Hello.

Tell me please. There is a need to carry your "working comp" with you, to work and home.

Work full stack web developer (phpstorm, vagrant with virtualbox, many tabs in the browser).

Theoretically, you can work on the 15-17 "screen, if only fullhd.

But I doubt the usability: in the first place, the screen is smaller, in the second, the keyboard is not full.

Therefore, I suppose that it is more convenient to have normal monitors with a wireless keyboard / mouse both at work and at home. And connect to them a laptop / nettop.

My preliminary searches gave the following requirements: i5 or higher, 8GB (preferably 16), SSD.

What to choose a laptop or nettop? And which?

The budget is $ 1000 + -.

I tend to nout more as it has wider scenarios of use. But if the nettop gives significant advantages over the laptop (price, performance), then it can be.

Thank!

The Thinkpad keyboard is quite full and comfortable. On e580 money is enough. The Dell Latitude has Fifties too.

Dell G5 do not praise. This model is positioned as a game. At the same time with a flimsy case, it will fall apart from the frequent transfer, and quickly. Lenovo Legion then, especially, now it is in some places with a good discount, which, by the way, ends almost todayhttps: //www.citilink.r...ile/notebooks/1086009/.

Not. Seeds only for consumption now do.

Something straight good examples without problematic nettop not found. On this choice went in the direction of laptops, I suffer between:

1. LENOVO ThinkPad E580, 15.6 ", IPS, Intel Core i5 8250U 1.6GHz, 8GB, 1000GB, Intel UHD Graphics 620, noOS, 20KS006HRT
2. DELL G3 3779, 17.3 ", IPS, Intel Core i5 8300H 2.3 GHz, 8 GB, 1000 GB, nVidia GeForce GTX 1050 - 4096 MB, Linux, G317-7534
3. ASUS VivoBook X705UB-GC229, 17.3 ", IPS, Intel Core i5 8250U 1.6GHz, 8GB, 1000GB, 128GB SSD, nVidia GeForce Mx110 - 2048 MB, Endless, 90NB0IG2-M02560
4. ASUS VivoBook Pro N705UD-GC073, 17.3 ", Intel Core i5 8250U 1.6 GHz, 8 GB, 1000 GB, nVidia GeForce GTX 1050 - 2048 MB, Endless, 90NB0GA1-M02090
5. LENOVO IdeaPad 330-17ICH, 17.3 ", IPS, Intel Core i5 8300H 2.3 GHz, 8 GB, 1000 GB, 128 GB SSD, nVidia GeForce GTX 1050 - 4096 MB, Free DOS, 81FL0047RU

Or even one and a half times cheaper and easier to take:
ASUS VivoBook X507UA-BQ671, 15.6 ", IPS, Intel Core i3 8130U 2.2GHz, 8GB, 128GB SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620, Endless, 90NB0HI1-M09690

* Trupp,

I understand that you think that all these 17s somehow lose in the quality of the E580?

Yes and no. In terms of build quality, they do not differ, but models for consumer have a lot of problems by design. Especially in terms of survivability. Numbers 2, 3, and 4 can fall apart from frequent carry over the year. Number 5 is nothing, but in terms of upgrading it is very problematic. To disassemble it, something without breaking is extremely difficult. And the upgrade is required.
