Description:
We need to start with the fact that TP-LINK TL-WR840N is exclusively a router for a small home or office. If you need to organize the distribution of the Internet via Wi-Fi and cable, say, more than 10 devices, and constantly download something, play online games, and perform other complex tasks, then you need a more powerful router. For example, as an option, you can watch TP-LINK Archer C20i, which also supports Wi-Fi 5 GHz.

This router without problems will distribute the Internet to several devices via Wi-Fi, and via a network cable. Judging by the information on the box, it can withstand online games, file downloads, etc. But you need to understand that everything is in moderation. If you run some heavy games on several computers at the same time, then most likely it will not withstand this load. If such budget models could cope with all the tasks, then who would buy a router that costs ten or more times more.

Will work, LEDs do not blink correctly ....

No, not loaded, you need to rebuildTPLINK_HWID: = 0x08400002
Or shipping squashfs-sysupgrade brazen through sysupgrade -n /tmp/[firmware].bin
Just before it rolled forwardChaos Calmer 15.05.1- this is what is already there in a cap, reached his hands to check how it is sewn. I checked - works, though lying about iron version.
Attached Image

On the return flow from it is not a problem - just checked today.
Download LEDE through tmp did not, had already given to the device.
Well, if you ship Lede - Be prepared for the fact that there LuCI web interface should not be in assemblies to 4MB devices.

By the way, this month the masses should go TL-WR840N v4.x - MT7628NN 8MB FLA / 64MB RAM, 9 VDC / 0.6 A
Unless you replay :)

The bottom line for this branch relevant infa following:
TL-WR840N v1.x - BCM5357C0 300MHz, 4MB FLA / 32MB RAM, 9 VDC / 0.6 A
TL-WR840N v2.x - QCA9533 2.0 650MHz, 4MB FLA / 32MB RAM, 9 VDC, 0.6 A
TL-WR840N v3.x - QCA9533 2.0 650MHz, 4MB FLA / 32MB RAM, 9 VDC, 0.6 A
TL-WR840N v4.x - MT7628NN 575MHz, 8MB FLA / 64MB RAM, 9 VDC / 0.6 A (not verified wait for confirmation within a month!)

* gedler,
I am collecting the firmware itself, or just replaced data at 00000040 - 00000043? Firmware is the name generally referred to herein: define Device / tl-wr840n-v2
TPLINK_HWID: = 0x08400002 it is the identifier of the - another.

After 2 months of work on the machine, there was some sort of ****. Not working wifi (though the indicator is lit) and the connection of Lan says unidentified network. What could it be?
p.s: Reset did not help.

Incorrect statement. I currently Lede luci to 841N v11 set. There is a web interface in Eng., Which can be Russified.

Incorrect statement. I currently Lede luci to 841N v11 set. There is a web interface in Eng., Which can be Russified.

This was not a statement, but a warning.
It is based on information from the office. LEDE project site:
Requirements to the flash memory EEPROM for recording LEDE
  • 4MB min (without the ability to install GUI (LuCI))
  • 8MB wonderful (the ability to set the GUI (Lede), and many other applications)
and4/32 warning
Extensibility
Barely enough Flash to accommodate LEDE firmware image
  • 4MB min (will not be able to install luci) / 8MB better (will fit luci and some other applications)
  • 4MB can work, but are no fun to work with.>4MB will make you happier than 4MB or below.
  • 4MB devices can not fit anything noteworthy unless you use the Image Generator (Image Builder) (that requires a Linux system and some mild experience) or use Extroot. Experienced users deploying specific or custom builds may not be affected by these restrictions; novices however will likely waste hours only to see that their expectations of an extensible operating system which LEDE claims to be can not be met by their device.
  • Especially in regards to extensibility, the advice can only be: 8MB (or more) are the better choice.
Devices with only 4MB Flash memory will barely be able to hold the LEDE firmware image, and will have limitations in their extensibility. With low flash, do not expect too much in this regard.
Most probably, you will not be able to install the following popular packages (and others) on a device with only 4MB flash:
  • VPNs and any other package requiring encryption
  • Samba (shared folders)
  • 3G / 4G dongle support
  • filesystem drivers / tools for formatting and checking a filesystem for Extroot
Supportability
It is getting harder or even impossible over time to support devices with low Flash + RAM. LEDE support for those devices might end somewhere in the future.

The fact that it is not confirmed - the good news, but not once does not guarantee that in future GUI assemblies will be present.

I used to trust official sources.
The good of your practice, if there is no description in the OpenWRT WIKI and assemblies respectively wr840n.
So it will be at the corners tyrit curves assembly and come up with crutches?

Rep: (445)
* gedler,
Uv.esli have not been our practice, and OpenWrt did not exist.
If your PF source wiki I am silent, but you can trust him% 80.
So you use those that we give you, and fancies himself a steep developers, but in fact a simple script can not write.

It is better to write the script for otvyazki router firmware from Kyivstar without soldering;)

Well, I'm telling you, even a wiki can not fix :)
Why do you think that I'm a developer, I'm somewhere wrote about it?
Let's take the case. You can solve the problem with the addition of WR840N v2 and v3 data wiki openwrt?
What you need to do?

Rep: (445)

What you need to do?

Pieces of iron.
And all infa is, percent, radio, the size of the stick.
