Jaxbotreleased a homebrew application for automatically downloading cab files and installing the latest Windows Phone 7.8 update.

Currently, the application is installing an RTM version of Windows Phone 7.8 on smartphones with the latest update 8860 and all the available language packs. In the future, SevenEighter will install the latest official OS versions for all smartphones. Technically - SevenEighter forces sending a request and getting the latest version of Windows Phone.

All the user needs to do is connect a smartphone, close Zune, launch it and click the "Install WP7.8" button, the update will take about 15 minutes.

The SevenEighter application can be downloaded here. Perhaps the application works even on unbroken smartphones - check.

By the way, Jaxbot tested build 8860 and found out that the bug in live tiles is not fixed - its servers are still spammed with requests from tiles.

I confirm that the unbroken Mozart was updated from 7.5 (8773) to 7.8 (8860) without any problems. I used the seveneighter version from the forum because in the branches of custom firmware read about the lack of space in IMGFS.
After all, the essence of the application is to initiate a reboot of the phone in the bootloader and stuff the update cab-files into it.

The only drawback of the software is that it is currently doing, she writes with krakozyabrami, so you have to guess about the process only by periodic reloads of the phone and a running progress bar. In general, the promised 15 minutes did not meet, the program initiated eight reloads. The main thing is not to panic, put your hands away and wait until the process is complete; The program on the BB will write Congratulations, You're done! After that, the phone can be used.
UPD: after the first synchronization, Zina stated that there was an update to 8862 and - lo and behold! - updated to it without any problems!
