1) You can unlock the bootloader via fastboot oem unlock (did not break)
2) MTK Droid Tools works if you replace the files in the adb subfolder with more recent ones

very bad idea. just as bad as possible. It is very easy to catch such a bootlap, from which it will be very hard to bring the phone back to life. or after the firmware immediately lochit back.
But in general it is easier to flash TWRP through SPFlash, if you are behind this.
