How to install custom firmware via CWM
ATTENTION: EVERYTHING IS AT YOUR FEAR AND RISK! Initial state: the phone is on and charged, more than 70%; Motorola drivers installed; bootloader unlocked ; installed custom RECOVERY.
  • Make sure that the conditions of the "initial state"
  • Download, and move the firmware to the SD card of the phone
  • Turn off the phone
  • Turn on the phone, and go to CWM Recovery: while holding down the volume swing, turn on the power; then lower volume swing, go to the Recovery item, select it by pressing the upper volume swing.
  • Clear phone, wipe data / factory reset, wipe cache
  • Install the firmware. Install zip, select in the file system * .zip firmware and confirm the installation. For custom builds based on AOSP / CM / AOKP, if you need applications and synchronization from Google, we also install

    Gapps download

    .
  • Wait until the installation is complete. Run Reboot (the first run will take longer than usual)
  • Is done
Step-by-step description of the Full Wipe procedure with explanations on the items
FULL WIPE [includes: wipe data / factory reset + wipe cache partition + format / data + format cache + format system + wipe dalvik-cache (+ wipe battery stats)] is done from the CWM Recovery menu - and is highly recommended before installing a new firmware so that it does not conflict with tails left over from the previous one.
Full Wipe leads to the complete removal of all programs, settings and data, the operating system itself is also removed - so BE CAREFUL - always do a pre-android backup (from the menu of the same CWM Recovery) in case something goes wrong with the new firmware So.
So, to completely remove the firmware with all settings and data, applications (only the information on the SD memory card will remain untouched, except for the .android_secure folder - where the applications transferred to the card are stored) - make FULL WIPE - in the mod.recovery menu choose the following items and agree to the operation by selecting the only item Yes among several No (Vol + / Vol- - up, down, Power - confirm):
1. wipe data / factory reset [in the main menu of CWM Recovery] - full reset of settings and data, clearing the / data and / cash partitions in the device’s internal memory, clearing the .android_secure folder - which stores the applications that you transferred using the built-in a2sd from internal memory on an SD card is an analogue of Hard Reset on WinMo (except for the fact that after HR on WinMo you will bring the system to the state “just from the counter” -
first, everything in the device’s memory will be erased, and then the original system firmware will be rolled back - thus restoring the entire system info in its original form, if it has been changed or deleted; Factory Reset on Android, however, only clears user data / settings, etc., BUT does NOT restore anything, including system data and programs, if you deleted something — in this case, only flashing will help — such cleaning (together with wipe dalvik-cash) can help in case of glitches after flashing (for example, when no wipes were made before installing the firmware, and now the new system does not understand the settings of the previous one)

2. wipe cache partition [in the main menu of CWM Recovery] - clearing the partition / cash - temporary buffer used by the system to speed up access to the data stored in it, which can be most likely to be requested by the RAM

3. format / data [in the CWM Recovery submenu>Mounts and storage] - formatting a partition with user data and settings of all user and system programs

4. format / cache [in the CWM Recovery submenu>Mounts and storage] - cache partition formatting

5. format / system [in the CWM Recovery submenu>Mounts and storage] - formatting the system partition - in fact, the complete removal of traces of the operating system - ATTENTION, you will not be able to start the device after this item until a new firmware is installed! Only the engineering menu and recovery mode will remain available.

6. wipe dalvik-cache [in the submenu CWM Recovery->Advanced] - clearing the cache of .dex files - this is a special format of the files run by the virtual machine - a separate clearing of this cache can help, when you need to save all user data, settings and applications - the cache will be recreated the next time the machine is started, the download may be longer than usual

7. wipe battery stats - can be done if you want to recalibrate the battery - the batterystats.bin file is deleted, - it is recommended to do it at 100% charge for recalibration, however, recently Google engineer officially stated that this method is a myth and can NOT work, because this file only stores battery statistics, which we see in the Settings menu->About phone>The battery is not used for anything else; moreover, all the data inside the file is recreated again after each reboot.

