Installation

Normal installation:
Current versions are installed as regular APKs.
If your device initially did not have Google Phone as a stock call program or you install a clone assembly (which will be indicated in the mod description), then Google Phone is put on the second ring in the system. In this case, you must select a new "Application for calls" in the settings.Here are the details with pictures.
Also some additional permissions are required to work. For example, for the operation of the "floating button" in the mods, you need the permission "On top of other applications".

Installing APK as a system application :
Root rights are required.

1. Copy apk to / system / priv-app / GoogleDialer;
   
2. Set permissions -rw-r-r-;

The problem is that the firmware does not consider the installed Google Phone alien to it as an important system process and unloads it from memory on timeout like any other program to save energy. And he, naturally, needs time to start in a new way.
You can try to add a GP to all possible exceptions (and there may be a great many such in different firmware). But even this is not a fact that will help. On phones from huawei with their emui it is practically useless.

If you're lucky, then the appointment of the application "phone" by default in the "application" section of system-wide settings. If you are not lucky, then by installing the priv-app in the priv-app and removing the stock dialer (you need root). All this is in the faq and in the cap.
