If you have a problem and you want to ask for advice in this topic, then below are the rules for processing your message.
In general, your message should contain the following information:
  1. Device model
  2. Firmware.
  3. Problem.
  4. After that, there was a problem (which applications were installed, which settings were changed).

An urgent request to examine the spoilers "Instructions" and "Miscellaneous" before writing a question - with a high degree of probability there is an answer to your question!

  • When searching for firmware / kernel / recovery / ... under your device, be guided only by the first 4 characters of the code number (ie, Z00AD = Z00A and so on).
  • Tip: if you made a wipe and an error occurs with the firmware, then restart Recovery helps in 99% of cases!
  • If after experiments / unsuccessful firmware you got a non-working phone, we look>>here<<his revival.
  • Attention! Before any actions with the firmware, make a full backup of the system through TWRP and save it to an external drive!
  • This topic is not intended to discuss problems with Google Pay! Read>>instruction<<, if it did not help - for you topicsGoogle Pay does not startandGoogle pay.

Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 ZB602KL 4/64

Reputation:-  2114  +

I present my custom core for stock and some custom ones based on the drain, firmwareZE551MLandZE550MLbased on the Zenfone Zoom ZX551ML 2.26.40 source code, tested on 2.20.40.184, I'm not sure, but it can also work on other firmware of the 2.20.40.xxx series, as well as 2.19.40.22, 2.19.40.20, 2.19.40.18.

ExFAT format memory cards now FULLY work like on the stock core!

Attention!!! In very rare cases, it happens that when using ExFAT cards when switching to my kernel from other custom kernels, folders are obtained in zero size. Most likely, this is due to the fact that I use ExFAT drivers from the stock core in the latest kernels, and Samsung-third-party drivers in other cores for drainage. The solution is to drop all the data from the card to the PC, format it in ExFAT and upload the data back.

If you like my kernels and you have a desire to support me, see profile information.
Change History:

11.06.2016/2

Fix: The device in a dream went into active mode

11.06.2016
Reduced the backlight level of the display in low ambient light by 2 times when using automatic brightness

I threw out extra modules, but in the previous version I shoved a couple extra

I added the Moorefield processor ID to the code and, based on this, tried to optimize the Interactive governor and the SFI driver for this family

Changed sfi-cpufreq driver, now it is almost like Android 4.4.2
09.06.2016
Switched to the new Zenfone Zoom ZX551ML sources on June 3

Once again, I cut out the processor cores when the screen was turned off, this time for good.

03.06.2016
Returned full exFAT support (the card is visible from all the programs, including SD Maid, when the data on the card is changed by third-party files, a window pops up where you can select the SD card)

Improved support for NTFS OTG devices, now they are visible from progs that support the Android 5 API, i.e., you can set a ZIP with an NTFS drive in the Dual Boot Patcher, it will be visible in the prog. Writing / changing files to an external OTG NTFS drive via third-party filemen without editing platform.xml with the NextAPP SD Fix program is impossible (I hope so far), although the drive appears in the list for recording permission .... I’ll remind you that you can quietly write / delete / modify files even without changing platform.xml

Full support for internal memory cards in NTFS format for reading and writing "out of the box" without dancing with a tambourine, any file manager.

In the Interactive Stock Governor, three cores are turned off when the screen goes out

Now about the minus of the new kernel: it takes longer to load, the ASUS logo hangs longer. This is due to the fact that at startup, every time one library is automatically replaced in system / lib.

23.05.2016
Made full support for NTFS format for reading / writing for OTG devices (without any third-party software, it is automatically mounted / unmounted, a window pops up that an external device is connected, you can see it in your file manager, etc.). To support writing / modifying / deleting files via third-party files, you need to change the file platform.xml (for reading and without it works), through the native file manager it works without dancing with a tambourine

Slightly changed the display firewood

Governor Interactive bit changed
20.05.2016
Based on several complaints about the increased consumption, I again cut out the touchscreen from the Interactive governor

Also in the governor, Interactive sawed the idle timer, because I found the info that they are not needed on the Merrifield platform (therefore, they are probably not needed on Moorefield)

I cut out an unnecessary (like) camera module

I saw virtual USB drivers for Linux (I didn’t mention what I added in the description), because maybe they had an effect on consumption and I couldn’t get them to work

Other small sawing
16.05.2016
Ramdisk from 184 firmware

ExFAT Zenfone Zoom ZX551ML drivers

I decided to return touchboost to the Interactive stock governor (and sometimes the device worked sluggishly at the maximum frequency and spent a lot of time), but with changes: the touchbust duration was reduced to 30,000 instead of 80000 runoff, touchboost_freq = 1166 MHz

I returned the functions of the keyboard and the mouse forgotten in the previous assembly
13.05.2016
Ramdisk from 183 firmware

Small optimizations in the code (it seemed to me, the device began to consume a little less when surfing, watching videos, etc.)
23.04.2016
Moved to the newest source code Zenfone Zoom from April 20, in them a lot of changes. For example, flash memory drivers are new (it seems that they activated eMMC v5.1, because in 73 firmware it is in the changer), charging wood, usb, high speed uart, etc. Puskamer rolls over, gave 61651 points on the default interactive, updated Java to build minigzip openssl, switched to Ubuntu 16.04

20.04.2016

Removed idle state from Linux 4.6 (once in Linux 4.6 while there are no Moorefield processors, then let them be stocked, asus will know better)

Something in the CLK driver settings borrowed from Linux 4.6

17.04.2016/2

It turns out I have filled the wrong version for 550, correcting this misunderstanding

Now I’ve exactly cut the touchboost from interactive, it’s not equal to the minimum frequency, but there’s no more
17.04.2016
Eliminated the main flaws of his core:
1.It was impossible to write to the exFAT memory card, change / delete / rename files on the exFAT memory card using Android 5, now you can select Continue - SD card - in the dialog box, select the SD card folder and writing / deleting / changing will occur even without any change of platform.xml by SDFix or manually. Also, the memory card is now available in those applications where the change in platform.xml did not help (for example, in the Dual Boot Patcher multiboot)
2. The applications transferred to the exFAT memory card on the stock core were not visible when using my kernel — now everything is in order!

