The first steps for flashing Do not be lazy to read.

1. First of all, you need to determine what kind of device you have. .
There are 3 types of HTC One Dual Sim series devices:
- HTC One 802w (Apparatus for China), HTC One Dual Sim (Apparatus for CIS countries). For iron, these two devices are identical. Therefore, all modifications and custom firmwares are suitable both for Chinese devices of this series, and for PCT devices.
- HTC One 802d (Apparatus for China).
- HTC One 802t (Apparatus for China).
I will not describe the difference between the three types of devices, this information is sufficient in the discussion topic and indeed in the Internet.
So the surest way to determine the type of apparatus - on the packaging. On the box on the side and bottom there are stickers where the stamp of the device is written. If the device got to you without a box, or there is no marking, or you are not sure which type of device got to you, then reboot the phone into bootloader mode (see spoiler - (INSTRUCTIONS / RECOVERY - all Dual Sim models) =>(Instructions) =>(How to open the bootloader and fastboot) and look at the top lines on the phone screen:
- If there is an inscription M7CDug - then you have the device HTC One 802 w (HTC One Dual Sim);
- If there is an inscription M7CDwg - then you have the device HTC One 802 d ;
- If there is an inscription M7CDTU - then you have the device HTC One 802 t .
2. Determination of the firmware installed on the device (official or custom).
If you purchased the device officially in the “white” store or from the NTS dealer, then you most likely have the official firmware (although this is not a fact, but in most cases it is the official firmware). In this case, you will receive all official updates, fixes, etc.
If you purchased a phone in a gray or online store, then with a 50x50 probability you may have an unofficial (so-called custom) firmware. Determining which firmware is installed is sometimes very difficult. Gray phone sellers are doing everything possible to hide the traces of installing third-party firmware. The official (also such a pun) firmware may also be unofficial, but for a device from another region, for example, a backup of the official Russian firmware is supplied to the Chinese device, etc.
If the seller is not very advanced and is not very messy, you can determine whether third-party firmware was installed using the following features:
- In the phone settings there is no item "Software Update";
- In the settings - About the phone - Software version - The software number is the name of the Romodel (many romodels like to write there) for example on the Maximus HD firmware;
- When the phone is rebooted in bootloader mode, *** RELOSCED *** is written on the screen (this means that your phone was unlocked to install third-party firmware, and then blocked again).
- Etc. etc.
In principle, this information is not so important if you purchased a gray device with no warranty and no obligations, and if you are officially and with a guarantee, be careful.
This item does not claim to be 100% guaranteed to determine what firmware you have, because gray phone sellers use various tricks to hide the fact that the phone has been re-flashed. This post is most likely informative, maybe it will help you.
3. Types of firmware.
There are 4 types of firmware:
3.1. Official firmware from the manufacturer. The so-called RUU file. This firmware can be in two versions as a .exe file and as a .zip file.
The firmware in the form of RUU.exe files is sewn without any shamanism. The phone connects to the computer (do not forget to turn on debugging via the USB), you don’t need to translate the device into any mode. Run ekzeshnik and follow the instructions on the screen of the computer.
Firmware in the form of .zip files have the following form - PN07IMG_M7C_DUG_JB_50_S1_HTCCN_CHS_CU_2.17.1402.2_ Radio_1237.20.28.0614_release_324897_signed_2_4.zip (where DUG is the device type. See item 1 of this post).
Such firmware is sewn right on the device.
The firmware process is as follows:
- download the firmware and rename it toPN07IMG.zip ;
- MANDATORY Put stock recovery and block the bootloader;
- throw filePN07IMG.zip in the root of the card (or internal memory is unimportant) and overload the phone;
- the phone starts to flash, the firmware time may take 15-20 minutes;
- after the first launchMANDATORY delete the file PN07IMG.zip (otherwise, after each reboot, your phone will be flashed again).
3.2. Custom firmware in the form of a .zip file from romodels. Such firmware can be called as you like (as wanted romodel). This type of firmware is sewn through custom recovery CWM or TWRP.
3.3. Nandroid backup, which in turn is divided into two types - Backup for CWM Recovery and TWRP Recovery (depending on which custom recovery you have installed). Such firmwares are sewn, or rather they are not even sewn, and are restored on the phone through the custom recovery menu. These firmware are made this way - any person (not necessarily a homemade designer) installs a firmware for himself, makes changes, modifications, decorations, etc. and then it makes a nandroid backup using recovery and puts the resulting backup onto the forum. Anyone who wants to download it, uploads it to the memory card (or internal memory) of the phone, and through the custom recovery menu restores it to his phone.
3.4. OTA firmware. Rather, it is not even the firmware but the update of the official firmware from the manufacturer. If such an update is available then a message about the availability of new software will pop up on your official firmware when connecting to the Internet. Then follow the instructions you can upgrade your firmware.
There are also OTA updates for custom firmware from romodels. The principle of receiving and updating such an update is similar to obtaining an official update.
3.5. ATTENTION. As a rule, new OTA updates put a higher hboot (bootloader) that does not allow to lower the firmware (well, many people don’t like it) without having s-off. Therefore, if you want to lower the firmware version (install an earlier one), you need to get an s-off on the device.
4. What you need to do to flash unofficial firmware.
4.1. Unlock bootloader (required).
4.2. Carry out the procedures-off (optional but desirable).
4.3. Install custom recoveryCWM or TWRP (required)
4.4. Download the custom firmware you like (for your device).
4.5. Make a nandroid backup of your existing firmware and copy it to your computer (required).

