Description:
The ASUS DSL-N12U ADSL2 + router enables wireless Internet access using an existing ADSL network. This device is equipped with a built-in USB-port, which is used to connect peripheral devices: 3G / 4G modem, printer or scanner. These devices can use all computers connected to the network. This model is universal, as it can function as a router or ADSL modem. Applications of Annex standards extend the capabilities of the incoming stream and increase its speed to 24 Mbps. ASUS DSL-N12U has a standard Wi-Fi module and 2 external removable antennas, which amplify the signal by 5 dBi. Due to this, the connection speed can reach 300 Mbps. Built-in 19 dBM transmitter enhances signal range and stability. Yeah ... Almost understandable)) And tell me, can the DSL-N12U B1 do this?
I didn’t find anything in the settings, which I could do, that he wouldn’t give out, but accept something ...
Probably, "I do not know how to cook them."

I have a ban on the yota site in the rules of the sysadmin, that is, in theory, he can still work with it, or is it just a safety net of the provider, so as not to jump off? ))))

Finally managed to get OpenWrt on this Shaytanka!
http://i.imgur.com/NfowJu0.png

Boot log:http://pastebin.com/WNkpucfr

Firmware:https://www.sendspace.com/file/kjlvgj

The patch for git (svn at the time of loading the code did not work, downloaded from git: //git.openwrt.org/openwrt.git, from the stable git: //git.openwrt.org/15.05/openwrt.git should also go fine) :http://pastebin.com/XzDckxXg
DTS file for the beast:https://www.sendspace.com/file/9ckki8
My config:http://pastebin.com/bd61mmnr
You are already on the basis of my config can add / remove modules for yourself and assemble your firmware.

Or here all together:https://yadi.sk/d/veID50z5uFxee

Everything was going on Debian 7.9 (3.2.0-4-686-pae # 1 SMP Debian 3.2.73-2 + deb7u2 i686 GNU / Linux)

I managed to upload firmware to the device only through the Firmware Restoration utility (included in the ASUS DSL-N12U B1 Utility kit):https://www.asus.com/r..._B1/HelpDesk_Download/
Turn off the subject, clamp the reset button and, without releasing it, turn on the router and hold for about three seconds (exactly visible through the console), select the file openwrt-ramips-rt305x-dsl-n12u-initramfs-uImage.bin and click the Download button and wait 5 minutes until everything is loaded and the subject will reboot.

One problem, you need to edit the file / target / linux / ramips / image / Makefile (edited in a patch)
since the utility does not flash the file due to an incorrect image name in the hider (the original is MIPS OpenWrt Linux-4.4.14, I have 0000DSL-N12U), I had to be perverted, for good it’s possible to do something else, but I don’t know how

Well, I haven’t figured out the indication yet: power, wi-fi, and lan1-4 work fine, and the internet is constantly on, adsl is not on at all (although there will be no dsl, you can screw the diode for something else;))
If you twist the DTS file, you can tune the display.

IMPORTANT: firmware file size should not exceed 3.9 MB !!! Otherwise, the modem will reset the reception file! I suffered with this when building an image with openvpn, too heavy, it is possible to simply compile it, but do not include it in the firmware (M - can be installed using opkg after OpenWrt firmware), for details, see.https://wiki.openwrt.org/ru/doc/howto/build

P.S. I apologize if something is not so laid out, with a bad sign.

Tell me how you put the patch, what teams ?? The firmware has risen, but after the reboot, the entire config flies. where do you want to shove?

I did not put the patch, I myself ruled the files, and then I received the patch file.
And what teams to put - probably first git apply --check<patch_file>, then if everything is ok - git apply<patch_file>

At the expense of the config - I do not know, apparently you need to dig further and see what the console says while saving the config ... In general, sort out further ...

P.S. Maybe the problem is because of the jffs2 FS? I included it in the firmware (CONFIG_TARGET_ROOTFS_JFFS2 = y), apparently in vain ...

-Ash command: git: not found
when trying to enter a patch file with git, I can put it in any directory, as well as the question if you look at the patch, then the target / linux / ramips / image / Makefile paths are written in it, and there is no such path in the structure itself.
can be more detailed what and where to rule ?? or how to put the module on git?
Can I have a full list of patch installation commands?
Running i terminal on ssh, what do I do next?