16.04.2016
I saw the touchbus again from the Interactive governor

Again in the governor Interactive, Interactive Pro, Cyan, Intel laid the function of disabling the 3rd and 4th cores when the screen is off
14.04.2016
Updated AOSP 5.1.1_r30 to 5.1.1_r37 for the openssl minigzip builds for the kernel

Completely reset the kernel config and reconfigure it from scratch, using Zenfone Zoom ZX551ML config for the base

I got rid of cheap ponta in the form of assemblies with custom GCC Sabermod (well, it does not give anything), again I use my native AOSP GCC 4.9

Videogame simple_ondemand from the latest Linux kernel 4.6

Some ramdisk adaptions to the Zoom config

I returned the governor Hotplug (do not confuse it with the hotplug driver, I do not intend to return it!)

* alex @ ryaalready tested the core, says gaming performance has grown
12.04.2016

Ramdisk from the new 178 firmware

Sfi-cpufreq driver changes

Again, I picked in the Interactive governor: I returned the ability to set up the touchscreen, completely deleted the unused parameter boost, again the speed indicator is equal to the maximum frequency

Again, the auto-backlight is automatic, without setting the minimum brightness level

10.04.2016

Kernels in sleep do not turn off

In the governor, Interactive returned the touchscreen to the stock 1333 MHz

In the driver idle processor added state of the newest kernel linux 4.6, as I understand it, the processor will be deeper into sleep
09.04.2016
In the governors Interactive, Interactive Pro, Cyan, Intel laid the function of disabling the three cores when the screen is off (but it seems to me that there is no autonomy increase)

In the governor, Interactive again set hispeed_freq at 1833 MHz

08.04.2016
I removed the root of evil of the last three cores of my support for F2FS (our new curator has already tested and says the performance in games has become no worse than the core of March 28, for my part I will say that the heating in tanks has decreased by 5-10 degrees), and should zhor fall

Removed disabling kernels in a dream, it seemed to me that this did not increase the autonomy
07.04.2016/2
I cleaned the code from unnecessary tinsel (for example, the assembly with optimization march = silvermont does not give anything, but even spoils the picture), the performance has increased, now the antutu confidently takes the milestone of 61000 points even with the default Interactive scheduler and CFQ scheduler, although they are not the fastest (I have from 61200 to 61400 issues)

Again removed the minimum level of auto-backlight, automatically adjusted
07.04.2016
Raised touchboost_freq to 750 MHz (maybe it will solve the problems with unlocking on the dabtapu arising from some users)

Something related to the KVM virtual machine was brought back into the modules, as it was on my March and even earlier kernels.

06.04.2016

Interactive practically cut out touchboost_freq from the governor, making it non-configurable and equal to the minimum frequency, reduced the touchboostpulse_duration value from 80,000 to 60,000. The amount of time for which you need to poke into the screen (internet surfing, games, etc.) should decrease
02.04.2016

Full support for F2FS

Corrected the governor Interactive, but if you switch to another governor, and then go back, the touchboost did not work, by default it set it to 1333 MHz
31.03.2016
Slightly raised performance

Managed to work normally and without optimization -Ofast

30.03.2016
Removed active hotplag

Fixed thereby possible hangs of the phone when switching governors

In the governors Interactive, Interactive Pro, Cyan, Intel laid the shutdown function of the 3rd and 4th kernel when the screen is off
28.03.2016

Canceled the limitations of hispeed_ and touchboost_freq in the Interactive Governor, small changes in the AutoSMP driver, such as it also reduced the likelihood of freezes when switching governors through the kernel Auditor, fixed kernel sticking at maximum frequencies when returning to Interactive Governor and other optimizations

27.03.2016
Returned to the AutoSMP HotLog driver, making a number of changes in it:
- when the screen is turned off, the 3rd and 4th cores are turned off tightly (do not be confused by the item “One core with the screen off†in the auditor — they will work 2, not one, this is my change)
- online strictly 1 and 2e core, whistle will not (by default they would have jumped and there would be absurd combinations, say, 1 and 4e)
- well, in general, I twirled the parameters so that the interface and the games worked fine (tanks on the max. graphics go perfectly, about 60300 points)

In order for the device to freeze when switching governors through an auditor, now we must try very hard

Ramdisk is now from 174 firmware (someone complained that 165 is a lot of wavelets)

25.03.2016
I removed the forced shutdown of the cores with the screen off, I think that this caused very frequent reboots when changing governors through the Kernel auditor

Since I returned the default governor Interactive, it should reduce power consumption compared with the previous version

Like increased performance in games

22.03.2016/2
I dig into drivers and governors in order to fix hangs and reboots when changing profiles and governors through Kernel Auditor. I'm not sure that I completely solved the problem, but in 2 hours of tests for regular switching of governors, I no longer had hangs.

