Instructions:
Complete User Guide:
Restore or replace the router software:
  • 1. If there are no problems for users when switching from official to alternative firmware, an attempt to replace one alternative firmware with another may cause difficulties. For example, if you want to replace OpenWRT with DD-WRT (and other combinations), you will need to roll back to the factory software from the web interface and then upgrade to the desired one.
  • 2. This router is practically not killed (in terms of experiments with software), but a situation may arise when it is necessary to recover, but there is no access to the web interface. Then we do this (an example for revision v2, therefore the files are substituted for the revision corresponding to yours):time, two, three. Firmware for recovery via tftpd revision 3.

Examplerestore and configure the router (ver.1) with Gargoyle, NDIS modem (3372) + unlimited bonuses ;-)

* Bitmask777, Respect your time and the time of your interlocutors. You have already been given a link. Everything is written there. Do not forget to save the official firmware settings and prepare in advance a complete set of software for recovery in case of unsuccessful firmware. Most likely you will not need it, but if suddenly - you will be calmer in the first place. TP-LINK TL-WR842ND - Discussion (Post by butaford # 86160457)

TL-WR842N (RU) Ver: 5.0
Need a hint from the owners. I tried all possible variations of the names of the firmware file and the addresses of the tftpd server. Does not take off.
The tftpd log is empty, but it is clear that the connection is being dropped.

Are these firmware relevant today?

The firmware is of course oldish, but normally working.

How to flash OpenWRT?

There is a very simple way - download the factory firmware, open it in the hex editor and look for the word recovery

* agat43,
I was late with the answer, but all the same:
Installation method (s): TFTP generic, see git-commit
Recovery method (s): TFTP generic
Comment recovery: put image file tp_recovery.bin (renamed * squashfs-tftp-recovery.bin) to192.168.0.225/ 24 tftp server

Fair. I'm not lying. If you know what you need - everything is written.

Hello! I look closely at TP-LINK TL-WR842N, but the question arose: is the speed on the lan cut strongly?

* sanches2.3.6,
On the LAN speed is usually not cut, only on the wafer. What version are you looking at?

Yes, the N mode is still, with such a link, the speed will be 30-40 Mbit / s.

I checked it on another body (2019g), it shows a connection of 72mb, when the old one is 65. The difference is certainly not big, but you can overclock the wafer faster? : sveta:
Or does it depend on the provider?
Worth on only N

Worth on only N

depends on the client (the phone in this case), who no longer knows how, the provider has nothing to do with it.

And on which device the waffle can deliver its 300mb declared by the manufacturer?
Well, or at least 200?

On account of the old age of the receiving bodies, the router itself 2012 (or even older?), I have the bodies 2013 and 2019

Or is it up to 300 indicated by the type of maximum transmitting capacity of the router, for example, from a 4g modem?

Phones / tablets are taken from someone with this router "100mb?
I have a version of the router v1.0

Hello.

They gave this router v1 - I want to put in the country. The question is - I still do not understand, does 1 revision support USB modems? If yes, then poke your nose into the firmware - I found it only for later revisions.

Does 1 revision support USB modems?

The firmware does not support, you need to sew an alternative. In the header and in the theme for v1 there are a lot of different firmware: Of modems and men, OpenWRT, Gargolye and others that support the modem.

* Xalio,
And before the pile:
We raise 4G connection on Openwrt
It is described for the v3 router, but at the end of the message there is an addition for v1.
