The device works steadily OpenWrt 15.05 in both bands (N + AC)
To enable WiFi AC, you need to install an additional kmod-ath10k package and manually replace the adapter firmware
Worker firmware are herehttp://www.candelatech.com/ath10k-10.1.php
On OpenWrt 15.05.1 has not yet tested

Yes, there is nothing complicated.
Downloadingfrom here ready openwrt image, then go to the webmord router in the Administration - Update microcode section. We select there the update point through the search on the computer of the previously downloaded firmware and, in fact, we are sewing.
I highly recommend not to flash if you don’t know specifically why you need OpenWrt. Russian after the firmware will not be necessary to download additional packages. You can return to stock firmware after dancing with tambourines.
Come and smoke and smokethis pageandthis must, both before and after.

Once again,OpenWrt for advanced users only.

Filled himself 15.05.1, like nothing at all.

Tell me, is the screw inserted into the router or just by the lace?

Concerning dances with tambourines and other musical instruments.
I used OpenWrt and decided to return to stock, but it was not there. The firmware for switching from OpenWrt to stock, which lay on the site of the custom, was not in any way flooded either through the web-face, or through programs like tftpd and winscp.
During the lengthy killing of one’s health, namely the active smoking of forums, the following was revealed:
- there are 2 versions of the router, differing in hardware, but with the same name - for the European market and for all others
- firmware for them is different!
Actually, the firmware have a name:
- R6100_XXXXX.img - for the European market
- JR6100_XXXXXX.img
Current firmware version:
- R6100-V1.0.1.10- for the European market
- JR6100-V1.0.1.16- for everyone else.
And now I will bringself-instruction manualwith minor corrections to the router firmware:
1)First of all, we connect the router via LAN-port 1 (they are subscribed to the router by the dial on the back) to the computer network card.
In the settings of the network interface (Control Panel-Network and Sharing Center-Change adapter settings-Local Area Connection) we assign a static IP to the network interface card
IP address 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
We do not specify anything else.
Attached Image

We unpack the firmware on the C: \ drive directly to the root (in our example it will be R6100-V1.0.1.10.img).
Now you need to activate the TFTP client, with which we will upload the firmware to the router, go: Start->Control Panel-Programs and Components-Turning Windows components on or off. Check the TFTP Client and OK.
Attached Image

2)Preparing the router. To fill the firmware, you need to put the router into recovery mode; to do this, turn it off with the button (located behind the router), we will need a clip or any thin object that we insert in the weigh to reset. Press the power button and turn on the router, while continuing to hold the reset button (hold it for at least 15 seconds), after that the router goes into recovery mode. A sign that the router is in this mode - the LED indicating the power status starts flashing. After that, you can release the reset button and return to our PC.
3)Filling stock firmware on the router.
Open the command line (Start-Run, type cmd)
Attached Image

In the opened terminal we type
tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put C: \ R6100-V1.0.1.10.img

The system will think a little and after that it will produce something like (in this example, the firmware R6100-V1.0.1.10.img is renamed to 116.img):
Attached Image

Do not close the terminal until the router is resuscitated.
After that, it remains to wait, the router will start flashing LEDs, they will glow yellow. We are waiting for the moment when the diodes: Power will glow green, and the Internet diode will turn blue. normal system boot. It will take about 2 minutes.
In no case do not turn off or restart the router during its flashing! If the power goes off, the router can be brought back to life only with the help of the programmer (and even if he is in a coma).
After that we go to the WEB interface, at the address: 192.168.1.1 and see the familiar interface.
Login and password are standard, indicated on the label of the router.

If more than 5 minutes have passed after the firmware, and the indicator flashes, it means that you have filled in the wrong firmware. In the terminal, give the same command, but with a different firmware.

I'll add one more thing. If after the firmware you still cannot access www.routerlogin.net or 192.168.1.1 in the settings of the router, but at the same time it responds (this was my first; I didn’t pick the reason for this), that is, the way out of this situation. You are booting from a Ubuntu liveCD, for example, or any other unix live distribution kit, and there you already quietly set up a router through Mozilla. All successful firmware!

