Does Xposed with its modules on the autonomy of the device, accelerates battery consumption?

✔ Usually not. The battery, of course, they consume, but in quantities that can be ignored. However, the individual incompatibility of Xposed / modules with a specific firmware is not insured (see p. 1c below), and in such cases anything is possible - increased battery life, device heating, and spontaneous reboots, and any other problems - someone as "lucky."

1b.

And how do they relate to RAM?

✔ Usually consume at a minimum compared to conventional applications (this does not apply to modules that are independent applications withoptional Xposed module functions, such as 3C Toolbox, etc.). However, a different alignment is also possible - in the case of an individual incompatibility of a module with a specific firmware.

1c.

And the speed of work affect? Slowing down the work / loading of the system / are any glitches and conflicts possible?

✔ Yes. Xposed with modules, to put it simply, requires additional computation from the system (and at a deeper level than conventional programs) and increases system instability, so it’s likely that the speed of work and “juggling” will decrease, especially if many modules are installed. And even if there are not many of them, the individual incompatibility of the framework / modules with a specific firmware is not a rare phenomenon, and it can manifest itself in different ways. Predicting it is impossible: sometimes even one module is enough to start a problem, and sometimes a couple of dozen works without problems - then how lucky it all depends on the device and its software. In addition, Xposed with some modules can create problems for other applications, interfere with their correct operation, and sometimes even just launching (both the applications and the system itself), can cause spontaneous spontaneous device reloads. Of course, “may” does not mean “necessarily will”, but still keep in mind that this is possible and is observed not too rarely.

Why is Xposed not in Google Play?

✔ Becauseits developer is against it, and Google is against utilities that change OS and other applications at such a deep level, so Xposed in GP would not last long anyway.

The structure of the official application Xposed Installer 2.x.x-3.0 alpha4

Framework- information about the framework (installed or not, which one is installed); the actual installation of the framework (for Android<5), reboot the device.
- Framework Informationrepresents a line in green or red font. Green - frame is set and active; red - not installed or inactive.
- Framework: "Install / Update", "Remove" buttons - install / update / uninstall framework for Android<5 (see paragraphs 5 and 12 of the FAQ). The Android 5+ framework is usually installed and removed from the recovery, so in Android 5+ these buttons will be inactive.
- Installation mode(for Android<5): display of the selected installation mode - classic (normal) or from recovery mode (installation from recovery, resorted to it if the normal mode did not work (see paragraph 7 below FAQ)).
- Reboot: fast, full - reboot the device after installing Xposed or the module. It is recommended to always do a complete (with a quick variety of possible problems).
Modules- a list of installed modules Xposed. Activated stand out daws. To activate an inactive module, you need to select it with a daw and restart the device. The long modular plug-in opens the options "download / update" (download the new version of the module), "support" (open the module topic on XDA), "about the application" (open the system page "application information") and "delete" (delete the module ).
Loading- access to the repository (storage) of modules, download and install modules from the repository. Search by keyword (magnifying glass icon), changing the sorting order of modules and reloading (updating the list of modules) are available. A short tap modulo will open the pages "description", "versions" and "settings" (settings for displaying the module versions - stable, beta versions or experimental); pages scroll swipe right-left. On the version page, you can select and load the required version of the module (the "download" button under the version number); after downloading the installation will be available.
Settings- some important settings:
- Installation - Installation Mode. The choice of the installation mode is Xposed - classic (normal) or from recovery mode (installation from recovery, they resort to it if the normal mode did not work (see paragraph 7 below of the FAQ)).
- Download - Allow Download- permission to check for updates of Xposed Installer and modules for it.
- Download - Displayed Versions- this option determines which module versions will be visible in the repository.
- Application - Theme- Theme Xposed Installer.
- Experimental Functions - Do Not Modify Resources- option to minimize problems with the system and applications that arise after installing Xposed. When turned on, all modules that change resources will stop working.
Support- Discussed topics Xposed, XDA, FAQ in English, the ability to send a donate to the developer Xposed.
Magazine- Xposed internal logs. They must be provided with a bug report. Saved / sent as follows: press "menu" ->"Save to SD card" or "Send log". There you can clear the log of logs.
About the program- information about the developers of Xposed Installer, version of Xposed Installer, link to the source code.

The structure of the modified versions of Xposed Installer may be different.

Isn't it dangerous to install such a program that gets access to all functions of the system?