Changed the parameters of the Interactive Pro governor to more economical ones
22.03.2016
I added a forced shutdown of the 3rd and 4th kernel to the hotplag driver as soon as the screen goes blank, i.e. no matter what the load, what events, etc. - the 3rd and 4th core will be tightly disconnected. I used to notice that they turned on, albeit for a short time, when, say, mail arrived, etc., now the processor will be at rest. By the way, this applies even in the event that you put up through the auditor in the settings of 3 or 4 cores online, as soon as you turn off the screen, 3 and 4 cores will be turned off

I checked in the frequency driver, now when changing governors, folders from previous governors will not remain, as has often happened. Governors do not need to be switched by Kernel Auditor, it causes a crash of the kernel, in the logs of which it will be written that the type could not write objects, it was not possible to delete the group .... try through other programs, at least through No-Frills CPU Control normally

In the governor, Interactive Pro activated 3 parameters: until the load on any core is above 60% and / or the frequency of any core higher than 1083 MHz, the frequencies of all other cores will not fall below 750 MHz. It seems that this has a positive effect on performance, it has grown by 1000-1500 puskameras (my number is from 61200 to 61900). I installed this governor by default.

I juggled with USB drivers, but I don’t think it will solve the problem of USB connection of several users from this forum.

Corrected Zram and now the compression is exactly in LZ4HC, and not in the usual LZ4

Build with the usual -O2 optimization (like the stock one), I don’t see the sense of the new-fashioned O3, Ofast optimizations anymore

15.03.2016
Corrected ZRAM, but the data is almost not compressed. Once again, I’ll explain that you don’t need to turn it on on devices with 4 GB of RAM, and on 2 GB versions you only need to turn on when absolutely necessary, if you think that multitasking is bad, the programs in the background are closed.
14.03.2016
Replaced ZRAM compression / decompression with default LZO on LZ4 (compression is done in LZ4HC (high compress), decompression in LZ4), should work faster. Let me remind you that ZRAM is disabled by default and can be enabled via Kernel Auditor. And let me remind you that
BORETS24 @ 07.12.2015, 03:41*
10.03.2016
Added the ZRAM module (perhaps it will be useful ONLY to owners of 2 gigabyte modifications and that is not a fact), by default it is not involved and the block size is zero. You can enable via Kernel Auditor, the item "Virtual memory", set any value other than zero - ZRAM is activated, set again the zero-module is unloaded

Since, for the implementation of ZRAM in LZ4, I added libraries to the kernel to support LZ4, I also decided to compress the kernel in LZ4 instead of the standard GZIP.
12.03.2016/2
Added the Virtual Interrupt Descriptor Table driver, it is in the sink core, but for some reason it did not provide Asus kernel sources, found it on the side
12.03.2016
Build with the GCC SaberMod 4.9.3 compiler instead of GCC 4.9 (I tried to compile them, it seemed the interface became faster)
09.03.2016
I rolled back what I could on March 4
08.03.2016
Brought the video and the screen back to the modules in the hope of fixing the disabling of the game hitch in some users
07.03.2016
Brought fps_throttle back to the module, as it was in stock (maybe it will solve the problem with the games that some users had)
06.03.2016
I didn’t like the twitching of the interface surfaced on the previous kernel - the hotplug driver was corrected, the offline_load parameter that was not used now was removed from it (the antitu issued 60962)

In the governors, Interactive, InteractiveX and Interactive Pro raised the value of hispeed_freq from 1750 to 1833 MHz

Firewood screen and video integrated directly into the kernel (they were modules dfrgx.ko, tngdisp.ko, fps_throttle.ko)

Removed processor overclocking up to 5 GHz
04.03.2016
I redid the hotplug driver code, now the kernels are not torn, but strictly CPU0 + CPU1 is online, there will be no other combinations

Since the moderator deleted my nightly posts with evidence of fake overclocking, I could not resist and did this version with overclocking to 5000 MHz

28.12.2016
I redid the hotplug driver: now, if the load on the processor is higher than the value of the fast lane, only the third core is turned on, not all, the fourth is disabled. However, if the load did not sleep, but exceeded the value of fast lane-2, then the 4th core is also activated. Made a version of Kernel Auditor with the support of the Fast Lane-2 parameterAttached fileKernel_Auditor_Zen2 [1] .apk(2.75 MB)
DO NOT set the value of FAST LINE-2 LOWER than FAST LINE, otherwise there will be no sense from the value of FAST LINE-2

In the video driver made 12 thermal status, equal to the number of available frequencies. Now, in theory, when overheating at 457 MHz, the video frequency will smoothly drop, switching to 400 MHz first, if overheating by 400, it will switch to 355 MHz, if to 355 hot fry, to 320, etc. On the stock of these statuses only 3- 533, 457 and 200 MHz, that is, when overheating at 457 MHz, the frequency seems to immediately drop to 200 MHz and lags in games started.

