What is DFU mode and what is it for?
How is DFU different?Recovery Mode(recovery mode)?

DFU (device firmware update) - A special mode designed to completely reinstall the firmware of your device. In the process of reinstalling via DFU on the device, the following is performed:
  • bootloader firmware;
  • bootloader start;
  • firmware of all additional modules;
  • creating file system partitions;
  • flashing system partitions.
Many people confuse DFU mode withRecovery mode(recovery mode). ATRecovery modeThe screen shows the USB cable and the iTunes icon.In DFU mode, there are no identifiers on the screen, the screen is completely black.
Difference dfu andRecovery Modeis that a fundamentally different approach to recovery is used.

Recovery Mode- software firmware mode, in which recovery mode is similar to Windows rollback to a previously created restore point. The main system files are not affected, but only the settings and parameters are restored.
DFU is the bootloader mode. Recovery in this mode is similar to a complete system reinstallation when the necessary components are recreated.

How to enter DFU mode?

  • Get ready for the countdown.
  • At the same time, press and hold the Home button (at the bottom of the front panel) and the Power button (at the top); Hold the buttons down for 10 seconds.
  • Release the Power button (at the top), while continuing to hold the Home button (at the bottom of the front panel).
  • Hold the Home key until iTunes detects a new device in recovery mode (approximately 10-20 seconds).
  • Now you can safely flash your device. To restore to the current version of iOS, simply agree with the suggestions of the wizard: iTunes will download the firmware on its own and carry out all the necessary manipulations.
