This model of a router in the form of a brick came to me. I decided to revive. I don’t know the history of turning around, but all the standard attempts to restore the firmware do not lead to anything. When you turn on the router, all the LEDs light up briefly and go out. It does not enter into recovery modes. When connected to any LAN port, the corresponding LED lights up and flashes as during packet transmission, but does not distribute IP. When you configure the network card to the address 192.168.1.X, there is also no connection, and there is no ping to the address 192.168.1.1 either. I decided to connect through the service UART port. In the console issues the following:


After 10 seconds, the console hangs and nothing can be entered. I tried using tftp using the flash -noheader: flash.trx mini dd-wrt firmware command, but again, after 10 seconds, the router hangs and the connection times out. What are the options and suggestions for revitalizing bricks?

Many people write about this problem in the internet, nothing helped.
I patched the rt-n16 router and it seemed there were even no errors, but the firmware was installed crookedly.

Judging by the flashing power light, the router is in recovery mode, but the utility (asus firmware restoration) does not see this. I tried to connect / disconnect the power cord when the restore button was pressed, there is no effect. The power button starts to flash only after pressing the device connected to the network.

Tell me how to revive the router, without resorting to the services of SC

Restored on this guide:
1 Download and unzip the firmware
2 Install the utilities from the supplied disk (you will need the Firmware Restoration utility)
3 Configure the network settings of the computer (in TCP / IP properties) with the IP address 192.168.1.2 mask 255.255.255.0
4 Connect the computer to any of the LAN ports of the router.
5 Turn off the power on the router, press the WPS button. The red button is on the back of the router and hold it on, turn on the power, the power button will flash continuously for 30 seconds.
6 Turn off the power on the router, press the Restore button and hold it, turn on the power, hold the button for 10-15 seconds until the power indicator flashes continuously.
7 Run the Firmware Restoration utility, specify the path to the firmware and load it into the router.
8 The screen should display the process of downloading the firmware to the router. (while the power indicator is off and the lan indicator blinks indicating packet transmission)
9 After downloading the firmware and rebooting the router, try entering the menu through the browser.http://192.168.1.1

From what I have nothing to do, I decided to redo this old man under an ftp server. The only thing left is that I wanted to install the padovan firmware, but it is not for it at all. And so, the flight is excellent. I took the controller from a portable hard disk, stuck my own into it. Soldered to the usb +/- connector for the fan (which is directly sent to the radiator), put the firmware from the merlin and overclocked the percent. To the second usb connector I soldered the wire to the HDD and voila. As I said earlier, I would like to properly set up FTP, because when I add a user to the FTP reading mode, all the folders that I have hidden are visible. Why they are visible, FIG knows, the main access to them is not. I think in the future to do a flashing under dd-wrt and do everything fine and not through the stump. This is how boring weekdays go by :)

Update: I soldered the cooler from usb and soldered the 12V power connector. Noise of course increased, but the cause of soldering was unstable work. Periodically knocked out the HDD and it was lost, respectively, the server was not working. I re-soldered and now I'm waiting, if everything will be the same, I will look for other ways to solve this problem.
