No, wrong. Photo 400x400 (700x700) should be simply attached to a contact in the phone book, it is not necessary to add a contact to your favorites. But the synchronization of contacts with a Google account must be enabled. If your contacts are stored only on the phone without synchronization, then the photos will not be displayed on the clock when you call.

There was the same problem I had to put a separateapkin the hours themselves through ABD and everything worked and even become updated. But sometimes it comes out of the account itself and you need to log in again, and all the rules work.