Good afternoon!
Has anyone ever happened that the latest firmware JR6100_R6100-V1.0.1.12 is not perceived by the router? He writes that this is a firmware from another device and does not flood it.
Judging by the changelog, there are a lot of fixes compared to V1.0.1.10, I would like to use a new one, but something in any way.

Upd.
The Netgear forum describes the same problem:http://forum.netgear.ru/viewtopic.php?id=8337
The reason is a router without the RUS prefix (wherever it is). The solution is to wait until the actual firmware for the European version of the router appears.

I read, you have a slightly different situation (the transition from OpenWRT to stock) and the prefixes were not entirely clear.
With the Russian version (with mystical RUS) and firmware 1.0.1.12 some kind of its own story ...

Fat guys assembled firmware 1.12 based on non-European sources, which brought routers into a coma. At one time I smoked forums on this topic.
I tried to upload all of the above firmware, so to speak, I tested empirically, by confirming what was written on the forums. Actually, therefore, he wrote his opus so that no one else would get caught.
For European routers, the latest firmware is 1.10.

Recently, the Internet began to disappear on a saber router. According to the logs - every 10 minutes (plus / minus a couple of seconds) the router caught the network scan (apparently from the provider), which he called DoS attack SYN / ACK scan, RST Scan, ACK Scan, ARP Scan. After this "attack", the Internet fell by 30-60 seconds, which was somewhat frustrating.
I tried earlier firmware versions: I made a downgrade from 1.0.1.10 to 1.0.0.62, and then to 1.0.0.60 - the errors remained, the Internet fell.

In the settings I turned off the protection against DoS attacks, they disappeared in the logs, but this did not solve the problem - the Internet continued to fall steadily.
It turned out that there are many similar stories on Netgear routers, for example, here.

As a result, I solved the problem with OpenWrt firmware 15.05.1from here(file "openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-nand-r6100-ubi-factory.img").

While normal flight.

If you cannot enter the settings of the router, but at the same time it is pinged (this was my first; I didn’t thoroughly pick the reason) ...

In general, in the literal sense of the word, I did not sleep for several nights in search of a solution. And yet I found some way out that turned out to be very simple in my case - it was required to correctly register a range of local networks. I have a grid configured for several devices. By default I registered the address 56.xxx.xxx.xxx, which was a mistake. I must note that I am very far from networks, only elementary things. I smoked manuals on networks and learned something useful from this:
Attached Image

Attached Image

Those. it turned out that when typing the router's address, the browser did not access it, but to a certain computer on the Internet somewhere in the USA (it is theoretically possible that I connected to Trump's laptop; apparently, therefore, they accused him of having connections with the RF). However, why from under the LiveCD I entered this address in the router remains a mystery.
And one more touch. This was not observed on the old Zyxel NBG334EE router. The old man handled everything perfectly and understood, in fact, he now carefully lies in the box. Hard worker. But after it, I tried it already (I took them for the 5 GHz-band and all this cant):
- Lynksys EA6200 / EA6300
- Netgear R6100
- Zyxel X650

If anyone else has any thoughts, notes, share.

I have already changed my R6100 under warranty twice - it suddenly stopped working.
The first was bought in the United States at a sale, worked, worked, then blinking lights.
The second one was sent under warranty from Yaroslavl instead of the first one.

The second was OpenWRT, but only to overcome the initial bugs - every ten minutes there was a disconnection.
Then the second suddenly ceased to distribute the Internet via WiFi. The firmware on the drain through tftp / tftp2 did not help, and only one power light was burning yellow ...

Now the third, some kind of ancient (there was firmware 1.0.0.42, printed materials from 2013), also sent from Yaroslavl.
Updated to the latest firmware, already a week without complaints.

Well at least those. support changes routers without problems, communication with them is simple and clear, and replacement takes place very quickly (after 2 days from the date the router arrives, a new one comes in).

And, here, all Zyxel, which is (three pieces) for several years working without interruption and with a very rare firmware update.
