izCheboksar,firmware from the "big brother" will not work. Mi Router does not know how to repeater mode, I think that it does not exist in the mini. The Internet will be heard if the provider’s cord (or from the LAN of another router) is plugged into the WAN, if you plug in the cord from another router into the LAN Mi WiFi, nothing good will come of it. And also a note from myself: so far the routers from the Chinese do not work well with many Russian providers distributing the Internet via PPPoE or L2TP. Usually our providers do not use encryption and traffic compression, and any authentication method other than chap is discarded to the heap. At least Mi WiFi, when configuring PPPoE, tries to require compression from the server, which makes it impossible to connect.

I can suggest to start to take the lace from the LAN of another router connected to the Internet, plug it into Xiaomi's WAN and walk around the web via Chrome using the translation function (translate into English, it will not be clear in Russian). Thus, it will be possible at least superficially to get acquainted with the functionality of the device and to understand which way to dig the settings. The screw in theory should be mounted by the router automatically and become available as a normal resource in the Windows network environment. Or, you can try typing
