The five-inch quad-core gaming console on Android with two full-fledged analog joysticks (clickable) and 4 cipher like the analogs of the Xbox 360 gamepad.
It features a fairly decent build quality, convenient ergonomics, high-quality firmware (there is a working Android 4.4.2 and root) and an excellent price / performance ratio - the GPD G5A can be purchased for as little as $ 100 (and even cheaper, see below "Links to stores") .
Of the minuses, it may be noted that the screen is not the best and the inconvenience of transportation - the joysticks and back straps cling to other objects, it is not easy to pick up the cover.
Later, it is planned to release an improved version with an IPS-screen and 2 GB of RAM.

Known marriage and problems

Marriage:
Sometimes the device out of the box does not turn on. This is a factory defect and is refundable under the warranty of the store where you purchased the console.

Console problems:
The console screen is characterized by low brightness, small viewing angles (vertical) and insufficient saturation of colors, shades of gray-blue prevail in the image.
A cross in some players may cause complaints about the difficulty of making movements in certain areas. This can be fixed manually by disassembling the console and correcting the design of the cross. (Deen0x solution for a similar GPD G7 console.)

After installing the LegacyROM, you can optionally flash the core overclocked to 1.6 GHz. To do this, copy the kernel files in the firmware archive (quickflasher folder) to the mnt / sdcard / quickflasher directory on the device’s built-in storage device, launch the Tincore Quickflasher application on the console and follow the instructions. In case you want to return to the standard kernel, its file is also attached.

Firmware manual:

1. Download the archive and unpack it somewhere, open the resulting folder.
   
2. If you already have Rockchip drivers installed, then go further, if not, launch the installation using the DriverInstaller_2014 file.
   
3. Open the BatchTool subdirectory and launch the RKBatchTool programmer. (Drivers and programmer can also be downloaded in the "Drivers" section below.)
   
4. To the left of the "FW Patch" line in the programmer window, click on the button with ellipsis, in the window that opens, look for the directory where the programmer is located, and there you select the firmware file (large file with the .img extension).
   
5. After disconnecting the power to a fully charged G5A, connect it with a USB cable to a PC (it is recommended to connect it to a USB port on the front panel of the PC).
   
6. Pressing the Volume + button, press the console power button and wait for the small square [1] in the programmer window to turn green - at this point Windows will also announce that a new device has been detected, while the buttons on the G5A can already be released.
   
7. In the programmer window, click on the "Restore" button.
   
8. Further, the firmware process will proceed automatically, the console will reboot itself (the download may take several minutes), as necessary - wait until you see the Android 4.4.2 desktop.

If you are unable to flash (especially on Windows 8 / Windows 8.1),try this advice.

I bought this box on the secondary with a box for a mower. Everything seems to be in order except for the battery, of course, and the adapter along the way - the touchscreen seems crazy when connecting the charging, tried to connect usb speakers to it, they emit a nasty whistling whistle. Well, okay - more to the point! If there are still owners of this miracle, tell me what a round power connector on the diameter?
