Instructions
On the Sony website, in the list of devices for unlocking the bootloader, there is no Xperia m5; by this, select the Xperia z5 in the list and follow the instructions.

The method of obtaining Root - superuser rights
At the moment, getting Root rights is possible for Lolipop without unlocking the bootloader using KingRoot version 4.8.0 and higher.KingRoot profile theme onsavagemessiahzine.com.
- Download the latest version of KingRoot
- Enable installation from unknown sources (Settings>Security>Unknown sources)
- Enable data transfer / WiFi
- Install KingRoot
- Open KingRoot and click "Try"
- Get Root (wait 100%)
If you fail the first time, try several times in a row. For some users, the method worked with the seventh time.
Before installing root, weigh the pros and cons, think whether you really need it or is it just your whim, since it is removed only by a complete flashing of the phone, a hard reset will not help.
Also, the OTA-update will not help, since it simply will not rise with the root.

Getting the superuser right, but only for those who are ready to unlock the bootloader

Answer

What is Bootloader and why should I unblock it?
Answer
Each Android phone has a bootloader (bootloader) that checks the integrity and signatures of the kernel, as well as other important sections of the operating system before and for booting in normal mode. Although Android is an open source operating system and is available on various devices, all manufacturers (including Sony) have their own version of the bootloader, specific to its hardware. Bootloader is usually locked on Android devices, as manufacturers want you to stick with Android versions specifically designed for these devices. If you want to install on your phoneINFORMAL(Custom) firmware you have to unlock the bootloader. Luckily, Sony allows you to do it officially, but with the loss of warranty service and the loss of some proprietary developments, for example: Bravia Engine 2, enhanced camera functionality, i.e. noise reduction algorithms can be removed, and performance can be affected when shooting in low light conditions, so you lose the opportunity to receive updates of official software. If you do decide to do this, there is a wayBEFORE UNLOCKINGBootloader to keep the ability to use all Sony developments for your phone after unlocking.

Can I unlock my bootloader?
Answer
We type in the phone*#*#7378423#*#*and go toService mode , Further Service info - Configuration and look at the bottom line:
Bootloader unlocked: Yes - this means that the bootloader is already unlocked.
Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes - this means that the bootloader is locked and can be unlocked.
Bootloader unlock allowed: No - this means that the bootloader is not unlocked, and its DO NOT unlock.

What is a modified recovery?
Answer
The official (stock) Recovery has a limited set of functions that allows you to reset the phone’s settings, which is not surprising, since it is intended to install signed updates from the manufacturer.
There is a modified Recovery allowing:
* Install unofficial firmware
* Install add-ons and fixes
* Connect to PC via USB in removable storage mode
* Connect to PC via USB in ADB mode
* Create a backup of both the entire firmware and its individual parts (system, settings, installed programs)
* Recover data from previously created backup
* Reset the data to factory settings (Wipe - data / factory reset), clear the cache partition (wipe cache), clear the dalwick cache (wipe Dalvik-cache), clear the battery statistics (wipe battery stats)
* Format phone sections

How to enter Recovery mode?
Answer
Turn off the phone. Hold down the volume down button and the power button simultaneously, after a short vibration, release the power button while continuing to hold the volume down button until the Recovery menu appears.

How to enter Flashmode mode?
Answer
Turn off the phone. Press the volume down button and connect the phone to the computer. The transition to Flashmode mode will be signaled.green led , you will not see anything on the screen. On the PC, special drivers must be installed to operate the phone in Flashmode mode.

How to enter Fastboot mode?
Answer
Turn off the phone. Press the volume up button and connect the phone to the computer. A switch to Fastboot mode will be signaled.blue led , you will not see anything on the screen. The phone will be in this mode until you disconnect it from the PC. Special drivers must be installed for the phone to operate in Fastboot mode.

What is Sony RIC?
Answer
Starting with Android 4.4.2, Sony embeds a Sony RIC system partition protection prohibiting entry in this section. Protection is disabled by firmware modified kernel. Previously, I did not find the Sony RIC activator in our core, so most likely we do not have such protection.

What is TA - phone section? When can we lose data from it?
Answer
Trim Area (TA - partition) - section of the firmware or firmware that contains information about the device, the current OS or firmware. Trim Area can contain IMEI, serial number, DRM keys, and other service information. Trim Area consists of a HEX code. Some files in the Trim Area are unique. Losing or replacing them may result in complete or partial failure of the device. There are programs for backing up information from the Trim Area section for later restoration in case of damage to this section, if the device’s functionality has not yet been lost. If the Trim Area is badly damaged or deleted, you can try to restore the template using special software.
When unlocking the bootloader, this section of the firmware is lost.

How to check the availability of DRM keys after relocking the boot loader and restoring the TA partition

A small utility from a respected maestro.Golvfor backing up important sections of the phone (including the TA section, if you have it saved)
For the functioning of the script are needed:
  • Root
  • USB debugging enabled
    enable USB debugging
    We go to the settings - on the phone - the build number. Tap on the build number several times in a row until you see that you have become a developer.
    Go back and go to the "Options for Developers" menu that appears. Enable USB debugging.

  • Phone connected to computer

Unpack the archive with the script and run_BackUp_.bat and wait for the successful completion of the script. Excluded from the script sections: system, userdata, cache
A subfolder with the name of the date of copying will appear in the script folder. It will be your backup sections. Better to hide him somewhere far away.

How to remove root completely and all its traces from the phone? King root has deleted the root itself, the program is automatically removed from the device, but one desired application still shows the presence of a modified firmware (sberbank online).
Even ridiculous ... I made a root in order to activate the possibility of broadcasting on chromecast, then it turned out that this can be done without a root and it became as if not needed. Now the Sberbank application has closed some functions as I have a root.

* spawn85,
The easiest way for you will be to flash through PC Companion.

I am also inclined to this, but to re-configure everything is too lazy.

* spawn85,
Well, here it is necessary. It looks like KingRoot is dirty deleted. In the future, it may be possible to make some sort of script for removing the root completely. But you need to keep track of what changes it makes.

Where to find the ADB driver for our device. I sort of had somewhere for my M2 dual. They will go?

* Eks241,
Those that are in the header are the ADB-drivers for our phone.

* aleks5052,
No, it does not help, you need a phone flashing through PC Companion or Flashtool.
Due to the ease of getting root rights, he corrected the cap: he introduced a warning for beginners.

Sorry did not know before. No matter how much the root is needed. Especially we are waiting for 6.0 Andrew.
If the upgrade with root does not work, then we will reflash.

* vlad006,
It will not be possible to upgrade with root, since the update will check for changes in the system.

Hello. I have this question. I bought my girlfriend for the new year xperia m5 dual. And at the very Xperia Z5, and when installing Xperia themes, my navigation keys change, and the standard themes remain on the same topic. But when buying, I put a winter theme, and the keys change on it. So I do not understand what the pattern. Maybe someone knows what the problem is?
P.S. On the Winter Snow theme, the navigation buttons change, but on the Mickey Mouse Xperia Theme, I change to Z5, and on m5 they remain unchanged

Not for this topic question, but for the topic of discussion of the device itself. And I don’t change because we have 5.1. My wife, M2, is my ex, so the navbar buttons also change on him because 5.1.1 I don’t see any other explanation.
