SATA connectors do not fit through this adapter, you will need to collective farm the thread, the hard one will plug in 2.5, you just need to fix it with something inside so that it does not hang out.

The fact is that the screws in the NAS are actually fixed on nothing, they are simply inserted into the slots and the SATA contacts on the screw go into the SATA connector on the NAS, so I think it's better to hook up some kind of screw mounts for 2.5 so that it just doesn't hang out there.

After the retirement of this device, the question arose about updating its firmware. Once upon a time it was flashed with the firmware DNS-320L (LW) _A3 (A2) _FW_1.03b04 (the device itself is A3 modifications). I climbed onto the d-Link FTP and for this modification I found only the latest release of DNS-320L_A3_FW_1.02b07.
Can I put D-LINK_DNS320L (LW) .1.08b08 on the A3 modification?

NAS served as a file-cleaner, there was raid 1. One night they cut out the light, and everything would be fine, but my 320 blinked with a blue LED like a garland and did not start. After searching the internet and finding a bunch of information, I began to restore it.

I must say that it’s not strong in all of this, everything was done by trial and error, reading manuals over a cup of coffee.

1. To get started, put ruby ​​and ffi on ubunt:

apt-get install ruby
apt-get install ruby2.1-dev
gem install ffi

2. Download the dns323-firmware-tools utility:

cd dns323-firmware-tools

3. Copy firmware Alt-F-0.1RC4.1-DNS-320-rev-A1A2.bin to the folder of the downloaded utility dns323-firmware-tools , it was convenient for me through WinSCP.

4. We extract the kernel and ramdisk image from the firmware:

./splitdns323fw -k uKernel -i uInitrd -d uDefaults -s uSquashfs Alt-F-0.1RC4.1-DNS-320-rev-A1A2.bin

5. After successful completion, the uKernel and uInitrd files we need will appear in the same folder. Download tftpd to win7, unpack it, and copy the uKernel and uInitrd files to this folder.

6. Run tftpd32.exe, select our network card with our ip, I have 192.168.0.70

7. We connect the pins via the USB to TTL adapter to our nas and insert it into the computer with win7:

On my board, it's a JP3 connector.
Pins from right to left:
1pin (square) TXD
2pin is missing
3pin 3.3V DO NOT CONNECT (on the hub, the author complained that he burned several TTL adapters by connecting this pin. I did not connect and everything works without it)
4pin GND
5pin RXD

If it doesn’t work for you, swap the RX and TX places, in the articles these pins are displayed vice versa.

8. Open putty, set the connection port (see in the Device Manager ->COM and LPT ports) 115200 speed

9. We connect the NAS power, connect the LAN, and press the power button. The download has gone, we are waiting for the inscription: If you want to stop u-boot booting, then press space then 1 when prompted to press any key
