The point is not even in power consumption, but in the general logic of the firmware.
P.A.C. - This is a compilation of Cyanogen, AOKP and Paranoid.
Accordingly, it is positioned by the developer - as the best of the three worlds: the maximum number of settings, flexibility, etc.
And everything would be fine if this killer feature was cool.

In practicewe have the following:
- a wild mass of settings (I understood with straight arms long enough what was happening)
- some things can be turned on / off in various ways from the settings menu
- some of the settings conflict with each other (example: I turned on the PIE control, before that having exposed the tablet interface via the Paranoid branch.
The bottom line: the lack of a notification line in principle, since the bottom panel disappeared along with the top. Killed half an hour to turn off PIE)
- some of the settings just buggy (constantly hanging weather in the notification line, not completely turned off even through the settings)

As a result - it's better to stock with root.

All of the above - IMHO.
