Street photography, street photography - the genre of photographs taken in a public place: on the street, in a park, on the beach, etc. Street photography is documentary, but is not limited solely to the documentary genre.

The theme is dedicated to street photography - one of the most interesting genres of art and documentary photography. Everyone is welcome, amateurs and connoisseurs of street photos! As we agreed, the topic will not have strict rules (at least until most of the participants want to introduce them). Pictures are taken from any device (cameras, mobile phones, tablets, etc.) Lively discussion with elementsfloodinghumor is welcome! : clapping:

For example, I’ll attach a few shots in the street photography genre from wonderful photographers.

And this is one of the famous frames of authorship by Henri Cartier-Bresson - a man who is considered to be the founder of the genre: foto:

A little explanation
Photographed at the royal palace in Barcelona. The guide explained that this is a Romanian gypsy (the proud Catalans will never beg, they can even be offended with a tip). I called the brow “sir”, gave him the euro and asked for permission to take a picture. Chel mumbled something, which I regarded as agreement. It is strange that the police are not chasing him. Maybe a local attraction?

By the way, can this be considered a street photo? The genre, in my opinion, is very vague.

Maybe yes. Another thing is that here the street photo borders on another topic (if I do not confuse anything) - a street portrait. Senior comrades can tell whether it is an independent genre or is included as a separate segment in street photography (which would be logical).
The following 2 pictures are really cool: good:

Good resources! I know them too. Dmitry Markov is an incredibly wonderful photographer! Nuns in the first message - his snapshot: yes2:

I learned from Wikipedia that street photography is not necessarily on the street; can be in any public place (including indoors). Well this is what operational space! True, in other rooms they can be fined, or even kicked.

Somewhere and outdoors they can kick :)

And only photos taken only within the settlements are suitable here?

For myself, I can’t formulate to the end what street photography is. Probably this is non-stop photography within the public space, where the object of the shooting is the person (s) and the man-made world around him. Although this wording is incomplete, because you can shoot not only a person, but also animals on the street, you can shoot the city itself. In addition, I strongly suspect that staging in street photography still exists. And even great photographers do it. The main thing is to use the production only in cases where these are additional touches in the picture, and not the picture itself, not its essence.

In my opinion, only these photos. For example, photos from the festival of reenactors in nature will not work here.

Well, summarized from the phrase
Taking pictures in public places, such as railways, metro or churches
Still useful to look at the concept of "public space", but bogged down in a legal quagmire.

And if not already within the administrative boundaries, but also not a wild forest or field? :)

It seems to me that the border passes through the habitats of people. If people are taken in the photo, but they are not in the place of their habitual habitat, then this is not a street photo. And if a remote village is filmed, with several grandparents, then the street. This is a subject for discussion. There are many people who will say differently.

... add. In the habitats of people, but not in their homes. Photos in public places.
