Сustom Recovery
Custom recovery(custom recovery) are designed to replace the standard, built-in recovery, significantly expanding its capabilities.
TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) | Touch control | Updated by third-party developers. | Recommended
TWRP- it is much more powerful, compared to the factory, utility of the system recovery, which allows you to make full backup copies of the entire system of the device, install software, firmware, kernels and many other things on it that usually does not allow factory recovery. TWRP, is installed in a special system section of the internal memory of the tablet or phone, in place of factory recovery.
TWRP Recovery can help you out in some seemingly hopeless situations. Even if your tablet or phone stopped loading, in many cases using TWRP you can restore the system from a backup, with all its settings and applications.
Here is a sample list of what you can do with TWRP Recovery:
  • Install custom firmware and unofficial kernels
  • Install factory system updates, additions and fixes
  • Connect to computer via USB, in removable storage mode
  • Create a full backup of the current firmware and its individual parts (system, settings, applications)
  • Restore device from previously created backup
  • Do a factory reset (Wipe - data / factory reset), clear the cache (wipe cache), clear the dalwick cache (wipe Dalvik-cache), clear the battery statistics (wipe battery stats)
  • Create partitions on a memory card and format them
  • Execute terminal commands
  • Work with files on your device
Latest official version on the official website (3.0.2.0)
The latest unofficial version from the developer's site (2.8.7.0)- in this version patches can be installed only from a memory card.
Cyanogen Recovery | Touch control | Officially updated
Cyanogen Recovery- The recovery, which is developed by the team CyanogenMod Team. So far, it has fewer features than CWM and TWRP, but it is constantly being developed and quite stable.
You can download the latest build in the same place as the firmwareCyanogenmodon our device.
CWM (ClockworkMod recovery) | Touch control is absent | Not updated
CWM- Modified unofficial recovery, which is available for most devices running Android. It has much more features than native recovery. On some devices it is installed instead of native recovery, on other devices it is installed in parallel. Allows:
  • Install unofficial firmware
  • Install add-ons and fixes
  • Connect to PC via USB in removable storage mode
  • Connect to PC via USB in ADB mode
  • Create a backup of both the entire firmware and its individual parts (system, settings, installed programs)
  • Recover data from previously created backup
  • Reset the data to factory settings (Wipe - data / factory reset), clear the cache partition (wipe cache), clear the dalwick cache (wipe Dalvik-cache), clear the battery statistics (wipe battery stats)
  • Format and create partitions on a memory card
If you cannot turn on the phone and download android, you can always restore a previously created backup with all applications and settings via CWM.

An interesting device, especially for lovers of soldering.
Here is everything for youhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929143.
The SIM chip is carefully soldered, instead of it the SIM holder is soldered with a conventional SIM card and voila - the device sees the GSM / 3G network. : rolleyes:

The SIM chip is carefully soldered, instead of it the SIM holder is soldered with a conventional SIM card and voila - the device sees the GSM / 3G network

There is such a device on hand. The keyboard is cool. The SIM chip has been successfully removed, our SIM card is soldered tight :). And indeed, the device sees the GSM / 3G network from the MTS.

The bootloader is unlocked through the official motorola website. Installed custom recoveryTWRP 2.4.2.1, with whose help the root is easily received. Sprint "shnyaga" cut.
And what is important "lovers" of Motorola devices with hardware keyboardSkrilax_CZandnadlabak(known for its Open Recovery, CM7, CM9 and CM10 for Motorola Milestone) with might and main engaged in (and rather far advanced) portingCM10(Jelly Bean, Android 4.1.2) on Photon Q. There is a Russian language in CM10. Russian Keyboard from Gamewaririor (AndoidTeam.ru) normally works with hard. clave

The battery is not removable (in the usual sense) - you need to "unscrew a lot of bolts." GPS works fine, GLONASS satellites also see

Oh thanks for the reply.
But can you still flash the Cyanogenmod on the device or not?

Is it worth buying it, or is it better to look after the thread?

I already wrote, SM with might and main do. You can flash it elementary after the bootloader is unlocked. To buy or not - you decide. Do you, as I see, have already registered this device in the profile, have you bought it already? :)

Weak, but tolerable. And if you find a more capacious battery ... I think, to order something, on ibei for 3k rubles hang such. But they write that there are some problems with sending MMS in 3G networks. And in the specification for the phone they write the following:
Networks: WCDMA 1900/850/2100; CDMA 1900/800; GSM 850/1900/1800/900 LTE 1900, HSDPA 21.1 Mbps (Category 14) HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
It seems like it should work without any shamanism in conventional GSM networks.

It will, but only if you activate it with the operator (Sprint). And then you will pay for very small sprint tariffs ...

Regarding the extended battery: the battery from the resolution of max HD is suitable for us, but still it is necessary to glue nfc (it is peeled off from the battery)
If the battery comes to me - I will make instructions

Subject does not want to automatically cling settings (APN)

About the Chinese device, which ordered some time ago, wrote that it does not cling to the Internet settings. When I inserted the SIM card for the first time, the opsos automatically sent the settings, the Internet started working immediately. I'm fed up with the on-screen keyboard, my strength is gone. Somehow, the Americans have everything in a wild way, to bind the phone to the opsox to death.

Hello! I'm already waiting for the package with the Photon Q, the soldering iron is scratched! } -)
Now I use Droid 4, his keyboard is super (exactly the same as on the photon), but the pale little screen is already tired, and the photon has a better percentage.

Alex469,
Tell me, did you solder the slot yourself or give it to someone? Ordinary amateur soldering iron can perform an operation or not worth it?)

At the expense of replacing the batterybad news with xda:
We’re looking to fit the size of the RAZR (XT910 / XT912) EB20 battery, it's sized:
96 x 56.5 x 2.5 mm and the MAXX battery (3300 mAh) is just thicker. Unfortunately, Photon Q battery is sized cca. 71 x 46.5 x 3.0 mm (measured it didn’t find it on the net). That's 1 cm overlap and 1.5 cm overlap on lenght
