Useful information on Netgear routers

Access to the AT port of the router
Four ways:

1. Through the regular driver (works on any AC78X , AC79 X , AC81 X )
- Download port driverAC78xSDrivers.exefrom netgear site.

- install the driver, after which three COMxx virtual ports will appear in the system:
NETGEAR WWAN Modem VSP
NETGEAR DM Port VSP
NETGEAR NMEA Port VSP

- connect the router with a USB cable to the computer.

- knock on the virtual port "NETGEAR WWAN Modem VSP" terminalkoy.

2. Access directly to the port without installing the driver, via USB-cord through the network interface RNDIS

In Netgear routers - AT, the port is also active inAT port over TCP . For use:

- connect the router with a USB cable to the computer.

- Use for example Putty or any other terminal and select in the settings
HostName:192.168.1.1
Port:5510
ConnectionType:Telnet

3. Access directly to the port via Wi-Fi connection
By default, access to port 5510 via Wi-Fi is blocked. To bypass, you need to change the port number to another value.

You can connect via Wi-Fi by analogy with the example above:
HostName:192.168.1.1
Port:XXXX (which you put in the config)
ConnectionType:Telnet

Details on changing the port fromsandwern :
Netgear AirCard AC785 (S), AC790 (S), AC810 (S) - Discussion (Post sandwern # 52346558)

Attention!
Standard password from Sierra "A710" - does not fit Netgear routers for unlocking extended AT commands

Netgear uses its modified passwords. And for different models - passwords are also different.

For aircardAC810-100EUS blocking from extended AT commands is removed through AT! ENTERCND = "whistler"
For aircardAC810S-1P1PLS blocking from extended AT commands is removed through AT! ENTERCND = "seymour"
For aircardAC810S-1TLAUS blocking from extended AT commands is removed through AT! ENTERCND = "grouse"
For aircardAC810S-1RDQAS blocking from extended AT commands is removed through AT! ENTERCND = "cypress"
For aircardAC790-100EUS blocking from extended AT commands is removed through AT! ENTERCND = "lavender"

For other Aircard ACxxx - passwords are not yet known. But if you want, you can always try to find out from the router itself ...
It is enough to remove the dump sections of the flash drive and pull it out from there ...

Access to the diagnostic port of the router (for QPST, QXDM, etc.)
Two options:

1. Through the regular driver from Netgear

- Install QPST, and in the settings select the port "NETGEAR DM Port VSP"
QPST 2.7.437 you can takehereor 2.7.441here

2. Access directly to the port without installing the driver

In the AC810 router - the diagnostic port is also active in theDM port over TCP
Default values:
HostName:192.168.1.1
Port:5511

For use with QPST, we add these values in IP: PORT format on the Ports tab.>Add New Port>Outgoing IP Connections.
By default, access to port 5511 is open only when the router is connected to the computer via a USB cable.
If you want to get work with the Dianhous port via Wi-Fi, then you need to change the port number to another value.

Determination of carrier parameters when working in the aggregation mode (Carrier Aggregation)
Actual for AC790 and AC810.

Parameters of carriers that are participating in the aggregation mode (Carrier Aggregation) are not visible in the web interface of the router. It displays data only on the main carrier. You can find out the parameters of all carriers only with the help of AT commands.

To see them you need:
1. Start the download and wait for the LTE-A icon to appear on the router's display.
2. send the command AT! GSTATUS?

The response in the "PCC:" section will be the parameters of the main carrier. In the sections "SCC1:" and "SCC2:" for additional.

example from Sandwern. Aggregation B7 (20Mhz) + B7 (20Mhz):
AT! GSTATUS?

Throughout the “damn place” I switched from B7 to B20 and back again five times, it warmed up (the weather also affects), but everything went well.

And the aggregation at the same time included? Maybe in his mask 7_7 completely disabled? In order to avoid misinterpretation, so to speak ...
Sandwern @ 06/21/2016, 9:01 PM*
I want to note very (incredibly!) fast switching from H + to 4G and vice versa - one second, even less (according to sensations, of course). I have not seen this on any device, be it a smartphone or a mobile access point.

The 861F is about the same. Probably, the same element base is used in their radio channels. More precisely, this effect is not provided by the components themselves, of course, but by the new driver that supports them.
Sandwern @ 06/21/2016, 9:01 PM*
Signal level indications / range information

And what is this interface? Is this his face so displayed in a mobile browser? Or some kind of "branded" mobile application?
In any case, there is no indication of aggregation in it. As in the face among the parameters of the network, as I understand it.
Is there any way to find out about the active use of several carriers? Well, maybe he "4G +" instead of "4G" somewhere shows that.

