I decided to create this topic for a separate discussion of the Note 3 Live Demo Unit (SM-N900X) devices.
This is a demo sample for communication shops, it does not have a cellular module and GPS.
No firmware will make him a full phone!
But you can easily turn it into a brick playing with the firmware.

I strongly recommend that before any actions make a copy of all that is possible: EFS and nandroid backup.

For curiosity, you can try to pull the firmware out of the live sample.
For this you need the original pit file.

ROOT Installation Instructions for N900X and N9005

We interrupt the mode Odim mode (It is necessary to turn off the phone and hold "VOLUME -" and "ON", then press "VOLUME +" to confirm.
Next, run ODIN 3.0.7 and select the "openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.8-hltetmo.img.tar" file in the PDA button
Click START and wait for completion.

Next you need to upload the file "CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip" to the internal memory or to the USB flash drive.
Then turn off the phone and hold down the "Loud +" and "ON" it will start the recovery that we sewed in the previous step.

The Officials will most likely refuse, as this is a demo sample and, in principle, it should not be from an ordinary user. As the technician suggested, it can reboot due to the fact that the firmware contains data about GSM, which is not in this tablet. But this is only an assumption.
