rekaveri in the archive with the custom rekaveri and flash archive last.
On devices Samsung adb sideload feature does not work. It is designed for installation by the manufacturer signed (ota-update) updates. Some manufacturers of devices spread such updates on the official websites, where users can download and install them throughadb(Adroid debug bridge).
How to extract files from a backup:
  • Backups format .ext4.tar any archive computer or mobile device (e.g.,В® Root Explorer (File Manager)
  • The desired unit backup format in .ext4.win rename .tar and extract as described above
  • applicationВ® Nandroid ManagerYou can restore both applications and data. You can also restore sms, contacts and call log