Well, otherwise he would not show 4G + on the display at the moment of data transfer in the presence of aggregation and speed, as in the screenshots above, it would not have been possible to get it for sure. But specifically in the "damned place" the presence of aggregation was not checked.

I have never met the Megaphone Band 38.

In Moscow, this network has long been absent. They experimented with it at first, somewhere in 2013, I even found 2 real BS. But then, when the epic with the acquisition of Scartel "spun", the interest disappeared, those towers turned off. At about the same time, some non-authoritative statements appeared in the “media space” that they would use B38 to organize communication between the BS in some situations, in the form of a kind of “radio relay”. In my opinion, this is the end of the matter. I mean, in these conversations. In any case, since then I have never met on the air a megaphone signal in B38.

I can be wrong, however, in the presence of a license, the operator is at least somehow obliged to use this network? Well, or for the species contain a couple of BS at least ...

A little bit about the new seriesNetgear AirCard AC815 (S) .

At the moment, began to produce carrier model AC815S for American AT & T:
www.netgear.com/service-providers/products/mobile/mobile-hotspots/AC815S.aspx
datasheet:
http: //www.downloads.n...atasheet/en/AC815S.pdf

The main differences from the AC810 series:
- dust and moisture protected housing(IP65)
- high-capacity battery4340 mAh

The rest of the characteristics almost like the AC810 series - the chipset is the same Qualcomm MDM9240.

It is a little about operator AC815S for American AT & T:
Certificate:http: //certifications.../download? cid = WFA62352
SKU code: AC815S-1A1NAS
According to datasheet: LTE cat.9, speed up to 450 Mbit / s
Ranges:
LTE Band 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, 30
WCDMA Band II, V
GPRS / EGPRS 850, 1900 !!!

P.S. About plans to release AC815 on the European market - not heard yet ... Although over time I think they may appear ...

Unite Explore is a descendant of Unite and Unite Pro mobile routers, mass-produced for the AT & T operator in 2013-2014. The unlocked versions of these devices did not appear on the market at that time.
I think that in the CIS countries the Unite Explore router would definitely find its client, especially, for example, among fans of outdoor activities, if there is support from our frequencies ...

Netgear 810 supports the Wi-Fi Offload feature, which theoretically can smooth out the effect of a lack of GSM support, but only if the operator provides the corresponding services. In the meantime, it remains only to use "Wi-FI - redirection". In this case, the router will go online, for example, via a smartphone connected to a 2G network, which does not require reconfiguration of other devices connected to it.

P.S. Interestingly, the datasheet for AC815S-1A1NAS says:

4G LTE Advanced speeds:
Category 9, 2-band Carrier Aggregation
(up to 40 MHz)

Those. aggregation of three carriers, it turns out, he does not support?

Those. aggregation of three carriers, it turns out, he does not support?

It is definitely difficult to say. Much does not fit in it ...

If there are two lanes, why then speak in a datasheet about it as Category 9? Would be enough for Category 6 ...

Yes, and below in the datasheet:
Maximum Theoretical Speeds
Downlink: 450 Mbps
Uplink: 50 Mbps

How on aggregation of two lanes get 450?

P.S.
The feeling that the instructions from the previous router were ruled, but not everything was changed. Category 0 - looks especially funny in the middle column ...

This is very similar to the behavior of MegaFon, which on Cat.4 devices indicates that they work on a 4G + network, which is “up to 300 Mbps!”. Only there the specifications indicate about "150 Mb / s", and here Netgear and AT & T explicitly state "up to 450". It turns out that marketing ... The site also says in the specifications that “2-band Carrier Aggregation (up to 40 MHz)” is right.

Yes Yes. And then immediately a separate item is 4G LTE Advanced. What for? It was possible for one item to fit.

P.S. QXDM identifies the WWAN DSP port as diagnostic and then crashes ... And QPST does not allow you to select this COM port as a Target Port.
TCP ports on Telnet / SSH are not responding. COM ports do not respond to attempts to knock using Putty ...

Port 5511 responded to ADB! :) "device offline".

I understand that you’re not controlling anything else there: neither the forced choice of frequency,
(and even more so their combination), the manufacturer does not offer anything like that?

