Onyx Boox - Testing beta versions of firmware Device Description: Good day!
In order not to throw all the firmware in one pile, we decided that it would be nice to create a separate topic for testing beta versions of new firmware, which Onyx regularly sends us. It is known that here on the forum there are many enthusiasts and fans to test this or that software. Some do not want to wait until posting a release, and it would be interesting to explore more or less normal beta versions (one of which may well become a release). In addition, it is possible that someone will notice those bugs or shortcomings that we can skip for any reason.
We decided to post
beta firmware for a range of devices .
The most important changes are the increase in battery life and the disconnection of any additional services and programs when not in use. They are enabled when this option is called and disabled when it is closed.

https://yadi.sk/d/L0UH9gHk3TmJdkAttention : If you have a Monte Cristo 1, Vasco da Gama 1 or Robinson Crusoe 1, check if there is an extended memory section for applications. If not, you must first flash the device firmware, expanding this section of memory. This firmware will be issued in technical support:
https://onyx-boox.ru/contact To check the volume of the memory section for applications Go to Settings - Applications - Application Settings - Application Management. And there you can look at the memory data, if the total amount (busy + free) is about 800 MB or more, then the extended partition doesn’t need to be used with the above firmware.
Installing beta firmware 1. Download the firmware file to the desktop.
2. Charge the device battery to at least 50%.
3. Copy the zip file, without removing it from the archive, to the device in the root directory of the internal memory via a USB cable. Then unplug the cable.
4. Connect a mains charger.
5. Go to Settings>About the device>System updates>Check for updates in memory.
6. There will be a question about confirming the desire to update the system. Click "Update."
7. The firmware will start. Lasts about 5 minutes.
8. If the system menu appears in the process, select Reboot now with the paging buttons and confirm the selection by pressing the Power button.
9. Wait for the user interface to load.
10. Delete the firmware installation file after the reader is loaded.
11. After carrying out the firmware procedure for Google Play to work correctly, it is recommended to reset your personal data.
We will be grateful for the feedback on the firmware and reports on errors and defects found.
Installing these firmware does not entail the cancellation of the warranty. If something happens to your device after installing one of these firmwares, please write to tech support -
https://onyx-boox.ru/contact. We ask you to follow the instructions for updating the firmware exactly.
