Usually, the firmware update in Garmin sports devices occurs in semi-automatic mode. If the next firmware update to your clock, a fitness tracker or a bike performance came out, then the new firmware is loaded into your device during the next synchronization via Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile. You only have to confirm the installation of the update by pressing the Start button on the device. But sometimes it happens that you need to install the firmware yourself - for example, if you want to install a beta firmware, "roll back" the firmware on an earlier version or restore your device after any failure, reflashing it with the actual firmware. You can do this in several ways.
Method №1: by downloading the firmware files directly to the device
The first thing we download the firmware that will be installed. All versions of both stable and beta firmware can be downloaded from the links below. The latest beta firmware can be downloaded from the official website of GARMIN. We find the desired firmware for your device, download and unpack. The archive may contain not only the system firmware, the firmware also for the display, for Wi-Fi, for the GPS-sensor, etc., as well as the language files. We still only interested in the system firmware - this file GUPDATE.GCD.
Connect your device cable to USB-port of your computer and, when the clocks are recognized as a storage device via any file manager throws this file to watch the directory GARMIN.
Turning off the unit from the computer USB-ports and in response to a message displayed on the screen of her readiness to confirm the firmware installation.
After the firmware installation process is complete, it is recommended to turn off the unit for half a minute and then on again as usual.
If, in addition to the system firmware, you want to update other firmware, such as the display firmware or the built-in pulse sensor, the firmware files you take in other directories in the unpacked archive. Directory have completely understood names and what is not difficult to understand. These firmware are installed in the same way, but you need to throw them into the Garmin / Remotesw directory. Cleared, turned off the clock, confirmed the installation. If you want to update or restore language files, then from the unpacked archive in the Text directory you take the desired files and download them into the instrument into the Garmin / Text directory. It is not necessary to confirm anything. Language files come into force immediately after loading into the device.
The method described above is suitable for a fresh install beta firmware, but to roll back to earlier versions of the firmware will not do. Some Garmin devices refuse to establish such outdated firmware with their point of view. There is another way.
Method №2: using the Garmin WebUpdater program
Download the desired file (or files) on the links mentioned in paragraph 1 of the first method. Unpack the archive.
Download Garmin WebUpdaterpo link program -
http: //www8.garmin.com...p product = 999-99999-27?. Install and run.
Connect your Garmin device cable to USB-port the computer and wait until the device is recognized by the newly established program Garmin WebUpdater.
Then follow the prompts. It Upload your file to the desired location in the device.
After that, disconnect the device from the USB-ports and confirm the installation of firmware.
Other flash (display, sensors, etc.), as well as the language files are installed in the same way. WebUpdater program itself knows they should be cast into any directory. You only need to specify which files you want to install. Incidentally, to simplify the process, you can simply drag and drop the firmware file with the mouse on the WebUpdater program shortcut, which you can pre-create on your desktop.
IMPORTANT: all the manipulation of firmware update is done only when sufficient (at least 85-90%), the battery charge!
These are the two most popular method of self-piercing sports watches, fitness trackers and bike computers Garmin. In fact, self-installing firmware - a very simple process. And even if you have done something wrong, then you are unlikely to spoil your garminovskimi device - or the firmware may not have installed, or will be able to return to the current firmware, or other sewing of repeat unit in the correct sequence.
