There are two ways to improve GPS performance at least a little:
software (file swapping) and hardware (screen installation).

According to some data, patches work ONLY on firmware 4.2. At 4.4. put at your own risk.

If your hands are not sharpened by a soldering iron, and you do not know how the transistor differs from a resistor, then use one of the following software methods:

1. Method from superduse
Easy replacement of GPS program files

Replacing libraries and some system files responsible for GPS operation

I have a GPS on G4S just a head taller than the G4 and G4C. I checked it back in China in the official Jiayu store :). In my city, it fixes faster than MI3. There is no glonass, of course, but without it everything works — there is no inertia and the speed shows true.

Maybe just need to configure?
At first I also had darkness on the G5, then I switched on the A-GPS correctly, set it up on the Russian server. Now with 3G, satellites search takes seconds.

Thanks for the info, but disagree with MTK. From personal experience of using in your car:
MTK6577 Lenovo A789 - GPS is excellent, it catches the signal in the car in seconds and clearly holds
MTK6577 JIAYU G2 - GPS is disgusting, is sometimes found after 15-20 minutes and often shows that I am going somewhere in the field away from the road

I did everything as in the video - a cold start after a reboot for more than 2 minutes (conducted several experiments). The only thing that was achieved was that without turning on GPS and WIFI with AGPS cached information, the location was determined in 10 seconds. Then, apparently, the cache was cleaned and everything became slow back. Once again, we are talking about a cold start without AGPS.

Technology next
1. Turn on root (Settings->Security->SuperUser->on)
2. We allow everything and everyone to determine our location (Settings->My location->Enable all checkboxes (Access to geodata, By GPS satellites, By network coordinates)
3. Install and runFasterGPS. We choose Continent - Europe, the country - the Russian Federation. Now we have the correct NTP server. By the way, if you haven’t done so far - go to Settings->Date and time ->Network date and time ->Synchronize the time over the network (if a SIM card is installed) or via GPS - if there is no SIM card.
4. Turn off the GPS if it is on (why?). Install and runMT GPS EPO Fix. Click Download EPO files. If the button is green, then the file has downloaded (?). This is the type we have updated TOT MOST EPO (alternative to A-GPS?). The developer recommends rebooting the phone after this operation.
5. Install and runMobileuncle MTK Tools. We go Engeneer Mode (p.3) ->Engeneer Mode MTK (p.2) ->horizontally scroll to the Location tab. Then you can do by Feng Shui: go to the Location Based Service ->EPO ->EPO Download, but it doesn't work a damn, there is no progress indicator and it is not clear whether the EPO was downloaded or not. Therefore, we pre-perebzdeli and complied with paragraph 4. Now go to the Location ->YGPS ->Information and here in any sequence press all buttons except Disable Hotstill (the order is different in different sources, one thing in common - press the AGPS Restart button last). At this moment, with an active connection to the Internet, we go to a clean field and go to the Satellites tab and wait for the FIX caption to quickly retract something there. Type it all. Turning off the Internet, GPS, overloading the phone, turning on the GPS and taking a cold start takes at the same time "from 10 to 30 seconds is determined 10-15 satellites." Bullshit Crap works just as bad as before.

I pulled Navitel from my current g4 to g4s. Without any additional action, Navitel in the cold start announced "established connection with satellites" in 5 minutes. specifically disabled the pre-search for cellular networks (and Simka is not stuck), i.e. pure gps.