25.02.2016
I also worked on the hotplag driver (the interface is even smoother, the jitters disappeared when using the device with connected charging, in my opinion, the consumption in standby mode and Internet surfing decreased)
23.02.2016
He corrected the hotplug driver (he also found the code that most probably didn’t apply to our device, and demolished it, corrected the warning warning during the assembly), tuned the governors of Interactive, InteractiveX, Interactive Pro, aimed at improving the responsiveness and smoothness of the system. These two actions, in my opinion, improved things not only when surfing the menu, but also in games, at least with the default kernel settings in tanks at maximum settings, I did not see the FPS drop below 37, even when many tanks in frame, jerking pictures like no. Antutu is also in order, about 59500- 61000 on the Z3580

Reduced the minimum available frequency of the video card to 106 MHz, also added the frequencies of 133, 160, 177 MHz. If suddenly someone does not know, I made a version of kernel Auditor under our graphics driver, with the help of it you can change the frequenciesВ®Kernel Adiutor (Post BORETS24 # 47317070)

To Ofast added a new optimization for the Silvermont processor series, replacing the stock one.
21.02.2016
I'm tired of doing three different versions, switched to ramdisk from 165 firmware, i.e. now versions for 550 and 551 are compatible with Echo ROM

I removed the extra code from the hotplag driver (it seems to me that it is not very applicable to x86, now the device heats up less on charging or when connected to a PC, the processor frequencies no longer jump like mad and the cores do not flicker by permanently turning off / on)

Instead of the governor, Interactive from ZenTab S8.0 is now the governor of Interactive from Zenfone Zoom (it seems to be exactly the same as the native one from Zenfone 2), but made itspeed_freq restriction to 1583 MHz (antutu more than 59000 on the Z3580).

Added a governor Cyan (do not think that someone from the source code cut, it is in the public domainHERE) and changed the frequencies in it under our device, otherwise there were those that are not in the frequency table of our processors.
20.02.2016
The kernel is now based on the newest Asus Zenfone Zoom source code dated February 18, 2016 (only the camera driver remained from the Zenfone 2 source code), again it hooked the hotplug driver (below 55 fps in tanks does not fall at low settings), in the governor the interactive lowered the hispeed_freq parameter up to 1416 MHz
19.02.2016
Simple Interactive again by default
adjusted the hotplake driver a bit (it seemed to me that the device was very hot on charging)
Now you can manually set the minimum and maximum frequency of a video card using the file manager and text editor (root required): sys / class / devfreq / dfrgx / min_freq-minimum frequency, sys / class / devfreq / dfrgx / max_freq- maximum frequency. The list of available frequencies can be found in the file sys / class / devfreq / dfrgx / available_frequencies. Values are valid until reboot.
Echo ROM version also updated
18.02.2016
Now there will be two different versions: for ZE551 and ZE550, I changed the parameters of the hotplug: at least 2 cores are always online (even if you put 1 core in the auditor, it will not work, I made at least 2 cores in the code), deleted the "number of simultaneously accelerated cores" parameter (because of it, the performance often sags), Fast lane has increased to 150 by default (so that the 3rd and 4th cores didn’t connect too often, in the WOT game with these settings almost complete order, there are short-term FPS subsidence from 60 to 52, if this can be called a subsidence, the chuckler ranges from about 58,400 to about 6 0200 points), increased the freq_calc_thresh frequency in the Interactive PRO governor from the minimum to 1 GHz
15.02.2016
Added and installed the default governor Interactive PRO, more adjustments settings hotplag
13.02.2016
Changed default settings of hotplag, included this patch into kernelPower Consumption - Asus ZenFone 2 (Post by Dr.Web97 # 45181970)(I didn’t have an opinion on its effectiveness, but it didn’t get any worse either), deleted Smartass governor, deleted forced kernels off after Interactive screen off Interactive governor (and why is it necessary if there is a hotplug that already disables 3 cores without load ?)
06.02.2016
Another driver to turn off unnecessary kernels without load (the device works faster with it than it did on the previous kernel, the battery consumption should also be less), we managed to adapt the Smartass H3 governor so that the core was assembled (but in my opinion, this governor does not work very well correctly with our device)
04.02.2016
I returned the governor of Interactive by default, made the disconnection of unnecessary cores without loadon absolutely any governor(i.e., the default Interactive also disconnects), the parameters of the hotplug can be adjusted via Kernel Auditor (CPU Hotplug item), deleted the Hotplug governor as useless
01.02.2016
I hope I finally ottyuningov Hotplug governor, now all the way trying to work on one core, until the last trying to work with a single core at a minimum frequency of 500 MHz, all 4 cores are included only under very heavy load (for example, when running the Stability Test) - and all this while maintaining sufficient interface smoothness, subjectively, the Pickup Anttu grew slightly, added the Hybrid Governor (for some reason it works only on three cores)
01.02.2016
Tuning Hotplug governor: now rarely jumps to maximum frequencies, the device works smoother
31.01.2016
How could I adapt and add the Hotplug governor and install it by default, on it extra kernels are disabled without loadhttps://youtu.be/MjAHXfC_hCs
30.01.2016
I returned the minimum frequency of 500 MHz (there are no brakes and friezes to reduce the frequency, there is no increase in autonomy, who claims the opposite - you are affected by the placebo effect), in the Interactive governor I returned the timer_rate to its original value, added the InteractiveX V2 governor, which I adapted for 4-core processors (2 processor cores are turned off as soon as the screen goes blank)
24.01.2016
Increased display brightness for devicesZE550ML, I now use the Interactive governor from the Asus ZenPad S 8.0 tablet (it is very interesting, it has some parameters that I haven’t seen in any other interactive, well, I also turned off the three cores in a dream in it)
23.01.2016
Replaced KSM with UltraKSM technology (see kernel description 14), tuning the Interactive governor: reduced the timer_rate from 20,000 to 15,000 (the device will be slightly more responsive), increased the value of above_hispeed_delay from 20,000 to 40,000 (the processor will stay at the hispeed_freq frequency longer before raise frequencies higher if it is really required)
17.01.2016
reworked sfi-cpufreq drivers, Interactive: govik tweak Interactive: hispeed_freq and touchboost_freq reduced by 500 MHz compared to stock values (less often, the percentage will jump to the maximum frequency)
13.01.2016
More changes in Interactive governor
12.01.2016
Some changes in the Interactive governor