✔ - Partly dangerous. What to do, great opportunities are always associated with babout greater risk. On the other hand, other ways of modifying system and software resources are also open to malicious code. Developer comment Xposed . So decide for yourself what is more important to you - Xposed and its capabilities or one hundred percent security (if the latter, you should get rid of the root as welland make a foil cap). You can discuss the security problems of Android and its software in the profile topic Security in Android. Privacy and anonymity on the Internet . Here it will be considered a flood.

2. Installation requirements.

- The presence of root-rights is mandatory * for the installation and full operation of Xposed, since Xposed and its modules = global intervention in the system (see paragraph 1 above).
* On Android 5+when installing xposed from recoveryYou can install it without root, but then you will not be able to use some modules that request root-rights privately. So for the full use of Xposed, the root is still very desirable.
- S-OFF, if you have an HTC device (otherwise all changes in the core will disappear after a reboot) - not always necessary, but often.
- Worker availabilitycustomrecovery (CWM, TWRP) and previously made Nandroid backup system -necessarilyto roll back and restore the system in case of problems (for the Xposed installation itself, the recovery is not necessary, see below in p. 5 / 5a / 6d). The probability that you will need a rollback is close to 99%! If you are new to Android, you don’t know how to work with recovery or you don’t have it for some reason, Xposed is not for you, believe the popular experience. Dealing with Xposed, it is important not to install it at any cost, but, first of all, to protect the device from extremely probable data loss.
Important:
- Xposed does not support the ART runtime environment in Android 4.4.x KitKat and automatically changes it to Dalvik upon installation. Xposed for Android 5+ also does not work on KitKat and will never work (see p. 2n below). For those who are in the tank: the change of the execution environment is relevant ONLY for Android 4.4. On Android 5+, the environment cannot change physically, since there is only one there (advanced ART).
- Xposed is bad friends with LEWA and MIUI firmware. If the official version of Xposed refused to work, putmodified from SolarWarezor (if you have firmware on Android 4.0.3-4.3) a special analog of Xposed -WSM Tools . You can try to use WSM on other Chinese firmware, not only on MIUI and LEWA - sometimes it works better than Xposed. On some builds of MIUI / LEWA, the framework does not work in any way (neither Xposed nor WSM); In this case, the solution is only one: change the firmware.
- Dell Venue 8 7840 (and possibly other Dell Venue devices) on the stock Android 5.1 is not supported and never will be, because the Dell developers in this version of Android have created a non-standard "intermediate" version of the ART environment in which Xposed cannot work.
- Xposed operation (and the device itself after installing Xposed) is not guaranteed on devices with MTK6592 processorand stock firmware(Only with stock! Custom devices with this does not apply!), Since these firmware are based on Aliyun OS, the Android fork, incompatible with Xposed.Xposed developer comment on Xposed incompatibility with Aliyun OS.
- Preliminary nandroid backup is the main rule and a guarantee of peace for every Xposed user and its modules. If you are too lazy to back up and you prefer the principle of "maybe blow over", then blame only yourself.

And for Xposed, is there a difference, odex or deodex target firmware? Do I need to deodex the firmware to install Xposed?

✔ Usually not. Previously, deodexing was required by Samsung TouchWiz on Android 5.0.x, but now it is not necessary - it appearedXposed by dkcldark, working with Samsung coded drain (Xposed from arter97, it’s possible that the coded stock will soon support too). In some cases, deodexing may be required by Huawei stock firmware (EMUI).

2b.

In the topic header there are several versions of Xposed - 2.6.1, 2.7 beta, 3.1.4 and 89 - what is the difference between them? / Which of the assemblies for Android 5+ is considered stable?

✔ 2.6.1 - the latest stable release for Android 4.0.3-4.4.4; 2.7 - test beta for Android 4.0.3-4.4.4; 3.1.4 - Xposed shell for Android 5+ (Xposed for Android 5+ consists of 2 parts - the Xposed Installer application shell and a zip archive with the framework itself), and 89 is the latest version of the Android 5+ framework.
The first stable release for Android 5+ was the v72 framework. What kind of assembly will work more stableon your firmware , it is impossible to guess - sometimes the most recent assemblies turn out to be more stable.

What is the difference between the official Xposed Installer v3.1.x and Material Design Xposed Installer from dvdandroid? What is better to choose?

✔ In mod from dvdandroidmore functionality, it allows you to install the framework on Android 4.1-4.4 and choose between different builds of the framework for Android 5+. Of Xposed Installer v3.1.x is based on it, but does not yet have all its functionality.

2c.

How to understand which version of Xposed to install?

