AndreiL, Apparently, a design is made with the main emphasis on "beauty", and not functionality. It was possible to avoid such a semicircle and do it differently by shortening this by 2-3 times. Pedestrians appreciated the love, going to the other side much longer than necessary)

avelisov Such bridges are used for the place of underground passages where there is a busy highway for the passage of disabled people, people with wheelchairs and cyclists. In those places usually where just a pedestrian crossing would make traffic difficult. It is built rounded in order to minimize the slope of the surface on the ascent / descent.