09.01.2016
I hope I fixed spontaneous reboots (I received two complaints), again set TCP Westwood by default, removed the minimum brightness values from the screen drivers, now with the auto-brightness slider in the leftmost position the brightness is 5th level,
04.01.2016
I switched to the newest source code 2.20.40 of December 17, 2015, changed the old ramdisk to a new one from the 2.20.40.160 firmware core, now the TCP algorithm defaults to Veno
30.12.2015
a) Now when using Interactive Governor, 3 cores of 4x are disabled when the screen goes blank
b) I returned the video driver to its original state (I did not find an increase in autonomy from reducing the minimum frequency, even the opposite + slowdowns in games)
28.12.2015
a) Replaced the kernel compiler from the standard GCC 4.9-linux-android-x86_64 to the GCC SaberMod 4.8.5-linux-x86_64 toolchain
b) Added Hotplug to Interactive's native governor (when the screen goes blank, the two processor cores are turned off)
c) Added support for FS F2FS
d) Reduced the minimum frequency of the video card from 457 to 320 MHz
e) Increased the minimum frequency of the processor from 166 to 250 MHz (lightweight jams are boring)
20.12.2015
Fixed the USB HID-keyboard, and then the USB-keyboard prog hung when it was activated
20.12.2015
Added the function of using the device as a HID mouse, fixed the MTP mode
19.12.2015
Added the ability to use the device as a USB-HID keyboard (see paragraph 13 of the description), added the BFQ scheduler.
12.12.2015
Added 5 governors: BioShock, Lagfree, Lionheart, Wheatley, Yankactive
11.12.2015
Added schedulers (I / O scheduler) SIO, SIOplus, FIOPS, FIFO, VR, added a numeric kernel generator frandom, which, according to the author, is 10-50 times faster than his native
23.09.2015
By default, the native Interactive governor from source code 2.20.40 is used, but it was edited there, Intel turned on the default input_boost parameter, now the device will not slow down during daily use, that is, the curtain call is now smooth and so on (but , still, it is not suitable for games, because the latter keeps the minimum frequency)
13.09.2015
The maximum brightness of the display was raised up to 245 levels out of 255 possible (in the sink core, the level is much lower, it seems 170), in automatic mode with very bright ambient light the display brightness should also be set to 245 (not tested, fall outside, overcast) I returned the minimum brightness to the level laid by the manufacturer, level 15, because the increase in autonomy did not reveal
11.09.2015
I installed a slightly modified Intel governor by default (see clause 2 of the description), instead of Interactive from Zenfone 6, I returned my native Interactive, now even with frequent changes of governors there should be no device hangs, removed brightness levels<5, because they were not involved
05.09.2015
Reduced the minimum brightness of the display from 15 to 1% (for more: see item 11 in the description)
02.09.2015
Added the Zen scheduler, integrated the governors back into the core (perhaps it will save you from reboots that some people have when changing governors), changed the frequency of 249 MHz to 250 MHz, slightly corrected the Interactive governor, but if you look at the logs, there was an error " touchboostpulse: Permission denied "
1.09.2015 22:01
Reduced the minimum processor frequency to 166 MHz, added 333 MHz, fixed bugs with governors
1.09.2015
Reduced the minimum processor frequency to 249 MHz
18.08.2015
I used the newest source code 2.20.40, transferred a number of unused drivers and unused functionality from the kernel to the modules under normal conditions, switched SElinux from Enforcing to SElinux Permissive
12.08.2015
Now the instruction for installation from the phone through the terminal is simpler
11.08.2015
I assembled the kernel using the -Ofast optimization key, transferred third-party governors from the kernel to the modules, deleted the rmi4.ko module (it seems to be superfluous)
25.07.2015
I solved the problem associated with the inability to transfer and install applications on a memory card, now everything is OK, I changed the Interactive governor to Interactive from Zenfone 6 from source code 2.22.40 (Android 4.4.2)
20.07.2015
Replaced Interactive Governor from regular to Zenfone 6 Governor, added support for virtual machines, CIFS and NFS support, 550ML launch

Differences from stock:

The kernel is based on the newest Asus Zenfone Zoom source code dated February 18, 2016 (only the camera drivers are left from the native Zenfone 2 source code)
1.By default, I installed the Interactive governor (with Hotplug, that is, when the screen goes blank, then the two cores are disabled). Added CPU frequency control algorithms (CPU gorevnors) Powersave, Conservative, INTEL, BioShock, Lagfree, Lionheart, Wheatley, InteractiveX.
Attached Image

2. Assembled by the GCC 4.9 compiler using -Ofast optimizations (Google says that the code is optimized even better than with -O3 optimization) and Silvermont, the interface has become faster. The programs run faster (or maybe a placebo: D), used AOSP 5.1 when building .1_r30, not 5.0.0_r7, as Asus recommends
Attached Image

3. Added I / O Schedulers (I / O sheduler) Deadline, Zen, SIO, SIOplus, FIOPS, FIFO, VR
Attached Image

You can change governors and schedulers with special programs for controlling the processor, for example,No-frills CPU Control (ROOT rights are required!)