✔ Option 1: just betMaterial Design Xposed Installer by dvdandroid- it tells you which framework to choose, and allows you to immediately download and install it. Various Xposed assemblies for Android 5+ will be available for selection and download: official Xposed, non-system Xposed, Xposed for Samsung stock firmware, Xposed for MIUI. In addition, this Installer allows you to install the old framework for Android 4.1-4.4.
Official Xposed Installer v3.1.xit also determines the version of Android and the architecture of the device and prompts you to install the necessary framework for Android 5+. Through it, you can download and install the same frameworks as through Material Design Xposed Installer from dvdandroid, except for old ones for Android 4 and test ones for Android 7.
Please note that through both the Installer, you can download and install not all frameworks! If the Installer does not offer you a framework for your device, simply find and install it yourself (see option 2 below and the following FAQs). For example, Xposed for Samsung stock on Android 5.0 and Nubia for exactly need to be downloaded manually.
✔ Option 2: recognize the type of processor and the bit width of the firmware of your device (in its forum thread or use Google, this is easy; or you can install any system analyzer likeAIDA64) and choose yourself according to this information and the installed version of Android - that is, read the points below and / or see this simplified Xposed selection scheme. (The scheme is read from top to bottom, in the direction of the arrows, and not vice versa!) Attention: Xposed for ZTE (Nubia UI) stock firmware and non-system Xposed for firmwarewith non-system rootnot included in this scheme in order not to overload it; They are rendered by separate links in the "download" section!

Attached Image

If the selected version of Xposed does not work, you can try an older build or a version from another author (if it is available for your device).

How can I figure out which zip archive to download?

✔ The names of the zip archive with the framework consist of 3 parts: the version of the framework, the version of Android, the architecture of the device. For example: xposed-v87-sdk21-arm.zip is the 87th version for Android 5 32-bit.
Abbreviations used:
arm - 32-bit processor, arm64 - 64-bit, x86 - x86 (this is Intel, AMD).
sdk21 - Android 5.0, sdk22 - Android 5.1, sdk23 - Android 6.0, sdk24 - Android 7.0, sdk25 - Android 7.1, sdk26 - Android 8.0, sdk27 - Android 8.1.

2g.

So which Xposed build to install on a device with a regular 32-bit processor (ARMv7) and 32-bit firmware?

✔ The one that corresponds to its OS version. Extreme versions of Xposed won't work - try older ones (this is especially true for MTK processors and Android 4.0.3-4.2). Versions for Lollipop are placed only on Lollipop, and so on. If the official version of Xposed does not work, try alternative -by wanam, by romracerorfrom SolarWarez. For Samsung devices on the stock Android 5/6, separate assemblies are created -for 5.0.xandfor 5.1 / 6.0; ordinary will cause a bootlap. For Huawei and ZTE devices, there are also separate assemblies on the drain. The same story with MIUI - for it there are separate modified versions of Xposed. For older android goolder versions of xposed installer(4.0.2-4.4.4) andport on Android 2.3.3.
If you have Android 6+, non-system root and you want to make Xposed non-system, read p.2zh below.

And for 64-bit processors (ARMv8) and firmware Xposed is?

✔ There is, but first check the / system section with 64-bit libraries in the / system section - some formally 64-bit processors work in 32-bit mode, and a 32-bit firmware may well be on a device with a 64-bit processor. If there is no / lib64 folder in the system partition (or there are no libraries (files with the .so extension), or only one - libSecMMCodec.so), this is your case, and then you need to install Xposed for 32-bit devices. If the / lib64 folder with a set of libraries in / system is there, you need to install Xposed for a 64-bit platform - look for assemblies marked "arm64" / "64-bit" / "ARMv8" (if suddenly you have Android<5, see below paragraph 3a). Assemblies for ARMv8 are installed only on devices with 64-bit processor / 64-bit firmware; don't even try to install them if you have regular 32-bit ones. If the official Xposed build doesn't work for you, tryalternative from wanamorby romracer. For Samsung 64-bit devices on stock Android 5.1 / 6.0 there isseparate assembly, others will cause a bootlap. The same story with Huawei EMUI, ZTE NubiaUI and MIUI.
If you have Android 6+, non-system root and you want to make Xposed non-system, read p.2zh below.

And with x86 processors (Intel, AMD processors) Xposed is compatible?

✔ Yes, starting from version 2.4.1. If you have Android 5+, look for the framework builds (zip archives) marked "x86". For devices with Intel Atom x5 Z8300 useMaud. Xposed.
If you have Android 6+, non-system root and you want to make Xposed non-system, read p.2zh below.

