Rom Manager creates backups using custom recovery features. Which we do not yet have.
After all, nothing prevents you from flashing the boot area extracted from the update — it won't be any worse anyway.
Get on the fastboot,and in order, on the command line running from the folder with fastboot.exe (available in the archive for the second method of root) and boot.img from the update,seal it:

fastboot devices (to make sure the phone is recognized)
fastboot getvar all (to find out if the bootloader is locked or not, the results here - I just can’t get this rather important information from other owners)
fastboot oem unlock (if you want to unlock the bootloader and lose all data on the phone; if you do not want it, skip it)
fastboot flash boot boot.img

Titanium will go.
And CWM with TWRP is convenient, you can quickly save / data, / system with them, and you don’t need anything else, unless of course you can’t climb into any exotic sections of ala modem. I also like the recovery of the fact that .android_secure is saved, otherwise it happens that you replace the memory card and a few very sensitive and competent progs will disappear.