4. Set up the processor for the "one core per module" mode instead of the stock "2 cores per module", i.e. when changing the load, not immediately 2 or 4 cores will change the frequency, but each one by one
Attached Image

5. Added supportinit.d scripts(ROOT required)
To activate init.d you need:
a) Install BusyBoxto xbin folder
b) In the system / etc folder, create the init.d folder and put rwx r-x r-x permissions on it, i.e. the letter P (755)
c) Throw scripts into it and ensure that they have the same permissions.

6. For fun, added support for SWAP
Attached Image

7. Added support for CIFS (Shared File System for the Internet) and NFS (Network File Access Protocol). Honestly, I didn’t check the performance, but the CIFS Manager module cifs.ko loads
8. Added support for virtual machines Kernel-based virtual machine, that is, now, in theory, Windows will start on my kernel, as it was done on XDA
9.SElinux Permissive
10. Reduced minimum display brightness
11. Numerical kernel generator - frandom, which should speed up applications that require the generation of a huge number of random numbers
12. Added the ability to use the device as a USB-HID keyboard and mouse to control a PC
[attachment = "7274176: Unnamed.png"]
, for this you need to install and use the program from the markethttps: //play.google.co….keyboard.client&hl=en[b]
13. Replaced KSM technology with UKSM, a brief description and its advantages over the outdated KSM can be read here.
https://habrahabr.ru/post/143083/. By default, I did not include this technology, if you want to use it, you need root and the Kernel auditor program, where in the Kernel Samepage Merging section you can enable it and, if necessary, put it into autorun
14. Video card overlock up to 106 MHz
15. supports ZRAM with LZ4 compression
16. NTFS support for external OTG flash drives

The necessary condition for installing the kernel must be unlocked bootloader. If you have firmware 2.19.40.22 and the bootloader is not unlocked, then you need to roll back to firmware 2.19.40.20, unlock the bootloader on it, install the update over the air to 2.19.40.22 and 2.20.40.58. Either use this scriptUnlocking the bootloader without undoing the firmware Without unlocking, get a HALFWAY, which is easy to spread out: flash the stock kernel from the fastboot with the command fastboot flash boot boot.img

If suddenly there are glitches after installing the kernel, zhor and other troubles, clear the cache, if not help, then Dalvik-cache. Then wait for the Google services to fail.

1. The maximum frequency limits and the minimum frequency increase above 500 MHz through third-party programs work correctly only with the first CPU0 core, on the other three cores, sooner or later, the frequencies are reset to those installed in the driver (500-2333 / 1833 MHz). The trick to limit the frequency on all coresAsus ZenFone 2 - Custom firmware (Post BORETS24 # 48486611)

Find more, write ...

To work correctly on the ZE550ML (if you suddenly installed the version from 551 by mistake and laziness to download and sew another):
1. Install BusyBoxto xbin folder
2. In the system / etc folder, create the init.d folder and put the rwx r-x r-x permissions on it, i.e. the letter P (755)
3. Throw a script from the archive into it Attached filedpi320.zip(215 bytes)

4. Restart the machine.

After installing the custom kernel (any, not just mine) will beimpossibleupdates by air because these are changes in the system. To be updated by air, you need to flash back the native boot.img and return the libext2_blkid.so native library to its place. Even after flashing the boot.img firmware, the bootloader will remain unlocked.

Here I have crammed out a small manual for those who want to flash TWRP (you can also flash the firmware, there are a few other commands)

  1. Install all drivers (ADB, USB)
  2. Unlock the bootloader (see instructions in the header)
  3. Download the recovery of the version that we want to install (ZE550ML = Z008 / ZE551ML = Z00A)
  4. Copy the downloaded file into the folder with ADB (for example, C: \ adb \)
  5. Turn on USB debugging in the smartphone (located in the settings for developers)
  6. We connect the included smartphone to the computer via USB cable
  7. Open the folder with ADB and with the clamped cipher press on the free space with the right mouse button, select "Open command line"
  8. In the ADB window that opens, enter
    adb reboot bootloader

  9. After the reboot, the smartphone will enter Fastboot mode, enter the command in the ADB
    fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

recovery.img - should correspond to the name of your recovery file, or initially rename it to this name
  10. After completing the previous item, take the smart and the volume down button select RECOVERY MODE
  11. By pressing the power button, we get into the long-awaited cancer

If your bootloader is not unlocked, you will not be able to enter the custom recovery, you will always return to the magic robot menu!
If you have Windows 8, see the instructions for installing unsigned drivers.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

CM12.1 port from ze551ml to ze550ml
Link to cm12.1

Gaps

Important!
After flashing the archive, do not start the system, but do so:
mount the system (in twrp mount, select system and press enable mount). then go to the advanced / file manager and follow the path system / etc / init.d, look for the dpi320 script, click on it and click chmod 755, then you can already enter the system
If you do everything as written, then cm will work like a clock, although one minus - the auto-rotate does not work

