Short description:
An application for confidential calls and messages.

Description:

As the developers claim, Signal uses end-to-end encryption: all information (text, video, photos) is encrypted before the data is transmitted to the sender. Thus, the userвЂ™s data cannot be read by a third party, including the creators of the application themselves. Signal only requests access to the phone number and address book.
The application has open source code available on the GitHub developer site. As noted by The Verge, in particular, the Signal code uses WhatsApp, which also encrypts traffic. The messenger is free.
The developer of Open Whisper Systems owns two applications that ensure the confidentiality of data: TextSecure (protects against interception of messages) and RedPhone (from eavesdropping calls). The company said that a single version has been released for Android.