Openwrt sources downloaded?

sudo apt-get install subversion git build-essential

git clone git: //git.openwrt.org/openwrt.git

cd ~ / openwrt

https://wiki.openwrt.org/ru/doc/howto/build

Naturally, everything is done not on the router, but on a computer or virtual machine.

P.S. The patch is designed for OpenWrt sources!

Well, then you did the firmware badly. because does not work. as I understand you did everything on the virtual machine, assembled the image and laid out (did you check the image?) after installing your image, what should I do in it ??? what do you need to patch ???

if you don’t need to do anything, then how to run 4g yota? We stick in and zero effect, you can correct the image so that the config is saved after the reboot.

I'll try to rebuild the firmware. And my fault is that the firmware file is laid out incomplete.

From herehttps://habrahabr.ru/post/264843/
In this way:
uImage contains the minimum necessary functionality for running OpenWRT and due to this, its structure can be easily changed so that it passes validation checks in the Web interfaces of the original firmware.
Sysupgrade is more complex and uses Linux-specific tools - SquashFS and JFFS2.
Both types of images do not contain a bootloader (and should not)
When flashing through the bootloader (via UART or disaster recovery), you can immediately sew sysuprade.
With firmware via mtd_write, if this utility is available via telnet from the official firmware, you can also immediately sew sysupgrade.

those. we need sysupgrade, not uImage

Thank you, I will wait for a full firmware from you, and does it work on your 4g router? openwrt has a function to save the firmware: :)

Updated firmware files on Ya.Disk

First, flash openwrt-ramips-rt305x-dsl-n12u-initramfs-uImage.bin through the Asus utility

Further, without setting anything up, flush from the web muzzle openwrt-ramips-rt305x-dsl-n12u-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

After that, you can configure what you want, the config is saved after the reboot - checked. Don't forget to switch to normal mode in the web-face, the default is Fail-Safe

To support iota, you will need to connect the router with a wire to the Internet (or download the instructions from herehttp://allsetting.ru/t…040-openwrt-yota-lte/)and install the necessary packages: kmod-usb-net kmod-usb-net-asix kmod-usb-net-cdc-ether kmod-usb-net-rndis kmod-ath9k (they didn’t check it in Google). kmod-usb2 and kmod-usb-ohci are already embedded in the firmware

well and the most important thing is to configure the router, here I am sorry, somehow myself

I needed to build and install OpenWrt - I assembled and installed, Mission complete

Maybe someone will take up the reassembly and configuration, but I have no time to do this.

Full firmware 15.05.1https://yadi.sk/d/SFUg5l81uKFYq
List of moduleshttp://pastebin.com/rTwUaTAv. Based on this article.https: //wiki.openwrt.o...outer-with-a-3g-dongle
ath9k is not included in the firmware, so not in the source. Hopefully, the iota will still fly.

After firmware reset settings

I forgot to add: flash from under the web muzzle. If you screwed up the firmware, then first with the help of the Asusov utility, flashhttps://yadi.sk/d/_kswRsYtuKdD4(initramfs-uImage)
After downloading, go to the LUCI web-muzzle and flash the full firmwarehttps://yadi.sk/d/SFUg5l81uKFYq

The current link to the firmware (as well as patches for git) herehttps://yadi.sk/d/veID50z5uFxee

On the original firmware, the download speed is not more than 55 Mbit, the distribution is even less.
And what about this on OpenWRT?

I put everything according to the instructions, I take firmware from the last posts ...
it stupidly does not give access for setting, it gives it to configure, but after rebooting it does not understand the password ... but, sometimes it pretends that it works
while never managed to set up the Internet, even by cable ...
maybe something wrong doing?
Provider Rostelecom
If there is a step-by-step setup instructions?
Inet googled 5 days - no point.

In short, won:
1) E3372H modem, stitched in HiLink - chopped off the CD and USB flash drive
2) turned on WiFi
without this bundle did not want to work.
And be sure when setting up a network card to tune to 192.168.1. * (* * - I wrote 30)