CM12, CM13 Installation Instructions

0. Just in case, make a backup of the current firmware, if you do not like CM. There are many ways to backup it - google help.
1. Unlock the bootloader according to the instructions.from this post
2. Download the necessary CM firmware
3. Throw the firmware file into the root of the phone (do not unzip!)
4. We are stitching TWRP:
Can so
-download it
-zip
-connect the phone to the computer (with debugging enabled (10 tapes by the build number) from the developer menu)
- go to the files folder
-At the root of the folder with the Shift pressed, right-click>Open command window
-in the command line write adb reboot bootloader
-when the boot loader loads write fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
- then choose recovery on the phone with the volume rocker and press the power button

5. Now you should boot TWRP, if this happened, you can sew CM:
Can so
- go to the Wipe section, slide the slide
- go to the Install section, select the firmware archive, move the slide
-If the archive is sewn with an error, it means that you did not wipe everything - wipe the cache / dalwick, etc. and repeat

6. After installing CM, you can flash gapps if you need google services:
Can so
-download GApps
- upload the archive to the root of the phone
-proshit file via TWRP as in paragraph 5

7. Enjoy cyan bugs :))

Script for the convenience of flashing the recovery and kernel

The script can also:
  • restart the phone in different modes
  • install arch files
  • restore bricks by pre-storing the RAW archive into the utility folder (all drivers must be installed)
  • install or delete root on stock
  • view errors in logcat and save dmesg

The source of installing and removing the root

  • Drivers must be installed and the bootloader unlocked (bestaccording to this instruction)!
  • When rebuilding bricks, the phone must be fully charged!
  • To install the root, unlocking the bootloader is not required, but be sure to remove all OTA updates in the internal memory of the phone!
  • Remove root before installing a firmware update!
  • For the normal functioning of the script after installing the drivers, you must reboot from the reboot menu in different modes and check the drivers are installed correctly!

In the boot folder we throw and rename
  • boot1.img - custom
  • boot2.img - stock

In the recovery folder, we throw and rename
  • recovery1.img - custom
  • recovery2.img - stock

Attached fileAsus ZenFone 2 Utility_v04.exe(24.67 MB)
When installing RAW firmwareformatted data sectionfor normal start

The installation path is not changed, it will be installed in the root of the C: \ Asus ZenFone 2 Utility drive. A shortcut ZF2.bat will appear on the desktop, and launch it

Running Windows on ZF2(transfer). Original onXDA

What is required to run (ZE551ML):
1. Kernel with KVM (You can take hereor use any other kernel with kvm)
2. Linux chroot - used Linux Deploy (can be downloaded on Google Play)
3. Spice client - aSPICE was used (can be downloaded from Google Play)
4. Route
5. Unlocked bootloader - without an unlocked bootloader you will not be able to install the kernel
6. Terminal emulator - used Terminal Emulator (can be downloaded on Google Play)
7. SSH client - used VX ConnectBot (can be downloaded on Google Play)
8. Busybox
9. OS iso - any disk image with the installation of the operating system that you want to run

Optional:
1. MicroSD large volume (for partitioning on logical drives and installation)
2. Program for dividing a memory card into sections - Aparted was used (can be downloaded on Google Play)

After unlocking the download and getting Root rights, you need to do the following:
1. Flash img kernels with kvm and reboot the device. Hope that everything went well.
2. Run Terminal Emulator
2a. In the line with the $ sign write: su
2b. Give Root rights to terminal emulator
2c. Check that kvm.ko and kvm-intel.ko are running by typing:
lsmod

2d. If not running, start by typing:
insmod /lib/modules/kvm.ko
insmod /lib/modules/kvm-intel.ko

2e. Exit terminal emulators by writing:
exit
exit
Yes, twice, this is not a mistake.
3. OPTIONAL: Split your microSD into sections using Aparted
4. Using Linux Deploy, install the most preferred Linux distribution. If you do not hope to compile the kernel, you can use any distribution. Use SSH ONLY. Installation may take up to half an hour.
5. After Linux Deploy installs the distribution, click Start to start it.
6. Use SSH client to connect to your linux distribution.
7. Use package manager to install qemu-kvm for your distribution. Debian & Ubuntu distros use apt-get, Arch uses pacman, Fedora uses rpm, etc ...
8. I recommend making the qemu-kvm startup script. Because remembering all the settings is simple: censored:.

Script
-----------------
qemu-system-x86_64 -full-screen -m 1G -enable-kvm -cpu host \
-drive file = / mnt / 0 / machine1.img, format = raw -boot menu = on \
--usbdevice tablet -smp 4 -vga qxl -monitor stdio -balloon virtio \
-soundhw hda-net nic, model = virtio \
-net user, smb = / mnt / microSD \
-spice port = 5900, addr = 127.0.0.1, disable-ticketing $ @

-------------------
! ENSURE THAT AFTER the "\" signno space!
I called the script start_win7.sh

Explanation of the script:
8a. qemu-system-x86_64 - This is the name of qemu-kvm on my Arch x86_64
8b. -full-screen - full screen
8c. -m 1G - 1GB RAM for a virtual machine
8d. -enable-kvm - allow KVM, that's the point
8e. -cpu host - use the same cpu information as on our ZF2
8f. -drive file = / mnt / 0 / machine1.img, format = raw - the location of the hard disk, this is a 10-bit file
8g. -boot menu = on - resolution boot menu (by pressing F12, etc.)
8h. -usbdevice tablet - Qemu cannot track the position of the mouse, so we force it to track the screen touches
8i. -smp 4 - using 4 threads (kernels)
8j. -vga qxl - use qxl vga adapter
8l. -monitor stdio - allows you to use the console (to make immediate changes in the virtual machine)
8m. -balloon virtio - use the virtio balloon feature in the KVM core
8n. -soundhw hda - use Intel HD Audio driver for sound
8o. -net nic, model = virtio - create a network card using the virtual IO feature in the KVM core
8p. -net user, smb = / mnt / microSD — create a shared folder. In our case, this is the vFAT section on the memory card.
8q. -spice port = 5900, addr = 127.0.0.1, disable-ticketing - start the SPICE engine for audio and video
8r. $ @ - any additions