There is such a setting: Range. Available options: All bands, Europe 3G, North America 3G, Europe, North America, All WCDMA, All LTE. It sounds much better in English, but the translation into Russian is a long one.

In terms of 3G / 4G networks - yes, only their choice. With Wi-Fi, you can change the channel width (20/40 - 2.4 GHz, 40/80 - 5 GHz).

Aggregation is visible only on the device display. In the web-face, the 4G icon when switching on the aggregation is replaced with a void.

It's a pity. Did you restart the router before these attempts? And then there, after trying to connect via SSH, adb connect, etc., probably, everything has been hanging for a long time.

And also try connecting to these ports using a simple telnet.

The firmware version is needed in order to generate the correct nvu file and enable the ADB. :)

Maybe NVU really try to do?

Then what team will try to include?

I looked at the firmware AC790.
"USB_COMP" - through which the ADB was included in the EM7455 - no ... Yes, and the songs here look different ...

But there is an old friend:
"CUST_ADBENABLE" - through which I tested in my EM7305. Value 1 sent to NVU - successfully activates my physical ADB port. here probably also can work ...

I also see in the firmware AC790 - "CUST_TELNETENABLE". I think it should also try to pull in the value of 1.

Regarding the fdt.exe flash driver from Netgear.
To the firmware from AC790 - attached:

FDT version: 4.5.0.0
-d [9x00 / 9x15 / 9x25 / 9x35 / g3k / g5k]

Support MDM9x4x - it has not yet been announced.

But here, in the latest firmware for the AirCard 340U, fdt is attached newer:
http: //www.downloads.n…/AC340U_FW_Upgrade.exe

Inside
FDT version: 4.6.0.1

FDT usage:

fdt -o [normal / emergency] -d [9x00 / 9x15 / 9x25 / 9x35 / 9x45 / g3k / g5k] -fd [folder name] -f [file name 1] [file name 2] -p [port] -h -a -r -q -sc -force -slot [slot #] -baud [baud rate] -ssdp

-d [9x00 / 9x15 / 9x25 / 9x35 / 9x45 / g3k / g5k]
Specifies the device type. Must be lower cases. This option is mandatory
for emergency download process, but optional for normal
image download process. If this option is omitted, 9x15 is the
default setting.

- 9x00: This is a 9x00 based device.
- 9x15: This is a 9x15 based device.
- 9x25: This is a 9x25 based device.
- 9x35: This is a 9x35 based device.
- 9x45: This is a 9x45 based device.
- g3k: This is a Gobi3000 device.
- g5k: This is a Gobi5000 device.

Here they probably should take advantage ...

Then the following was done: AirCard was connected to a stationary PC (to which it had not previously connected).
Next, suddenly determined RNDIS and COM ports (3 pieces).

What version of Windows on a stationary PC?
What are port IDs?
What drivers put on them?

Among these three, One Port Modem, we saw this.
Of the remaining two - one must be diagnostic. QPST torment to these ports ...

I managed to connect to the WWAN COM port. Putty did not help (maybe just got confused), the HyperTerminal application from Windows XP worked.

Windows 8.1 x64, she installed the driver herself. In the device manager there is no "compatible id" item. Here is all that can provide useful information:

The installation of the ng9x25vspat00.inf_amd64_f191a77df0a89847 \ ng9x25vspat00.inf driver for the device instance with the ID ROOT \ PORTS \ 0000 is completed with the following state: 0x0.

Adding the ng9x25vspat00 service for a device instance with the ROOT \ PORTS \ 0000 ID is completed with the following state: 0.

ng9x25vspat00.inf - just there is a virtual COM port driver running on top of RNDIS ...
They are in the driver package AC78xSDrivers.exe

These ports are not included in the composition of the USB router. And since they are virtual, they do not have their own VID, PID and "compatible id" ...
Everything is good here ...

Here you can see all the same classic mode with a single physical RNDIS and virtual COM on top of it. (APP PID: 0x68E1)
Everything as in the previous AirCard 78xS and 790S was. Netgear didn't invent anything new ...

BOOT PID: 0x68E0 - also a classic Download Mode, similar to all AirCard 78xS and 790S.
Driver for BOOT PID: 0x68E0 - all in the same AC78xSDrivers.exe
You need to install it before updating the firmware. Otherwise, the fdt.exe flash driver will not see the Download Mode port and will not be able to update the router ...

QXDM Pro 03.14.974 - I have not. Where to get the crack - I do not know.

I have only treated QXDM 3.14.594
