Reflash - no way. But if you have the skills to write drivers for * NIX systems, you can write a driver for the sensor, display, Wi-Fi module, RAM, ROM, etc. Maybe something will happen. And so - it was necessary to take Android.
But, there is one secret. You can put on Lumia 640 LTE Win 10 Mobile build 10240 with Project Astoria, I mean the Android subsystem. But there may be problems with the launch of Android applications. If you are going to do this, then you act at your own risk.

Literally tonight found and judging by the reviews (date), it is straight svezhak svezhak. Can anyone test?

"2. VisitGoogle Play Store download and install the ROM Manager on your Microsoft Lumia 640 LTE . Alternatively, you can try using alternative applications such as Jrummy Apps Inc. (Get it from the Google Play Store). "

Seriously? :)

I can say) Android has been on my 720 for almost a year. 6) There have been quite a few stages of firmware development + I belong to their team myself)
On the x40 series it is unlikely to do this. They do not have an unlocked bootloader, as with the x30, x50 series (like 1520 also has no unlocked).

Given that 2 years have passed, is it possible to install Android on (instead of or together as a subsystem) Windows Phone? On the smarts of the Lumia XXX series (in particular, on the Lumia 535?), Which are now called Microsoft Mobile RM-XXXX?

Here is everything: instruction, firmware and source code. The basis was to take the model Sony Xperia M, which has the same processor.
The firmware is going to enthusiasts from different countries, so some stability, full operation of all devices of the phone should not be expected.

Unfortunately no. Only x20 ruler. Later (x30-x50) uses more advanced UEFI and Secure Boot v2 (or higher, I don’t remember exactly), which doesn’t allow replacing oneself with the Android bootloader.
However, on some models (950, 950 XL, Hapanero) you can install Windows 10 ARM64, but not everything works there. This is a more promising direction, IMHO.