So the start_win7.sh file should look likeSo:

#! / bin / bash

qemu-system-x86_64 -full-screen -m 1G -enable-kvm -cpu host \
-drive file = / mnt / 0 / machine1.img, format = raw -boot menu = on \
--usbdevice tablet -smp 4 -vga qxl -monitor stdio -balloon virtio \
-soundhw hda-net nic, model = virtio \
-net user, smb = / mnt / microSD \
-spice port = 5900, addr = 127.0.0.1, disable-ticketing $ @

8s. chmod + x start_win7.sh will make it executable
9. Start the qemu-kvm virtual machine, referencing the location of your windows installation image
./start_win7.sh -cdrom /mnt/MicroSD/Vcd/en_windows7.iso
9a. Qemu will start and you will see:
QEMU 2.3.0 monitor - type 'help' for more information
(qemu)

9b. You can write QEMU commands in line if you need
10. Run aSPICE
11. Click on the OFF button to the left of the Advanced Settings.
12. Make sure the Enable Sound checkbox is selected. If not, put
13. The default connection is 127.0.0.1:5900, click Connect

At this point, you should see the start of the Windows installation.

After installation you will need virtualization drivers. You can try these (suitable for Windows 10):
Virtio Drivers
SPICE Guest Drivers(download QXL driver and Spice Agent, the executable file does not work)
Windows 8 QXL Drivers from Red Hat People

Manual for those who have a cyan and do not like the minimum brightness level, if they did not know about it.
Only an installed cyan is required, perhaps on other cyan-based custom bikes.
1. Go to: settings - screen and display - LiveDisplay.
2. Open the color item, there we pull all the sliders to the preferred brightness, but always to the same level of all the sliders (otherwise the colors will be wrong, as you can see).
3. We are glad that you can use it at night without straining :)

After a week of use, I decided to write a review on the euphoria firmware. Maybe someone will help. So:
After installing the sims were connected immediately, the reboot was not needed. The screen is brighter relative to the drain, the battery holds more, the sound is louder, more RAM is free.
What I did right away: I deleted a couple of applications, put the gaps and Ruth. Customized for yourself.
And in the end I got a great device for everyday use.
And now a fly in the ointment: the camera is the problem of all cm firmware. But she almost overcame her. The main camera is perfectly removed by the asus camera, the VSCO camera is best shot at the front. But the stock also shoots well, there is already the taste and color. The flash works, but not in the stock asus camera. Also, some modes in the asus camera do not work. But HDR and auto works. There is one very strange bug, if you press the music playback and immediately press the volume button, the player hangs. It is necessary to adjust the volume after 5 seconds of sound and everything will be fine.
Oh yeah, there is still a custom kernel. Phone ze551 2/16
The verdict is, you can use, everything is not bad As long as I stay on it. But if they do not fix the camera, I will return to the stock. There it is much better.
Total:
+ faster interface
+ more customization
+ battery lasts longer
+ sound louder
+ in my opinion more acceptable system
+ more convenient settings

periodic departures
-camera
-some applications go worse than on the drain, but heavy games go faster.
- bug with volume.

Like this. Review made for beginners who doubt about whether to cast or not. It is useful to put in the cap next to the link to euphoria, I think)

Screenshots below: I will explain about battery statistics. The phone was charged for 90 hours listening to music and 40 minutes 4ji internet in VC and browser. A total of 75%. Unfortunately, I forgot to scribble all statistics completely :)

I use cyan 12.1 2 day, while a short review. 550ML Apparatus
I put the assembly on the 8th to test it. Immediately put the gapps. At first glance, the firmware is beautiful, fast. On the other hand there are bugs that do not immediately detect. And the first and main joint is a camera, a very unstable job, pictures of poor quality, especially after runoff, in general, the main fat minus of cyan. After, the power button, the problem of the core / governor, or the joint of the 8th, does not work well enough.
The first SIM card slot works well, does not fall off, unfortunately I do not use the second SIM card.
Firmware flexibly configured, did everything for themselves, put the topicCLACin order to improve the appearance.
After installing the kernel, the firmware is suitable for normal use, set up governors, holds 5-6 hours of screen with 3g.
The sound suits me, not worse than on the drain, although I'm not an audiophile, but just a music lover :)
Games both went well and go
Pluses at first glance:
1. Speed
2. Autonomy after runoff
3. Design (IMHO)
4. less loaded RAM
5. Customization
Minuses:
1. Camera (trouble of all custom based on cyan)
2. Bugs in the most unexpected places
The rest has not yet revealed.

I recommend to anyone who is tired of stock, or need autonomy :)

Hello everyone, I decided to write a review about cm12.1 for ze550ml
pros
  • speed: slightly faster than stock, but quite a bit
  • autonomy: an hour of active screen more than on the drain
  • naked android (but here as someone)
  • personalization

Minuses
  • camera
  • I did not notice other minuses and glitches

I do not deny that there are bugs on cm, but I did not notice them
Also do not say that cm is not usable! For me it is better than runoff (IMHO)