2g.

A non-system root (systemless root) is installed on my firmware. I can and Xposed put in the system section to quietly receive OTA firmware updates?

✔ Yes. In this case, youhere- other Xposed assemblies are installed as usual system ones.
Please note that the official Xposed Installer sees a non-system root only from version 3.1.

2z.

I have installed Magisk and, accordingly, a non-systemic root of MagiskSU. What is Xposed working with it?

Unofficial non-system Xposed for Android 5.0-8.1 with Magisk installed (module for Magisk)

2i. Which Xposed is better to choose - system or non-system?

✔ This question is difficult to answer unequivocally, since both versions have their pros and cons.
Advantages of non-system Xposed: the ability to receive OTA-updates of stock firmware without restoring the stock system partition (this is not true for all devices); the ability to use applications / services that refuse to work in the presence of a system Xposed (not true for all applications; so, for example, Android Pay is not friendly even with a non-system framework).
Cons: as a rule, less stability and greater consumption of resources (especially Xposed - the Magisk module).
Pros of the system Xposed: this is a good old classic, long optimized for most devices.
Disadvantages: the inability to update the firmware over the air without uninstalling Xposed, problems with some banking / gaming applications that are not friendly with Xposed (often solved by the appropriate modules, see item 7 of this FAQ).
So see for yourself what is more priority for you, and, of course, be guided by the actual performance of these versions on your device (systemic and non-systemic Xposed may work differently on the same firmware).

Is there anywhere a list of devices on which Xposed was successfully tested? / Does Xposed work on my device / firmware? / Prompt the optimal version of Xposed for my<model name>/<firmware name>?

✔ There is no such list and never will be.That's why.The performance of Xposed for the most part does not depend on the device, but onits firmware , and existing firmware - thousands; In addition, Xposed can conflict not only with the firmware, but also with installed third-party software and system mods. Therefore, to make a list of devices on which Xposed one hundred percent will work is simply unrealistic. Make a nandroid backup and try, the only way to predict the behavior of Xposed in each specific case is impossible, Nostradamus is not here. You can consult first in the subject of his device , does Xposed work on it and which assembly is better to choose (before asking, just use the search on the topic: these questions are usually discussed many times, no need to multiply repetitions). If the latest versions of Xposed don't work, try older ones - for example, 2.3.1 performed well on Chinese stock firmware on Android 4.1-4.3.

With my device, nothing bad will happen after installing Xposed?

✔ 99%, which is not, if you carefully read the FAQ, descriptions of its assemblies and modules, see what you install and how, and you must first make a nonandroid backup. Otherwise, it will surely happen and you will have to reflash.

What are the analogues of Xposed besides WSM Tools? What alternatives are available if Xposed / WSM didn't help me?

✔ Xposed has only one equivalent - WSM Tools, but WSM only works on Android 4.0.3-4.4 (on 4.4 - also only in the Dalvik environment) and has long been abandoned.
You can try the sandboxVirtualXposed(this is not an analogue of Xposed, but simply a virtual environment), but it has a big minus:
D.A.R.K. Angel @ 07/07/18 23:47*
While there are practically no modules that support virtual xposed.
In addition, it initially does not support modules that change firmware resources.

If Xposed / WSM did not help you or did not suit you, the only adequate alternative is to search for ordinary programs / tweaks / scripts that can do the same modules you need (and be prepared that this is not always successful), or edit the necessary system files. manually (or search for ready-made mods in the theme of your firmware). Links to the necessary topics are collected inInstructions for the functionality of the modulesВ®Xposedunder the spoiler "What to do if Xposed-modules did not help you."

That is, for Android 4.4.x KitKat with ART enabled in general, there are no and there will be no options?

✔ Precisely: in general, and never will be. ART at KitKat has its own characteristics: this is a “draft”, test version of the new environment. Attempt to adapt for it Xposed was not crowned with success, and no one will be more engaged in it - KitKat is already in the distant past. In Android 5+, fully translated to ART, the environment has been changed and improved, so Xposed was adapted for it. And for the same reason, Xposed for Android 5+ also does not work on Android 4.4 with its ART.

In the topic header, there are Xposed shell mods in the Material Design style - how do they work compared to the “native” shell? Can they be put safely?

✔ The mod from vladykodi works in the same way as the “native” shell, the interface color scheme is simply changed there. In the mod from dvdandroid, the functionality has already been seriously changed (many new options have been added), however this mod is constantly updated and even the official Xposed Installer 3.1.x is built on its basis, so you can install this mod without any danger.