5. The process of installing custom firmware.
- Copy the firmware to any place on the internal memory or on the SD card.
- Reboot the device into the mode of custom recovery (CWM or TWRP).
- Make wipes (Optional in some cases. Romodels are usually written about the need for wipes in the descriptions of their firmware). The wipe process is described in the first post of this topic.
- Mount the internal memory and the memory card (in the CWM and TWRP find the mount item there everything is intuitive).
- In CWM recovery, select the install zip item, if the firmware is in the internal memory, then choose the path where you have the firmware, and if the firmware is on the memory card, then select istall external card and then the path where the firmware is on the memory card).
- In TWRP recovery, select the install item and continue to choose the path where the firmware is located.
- Wait until the installation is completed and reboot the phone (the first launch can take a very long time on some firmware).

Official update (RUU, OTA update)

PTA Application Manual

There are 2 ways to install / update the official firmware:
1. RUU firmware. This is a complete firmware device from scratch. RUU firmware, in turn, can be of two types: with the extension ****. Exe and ****. Zip.
The firmware with the extension ****. Exe is sewn as follows: the phone is connected to the computer (the computer must see the machine) and the file ****. Exe is launched on the computer. Also, the device can be sewn through fastboot in the same way. The order of the firmware. ****. Zip is described below.
2. OTA update. This is a firmware update. The device must have a previous firmware version installed. The firmware should be preferably clean (official). If you deleted any system files, then the update is most likely not installed. The OTA update is placed exclusively on the firmware that is specified in the name of the OTA update, for example - OTA_M7C_DUG_JB_50_S1_HTC_Europe_2.41.401.1-2.19.401.1_release_3398289.zip - means that you should have the firmware with numbering 2.19.401.1 and the firmware installed. .

Manual installation of RUU firmware of the form ****. Zip:
For example, download firmware PN07IMG_M7C_DUG_JB_50_S1_HTC_Europe_2.19.401.1_Radio_1237.21.28.0627_release_326125.zip - 989.19 MB (Look carefully at the file extension, it is best to enable the display of file extensions in Explorer so that you do not have firmware PN07IMG.zip.zip).
1. Copy PN07IMG.zip to the root of the external SD card and reboot into BOOTLOADER.
2. The phone will detect the file and you will be asked to flash it, if you want to flash it, press the volume button to select yes.
3. The phone will flash approximately 10-15 minutes, carefully watch what is written on the screen. After the reboot, you will have the official RUU firmware installed.

