advised dell as a company with good build quality and materials
I already wrote in this thread about BIOS problems - with permission I will describe all my misadventures with this laptop.
I bought, installed Windows, downloaded the Dell support assist program from the offline site. She independently downloaded the necessary drivers, and with them updated the BIOS to version 1.3.2 (despite the fact that the site at that time was only 1.2.0). After that, each download, from the moment it was turned on until the Dell logo appeared, began to take a minute and a half. Process video
https://youtu.be/KnUDgunosU4On the one hand, everything seemed to work on, on the other hand, it was sometimes unbearable to look at the black screen for two minutes with a banal restart of Windows, while Windows itself loaded in 2-3 seconds.
At the same time, it was not possible to flash other firmware using standard tools - from Windows, the BIOS menu. It turned out only in a tricky way, thanks to the local recommendations, with pressing the keys and turning on the power cord, but subsequent flashing and all kinds of changes to the settings did not work. At the same time, the BIOS power logs were accompanied by strange error messages.
Internet searches of similar problems unfortunately did not lead to anything.
Despite the fact that 14 days have not passed since the purchase, the laptop was bought in Moscow with delivery, there is no warranty department of the store in the city, the only option is to send it by Russian Post, tried my best to solve the problem yourself.
Calls to Dell tech support boiled down to “just contact a service center.” There were 3 service centers in the city, having gone to the first one at the dictated address, he told everything that had happened, after which I had to make excuses for a long time that I was not a camel to a nervous uncle, that I didn’t know what I had flashed myself, and it couldn’t flash itself. I tried to find out if this is a warranty case, in order to understand whether it is worth sending it to the store - the only answer was, leave, according to the law, only repair up to 45 days. They do not give swap laptops, who should give do not know.
Going to the second sc, they told me the same thing, up to 45 days, only a repair, no replacement laptops.
Returning home, I decided to describe the problem in detail on the Dell forum - dell.com/community, in the hope of fixing the problem myself.
Registered, described in detail everything in English, attached the recorded video to YouTube, when published, the post was sent for some moderation. I waited almost a day, new topics appear, but for some reason I didn’t know. For some reason, it was also not displayed in the profile as waiting for moderation - I created a topic with a description again. After a while while trying to log in - We're sorry, but you have banned from using this site for the following reason: spam.
There is nothing to do, I am writing an application for a refund to the warranty department of the store, they say that they will be sent for examination to a service center and then they will decide on a refund. It is not entirely true that it is clear why not a single service center in my city was able to conduct the same examination.
Having written a bunch of papers, he sent the laptop by Russian Post to Moscow.
Now I’m waiting with my fingers crossed that everything will reach without breaking, and the results of the examination are unknown when. Almost immediately after the purchase, I installed the SSD in the laptop, respectively, unscrewed the unfortunate single cover screw, which I again had to make excuses for my nervous uncle in the authorized SC I visited. It is not entirely clear whether this can affect the results of the examination, and whether it is recognized as a guarantee case by its results.
If suddenly someone can become interested in any of this, I can provide all the data about the laptop, its purchase and visited sc.
Needless to say, that if I still get a refund, from now on I will buy anything except Dell.
