* rusdevamitta ,
An error during installation is that he most likely swears at you that the hornbeam could not be installed. Try to choose not install Ubuntu, but try Ubuntu. From live through gparted, delete the sections themselves and place them all over again, so that the markup is as in the instructions, be sure to set the flags according to the instructions. Then, from under the live, without directly rebooting, run the install ubuntu. I tried a lot, installing Linux mint myself was easy, there was a minimum of body movements and he set the hornbeam himself. In the rest you have to dance with a tambourine. But in all I had no sound, I could not find a solution. I put Windows back

It is believed that during installation, the program itself may download the missing files on the Internet. But during the installation, I do not see the ability to connect to WiFi. How to do it?

I can go into "try Ubuntu" not the first time, two or three times I have to preload the tablet. The system boots up, go to WiFi and see the inscription no WiFi adapter found

During disk partitioning, I do everything according to the instructions, but the program writes no root file system is defined. Please correct this from the partitioning menu.

This means when choosing boot I need to select a file from USB - efi - boot - there are three files in this folder:
Boot x64.efi
Grubx64.efi
Bootia32.efi (added by me)
That is, I need to choose one of x64 in the BIOS?
Before that, I chose bootia32.efi

Logging in try Ubuntu
And turn off the phone like a hotpost
With the Internet turned on, I successfully installed Ubuntu.
The system wrote that everything can be successfully rebooted.
But at boot, I again wrote a message saying that they cannot boot.
I'm trying to select Ubuntu through the BIOS (for some reason there are two of them), but both of them give out text like blocked by security polis
I chose the path to another file in the BIOS settings.
And now at boot it only gives the command line
Entering rescue mode ...
Grub rescue
And now when I press F2, it gives me a simplified version of the BIOS where I can’t choose the path to any file. I can either enlist from a flash drive or select Ubuntu, which gives the above mentioned grub command line

No one tried installing ChromeOS from CloudReady?

On mine does not want to boot from a flash drive, a prepared program downloaded from the site ... Although the PC from it boots for one or two.

UPD: I managed to get it from a flash drive, but WiFi does not turn on.

Hello everybody! Please tell me on Aser aspire sw5-012 which version got with the least problems? Who what he uses now? Thank.

I just blew his, and what was I do not remember ...

Rep: (0)
I Tried Ubutu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Elementary. Set in automatic mode, the counting is not done.

All should be finished with a file. No sound is everywhere, but it's not a problem. Is corrected by adding a config file. Also on Elementary does not wake up after hibernation.

There is also a problem that the SD card works in read-only mode.

I read that on the Mint less of a problem, I will try.

Tell me plz why the installation hangs at the very beginning when choosing a section. Did everything as it is written hereAndroid OS on x86 (Post Inoiman # 46410872)
but at step 10 everything freezes. It is not possible to go to the Create / Modify partitions item - the tablet does not respond to buttons.

Dear, here they report on the successful installation of linux x64 next to windows on our tablet - literally in a file container on the windows file system without changing the partitions on the disk:

Tanoe, yes, the 18.04 works better than other versions

Ok, guys, IВґve done a big research (and windows reinstallations;)) from my last entry, and here are the results:

I've been thinking these last 6 months about how to get Ubuntu booted in the Acer ... And I came to a conclusion:
If the BIOS / UEFI only allows booting the Windows Boot Manager, why not go for it? I mean, instead of trying to add an entry to the UEFI system, add it to the WBM.
At first, I thank about an old solution, a program called EasyBCD, but after several tries, I couldnВґt make it work. But it gave me an idea about how to "trick" the boot system.
So, I searched Google for an old solution that I used to use 10 years ago: WUBI. But I found a new versiГіn that supports .... UEFI! And not only UEFI, also 32 bits UEFI. The program installs an 32 bits UEFI called rEFInd, and also adds the Ubuntu boot option to the BIOS boot menu.
Link: (https://github.com/hakuna-m/wubiuefi/releases)
So the process is as simple as download the Ubuntu ISO, put it in the same directory as WubiEfi and follow the assistent. The program creates the entry in UEFI, and done.

Tried with ubuntu 17, 18 and xubuntu. Best with Ubuntu 18.04 (best original x64 ISO. Yes, an 64 bits iso)
NOT TESTED: installation in other media than the integrated eMMC.

Windows IS NOT DELETED OR OVERWRITTEN in the proccess. The WUBI program adds a "ubuntu" folder in C unit and boots everything from there. If you want to delete the entire ubuntu installation, is as simple as execute the "uninstall" program in the ubuntu folder.

----

I managed to try this on lubuntu 18.10.2

results:
1) windows 10 remained bootable and workable (I am writing this from it)
2) during installation:
a) a reboot is offered, after which the tablet boots into the livecd installation mode of lubuntu, while in the installation wizard:
- there were errors of the form print_req_error: i / o error dev Loop0, sector xxxxxx, a lot and with different numbers, but the installation continued without messages
- there was an error "I can’t install the EFI bootloader" with a warning "to propose - perhaps the system will not be bootable"

After the next reboot ... you will be taken back to windows, as The new efi bootloader is not registered in Beavis.
solution: go into the BIOS, enable secure boot, select the item to add a new bootloader, specify 32-bit, call ubuntu, OK, disable secure boot

at the next download, press f12 - then a menu of 2 items opens:
- windows boot manager
- ubuntu

when you select the second, the GRUB window will open, enter on it will launch lubuntu.

like a victory?
out of the box the window "wifi networks detected" pops up!
and ... that's it! only a picture with stars, no desktop manager.

Linux specialists, tell me what to do next - how lxde or what else to run there?
CTRL-ALT-F1 opens a window with the text print_req_error: i / o error dev Loop0, sector xxxxxx - and that's it

how to treat?

Delivered Kubuntu 19.04 to Aser aspire sw5-012. The USB flash drive was recorded by Rufus without changing anything in it, then he slipped bootia32.efi into / EFI / BOOT. Installation in automatic mode, wi-fi works from the box, sound (you only have to switch between headphones and speakers).

I got the device in a half-killed state: one loop is broken off and USB does not work at the docking station. But most importantly, all partitions from the bootable media are demolished.
With grief in half, I managed to deliver via microUSB (as described at the beginning of the topic, breaking the media into the appropriate sections) Ubuntu 19.04. Everything except the broomstick works (and nafig he gave up). Finely everything.
The only cant, all this canoe is loaded if:
1. - press at the very beginning of loading F2;
2. - enter the password;
3. - put F12 Boot Menu - Enable;
4. - Secure Boot - Disable;
5. - save;
6. - Then, after rebooting, press Alt-F10 ...
Ubunt's menu appears and everything goes as it should.
If items 3 and 4 are not changed in the BIOS, then when loading Ubuntu it hangs tightly (you need to press the power button and hold it for 10-15 seconds, then release and press as usual - it’s heard that the HDD starts up, but the screen is dark and press Ctrl-Alt-Del).
At the same time, items 3 and 4 in the BIOS are not saved and must be changed every time. Ass.

Essence of the question:
- Is it possible to make Ubuntu boot normally?
- if not, is it possible to restore Windows (with normal boot)?

1. I did not quite understand what was wrong with the BIOS, but you can, here:Acer Aspire Switch 10 - Linux & Android (Post Profi_GMan # 54866785)
You need to connect to the Internet in any way, put hornbeam and register it in the BIOS (it should explain everything). There's also a link to the bottom of the boot loader, which can be controlled using the volume rocker