Manual OTA update:
1. Download for example OTA_M7C_DUG_JB_50_S1_HTC_Europe_2.41.401.1-2.19.401.1_release_3398289.zip - 131.61 MB and rename it to update.zip.
2. It is strongly recommended to make a full backup of the system beforehand (if something goes wrong), and also to charge the phone battery not lower than 70%.
3. Make sure you are working in a completely unmodified operating system. Additional files, such as Superuser.apk or others that provide the operating system with superuser rights, must be removed, and the changed system files must be restored to their original form, otherwise the update will not be installed (due to MD5 check).
4. Make sure that the OTA update that you are going to install is intended for your device and is installed on the corresponding previous version of the operating system (read above).
5. Copy the update.zip package to the device (internal or external memory).
6. Turn off the device (make sure that the Fastboot mode is disabled in the settings).
7. Hold simultaneously the volume down key and the power key until the bootloader starts.
8. The phone will try to find an image, but will not find it. And it will provide you with a menu that will contain the elements "FastBoot", "Recovery" and a few more
9. Select Recovery. Navigate through the menu using the volume buttons, and make a selection using the power button. Do not press several buttons at the same time.
10. Your device will boot into something with a red or green triangle with an exclamation point or synchronization sign.
11. Gently press the volume up (+) key, and while holding it down, press the power key. Then release both.
12. The phone will show the menu, one item of which is “apply from phone storage”. Select this item. Navigate the menu by using the volume up / down buttons. Apply item - power button.
13. Select the file "update.zip" that you copied to the root of the memory card.
14. The system will check the image. If the check gives an error, then the file was downloaded with an error, download it again and copy it to the memory card again. If the file is OK, the phone will reboot twice and open the home screen.

Installation recovery

How to make wipe

As a rule, when installing the firmware, it is necessary to do all 3 wipes, but sometimes romodels write that it is enough to clear the cache and dalwick cache, in this case all user data and installed programs will remain on the phone even after installing the new firmware.
To implement wipes in CWM, you must:
- switch to CWM mode.
- in CWM to clear user data select -Wipe Data / Factory Reset .
- to clear the cache, select -Wipe Cache Partition .
- to clean the dalwick cache select -Advanced =>Wipe Dalvik Cache .
To implement wipes in TWRP, you must:

Firmware firmware

Firmware.zip is part of every OTA update from HTC. It contains important parts of the firmware: radio, bootloader, recovery, kernel, etc.

Why is it important to flash firmware.zip and why do I need to flash it?
It is recommended to have the latest FW stitched for your device for the best performance of the modem part and system stability. Sometimes it is necessary to have the latest version of the bootloader, otherwise your device may not work correctly with new system updates.

Does the firmware.zip contain the firmware of the radio module?
Yes, the radio firmware is included in the FW, and on S-ON devices the only method to update the radio is to flash the latest firmware.zip

Why is it so important to flash FW before installing custom firmware?
Because firmware.zip contains boot.img (ramdisk and kernel) which will replace the custom boot.img from any firmware that you have. Therefore, it is necessary to flash firmware.zip first, otherwise the boot.img of the custom firmware will be overwritten by the stock from FW.

1. First of all, you need to determine what kind of device you have. .
There are 3 types of HTC One Dual Sim series devices:
- HTC One 802w (Apparatus for China), HTC One Dual Sim (Apparatus for CIS countries). For iron, these two devices are identical. Therefore, all modifications and custom firmwares are suitable both for Chinese devices of this series, and for PCT devices.
- HTC One 802d (Apparatus for China).
- HTC One 802t (Apparatus for China).
I will not describe the difference between the three types of devices, this information is sufficient in the discussion topic and indeed in the Internet.
So the surest way to determine the type of apparatus - on the packaging. On the box on the side and bottom there are stickers where the stamp of the device is written. 2. Determination of the firmware installed on the device (official or custom).
If you purchased the device officially in the “white” store or from the NTS dealer, then you most likely have the official firmware (although this is not a fact, but in most cases it is the official firmware). In this case, you will receive all official updates, fixes, etc.
If you purchased a phone in a gray or online store, then with a 50x50 probability you may have an unofficial (so-called custom) firmware. Determining which firmware is installed is sometimes very difficult. Gray phone sellers are doing everything possible to hide the traces of installing third-party firmware. The official (also such a pun) firmware may also be unofficial, but for a device from another region, for example, a backup of the official Russian firmware is supplied to the Chinese device, etc.
If the seller is not very advanced and is not very messy, you can determine whether third-party firmware was installed using the following features:
- In the phone settings there is no item "Software Update";
- In the settings - About the phone - Software version - The software number is the name of the Romodel (many romodels like to write there) for example on the Maximus HD firmware;

