On the "live" I have not tried, but it should work.

After a few seconds, the message "Suitable USB interface (bootloader / phonet) not found, waiting ..." will appear, as soon as the message appears - connect the switched-off phone to the USB cable.
Worked with a system installed on a flash drive! ... Tell me what to do? ... Flasher installed, threw kernels in / home ...
