ASUS Eee PC 701 (900) is an ultra-portable notebook. It was developed by ASUSTeK together with Intel on the basis of Intel's Classmate PC project, but unlike it, it is designed for the consumer market. This computer has a traditional laptop design in the form of a folding book, with a touchpad and a full QWERTY-keyboard. All this is combined with portability, low price, relatively high speed, intuitive and easy operation.
The original notebook label is “Eee PC 701”, it indicates the screen size in inches (i.e., about 7 inches). The laptop has several official options: Eee PC 8G, 4G, 4G Surf and 2G Surf.

"Does it make sense to put Windows there"

Of course have! In the furnace of Linux - "Format c:" immediately after the purchase - there is nothing to look at. There is one misery. And Windows is happiness. Windows is an office. Windows is a human browser. Windows is Quake III. Winda is the best axis (My established reinforced concrete IMHO)

PS I’ve read more than once that with a USB cutter you can boot on a human =>You can safely put 2000.

Three times AsusTek cheers for the new indispensable system administrator tool disguised as a training toy. : wink_kind:: victory:

are you burning ..: lol:
all human browsers are on Linux (opera, firefox, etc.) ..
the office is available in 2 versions (openoffice and koffice)
quake3 is also there, and it’s native there (for opengl): victory:

Eeee ... by a human browser, I actually mean IE because the menagerie and the theater are Satan’s crafts and it’s impossible for a normal healthy person to use them. Well, moving away from leisure: if you tell me the normal version of the Lotus Administration Kit for
Linux ... Not to mention such trivial obligations as Acrobat (not reader), MS Visio and 1C accounting ... Non-alternative gears of any office.

gee.
For Acrobata, there is an analogue for sure.
Visio, 1C - I agree.
And OpenOffice IMHO is much more convenient than Microsoft’s 2003 deficiencies, not to mention 2007.

Eeee ... under the human browser, I, in fact, mean IE because the menagerie and the theater are the crafts of Satan and it’s impossible to use a normal healthy person in principle.

I didn’t find such a thing .. but most IBM products support all systems

Vizio has 2 analogues - Dia and Kivio
The acrobat is also there of course ...
1C is not present .. et it is clear .. current why on such 1C laptop?

I explain ... I work as a junior IT specialist in the company, because of age this does not go for the civil service.

Yeah, only then Val and Sing start yelling that, they say, my Office XP or, what good 97, some kind of nonsense shows.

under the table

I have been sitting in seventh IE since February. And okay. There used to be both Opera and Mozilla. No speed difference. At all.
You know, in general, I like to describe bacchanalia with players, browsers, antiviruses and rocking chairs with a funny metaphor. Its essence is as follows:

Imagine that you have a car, very expensive and beautiful, comfortable. Everything is in its place. And there are midnight side mirrors. But, one fine day, these mirrors cease to suit you, and you, in order not to fool yourself with their replacement, screw another pair side by side. And now, getting into the car, you can always choose whether you will look in standard mirrors or in beautiful additional ones (Let it be without an electric drive, and without heating)

IMHO, in the oven such decisions.

Let's not turn the topic into a discussion of the clear advantages of Windows over OC Unix.

We don’t convert .. just the laptop comes with Linux and therefore we need to discuss it here .. and with windows they are unlikely to buy it ... why pay for the license? :)

Rep: (4)
it is correctly noticed. ;)

"Each has his own special" :)

Anyone who is more or less knowledgeable in computers will prefer to install his own rolled-up and tested distributor axis. (And not to watch this clowning with screaming wasps and buggy software from the manufacturer)

The ideal screw laptop contains MS-DOS. And not empty, and the price falls nipadetski.

What about synchronization of the address book and the todo list in the penguin?
My Nokia and HTC synchronize with Outluk easily and naturally.

I stare at this device myself. But the compatibility issue of the entire zoo ...

I took this very toy. I put 2 GB of memory and a 8 GB flash drive. What to say? Of course flies. what's on Linux embedded, what is on Windows XP. In Xandros Linux (installed initially) pleased with a sufficient number of pre-installed software. All the essentials. Everything works very quickly and ....... my skylink (Anydata 300) USB modem was detected immediately and stood up as a native. So now there is a mobile lightweight device with a normal keyboard and a tolerant screen in combination with fast Internet. I am satisfied. For Windows XP, I recommend installing Windows XP Minimal. The image takes up 210 MB. Or Windows FLP (but with it I had small problems with the skylink software).

stressjour , and where can I buy it? o_0

Rep: (1)
marksman_d9k , about the dos agree. The user has a choice - if you want whist, you want xp, you want tench - it makes no difference.

Rep: (3)
stressjour, where are you bought! I want myself too! In what shop he took, how much the delivery got up, how much he waited! My forecast is that in the next 2-3 years this device will be one of the most popular.

Rep: (2)
I took myself the International version (Without Chinese) in mid-November. White.
Where, how much, how much did not ask - brought.

Linux is beautiful and self-sufficient, if not for one BUT - the lack of navigation. put WinXP without any FLP, cutting to about 700M. Increased the memory to gig, put Apacer 4G in the slot. Swap removed. Works fine.

A long time ago did not go to the forum. Anyway. So. I took through the website www.expansys.com Credit cards from Russia are accepted. DHL shipping. Comes fast. It cost me 249 pounds. Total with all deliveries and customs cost about 16,000 rubles. It could have been cheaper by abandoning DHL customs clearance services. They charge quite expensive. But I was too lazy to go to customs. What else. I use it quite intensively. After much experience, I abandoned embedded Linux and installed the usual XP and Office 2003. It works very fast. The office opens instantly. Yes, the memory is reduced to 1 GB. Enough and so. Swap of course disabled. He moved the pace to the card. I can’t say anything bad about Linux. It also rustles normally, but strangely enough, windows works faster.