3. Types of firmware.
There are 4 types of firmware:
3.1. Official firmware from the manufacturer. The so-called RUU file. This firmware can be in two versions as a .exe file and as a .zip file.
The firmware in the form of RUU.exe files is sewn without any shamanism. The phone connects to the computer (do not forget to turn on debugging via the USB), you don’t need to translate the device into any mode. Run ekzeshnik and follow the instructions on the screen of the computer.
Firmware in the form of .zip files have the following form - PN07IMG_M7C_DUG_JB_50_S1_HTCCN_CHS_CU_2.17.1402.2_ Radio_1237.20.28.0614_release_324897_signed_2_4.zip (where DUG is the device type. See item 1 of this post).
Such firmware is sewn right on the device.
The firmware process is as follows:
- download the firmware and rename it toPN07IMG.zip ;
- MANDATORY Put stock recovery and block the bootloader;
- throw filePN07IMG.zip in the root of the card (or internal memory is unimportant) and overload the phone;
- the phone starts to flash, the firmware time may take 15-20 minutes;
- after the first launchMANDATORY delete the file PN07IMG.zip (otherwise, after each reboot, your phone will be flashed again).
3.2. Custom firmware in the form of a .zip file from romodels. Such firmware can be called as you like (as wanted romodel). This type of firmware is sewn through custom recovery CWM or TWRP.
3.3. Nandroid backup, which in turn is divided into two types - Backup for CWM Recovery and TWRP Recovery (depending on which custom recovery you have installed). Such firmwares are sewn, or rather they are not even sewn, and are restored on the phone through the custom recovery menu. These firmware are made this way - any person (not necessarily a homemade designer) installs a firmware for himself, makes changes, modifications, decorations, etc. and then it makes a nandroid backup using recovery and puts the resulting backup onto the forum. Anyone who wants to download it, uploads it to the memory card (or internal memory) of the phone, and through the custom recovery menu restores it to his phone.
3.4. OTA firmware. Rather, it is not even the firmware but the update of the official firmware from the manufacturer. If such an update is available then a message about the availability of new software will pop up on your official firmware when connecting to the Internet. Then follow the instructions you can upgrade your firmware.
There are also OTA updates for custom firmware from romodels. The principle of receiving and updating such an update is similar to obtaining an official update.
3.5. ATTENTION. As a rule, new OTA updates put a higher hboot (bootloader) that does not allow to lower the firmware (well, many people don’t like it) without having s-off. Therefore, if you want to lower the firmware version (install an earlier one), you need to get an s-off on the device.
4. What you need to do to flash unofficial firmware.
4.1. Unlock bootloader (required).
4.2. Carry out the procedures-off (optional but desirable).
4.3. Install custom recoveryCWM or TWRP (required)
4.4. Download the custom firmware you like (for your device).
4.5. Make a nandroid backup of your existing firmware and copy it to your computer (required).

5. The process of installing custom firmware.
- Copy the firmware to any place on the internal memory or on the SD card.
- Reboot the device into the mode of custom recovery (CWM or TWRP).

How to flash a kernel

In the CIS, no one wants to do anything for free, of course they will try to make you pay for repairs, telling fables that custom firmware deprives the warranty, but has never heard that they would give a written refusal. Even if HTC support replied that the software part does not depend on the warranty for the hardware part of the device. That is, a marriage with the iron of the phone, this is a marriage, which means warranty repair. The software part also has its own guarantee, which is lost when unlocked via htcdev.

PS: by the way, all of the above, said in the agreement when unlocking htcdev. It clearly states that the Software warranty is lost and all the damage associated with the unlock = not a warranty case. 1) The most important thing is that the G-sensor does not work, the screen rotation and applications that depend on this sensor are appropriate. I tried to calibrate from the settings - it did not help. Perhaps there is no driver in the firmware for this hardware or it does not work correctly.
2) In the SMS instead of the "send" button it is written "nest" 2 times. The rest of the localization of questions there.
3) It is impossible to replace the icons in the bottom panel, just add to the existing ones (by making a folder in the bottom menu). Perhaps this is not a bug, just a flaw in Sense.
