Well, why is it so categorical?
It is quite possible to remake quite cheaply:
1. Cut off from the existing (you can dead :)) network memory cord with USB-connector. The memory itself can be thrown away or postponed for the future.
2. Order from the ChineseDC-DC Step Down Adjustable Converterfor 55-60 rubles with delivery.
3. When you get the converter (in a few weeks), set up an outlet for it with a 5V cord and solder it to the cord cut off from the network memory with a USB connector,OBSERVING POLARITY