Another item added to CWM Recovery 5.2.0.8:
8. format / boot - formatting the system kernel
Install CWM (bootloader must be unlocked)

But where is the installation manual, see 10.1? give me please

I have not had time to scrape.
But in general, the general course of action is:
1. Download the necessary firmware (for example, AOKP STOCK, CM 9 KEXEC, Eclipse v3, etc.), place it on an external FLASH card (SDCARD-EXT);
2. Turn off the phone;
3. Turn on the phone, immediately after the Motorola logo, the SafeStrap dialog appears, in which you need to press [menu] SafeStrap;
4. Go to ROM-Slot-1, then specify the size of the Data partition (Data partition size) = 2gb, then Create ROM Slot, wait until the mount is completed;
5. Next, go to the SafeStrap home page, using the Back button;
6. At the top, in the center, should be the inscription ROM Slot: rom-slotN, this means that the rom-slotN system is currently mounted;
7. Next, go to the Wipe point, do the wipes: Cache, Davik Cache, Factory Reset, System ->(Swipe to Wipe);
8. Go to the Install menu, select the firmware downloaded in 4 point in the file manager, install (Swipe to Confirm Flash);
9. Next, go to the Wipe point, do the wipes: Cache, Davik Cache, Factory Reset ->(Swipe to Wipe);
10. Go to Reboot, select System ... reboot;

schuleru,
Great!

Did you install this firmware on which slot? ROM0?

Damn) would be an experience, I would have thought why))
Just flooded to the top, I had the same problem with the phone, barely pumped it out, and soldered this mod.

`SunDayBoy ™,
It works, it just did not boot yet, the printscreen immediately did.

Something is not up to Bench now, as a Google account is added there)))) PPC, I can not find it, only mail can be added.
Where is this Google Play in general, but do not say that it is not there)

Found it on devfak

For many, when installing the firmware, the phone goes into fastboot mode.
Code
Fastboot mode started
udc_start ()
Do not panic, get rid of it as follows.

Training:
- Download the utility package
- Run tools.cmd (extract it somewhere in a separate folder), we get the command line.
- We take from the archive with utilities folder Custom Recovery Menu. From it, take the file recovery-RA-pecan-2.2.1-GNM-drap.img and copy it to the folder where tools.cmd is located and rename it to recovery.img.
Our preparation is complete, get down to business!

- Turn on the phone (if not included) you automatically hit the fastboot!
- Connect the usb cable to the computer, install the drivers (in the utility package). On the phone should appear the words "processing comand"
- Open the command line tools.cmd
- Enter the command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot
- Press Volume down + End button + Receive button, Custom Recovery may appear at the last moment so keep it up to the winning!
- Select the item Reboot system now - reboot the device.

EVERYTHING! You will start the standard download. You now have a custom recovery. When you installed it, you got this error and you can upgrade to the instructions further.

But there it is not written for which phone, not really for anyone, and the password is required for downloading ...

Understood in fine tuning of qing - tin, how many there are all sorts of ivy, zadolbalsya tune.

The first glitch - does not start VIDEO chat Google talk - the phone hangs with a white screen.

schuleru,
Be careful with the GSM part ... if the android.phone.apk application ever gets rid of it, you will need to make a wipe cache and davlik. It is necessary to immediately configure the connection .. then wipes ... then there should be no errors.

There was a problem, the phone was re-flashed with the stock version of the deodex (crack) through the recovery, after which the phone was loaded for about 30 minutes, I rebooted it, repeated the procedure, the phone was still in bed for 20 minutes and I disconnected it. I downloaded the firmware from this theme "(Unlocked BL wWIDOWHD 4.1.2 | STABLE | RUS | update: 03/18/2013)", after which I was able to start the phone, I think I need to flash the stock version back, I tried to do it through "motopocalypse" in "ROM "The firmware, launched the installation, raised a lot of" error "and reported that something was cleaning there, after that I can only go to" Safestrap "and it shows me that the memory of the phone is free (space) - 0 bytes. Accordingly, I can not put not backup, not firmware, what to do, tell me?!
