Quick bootloader detection (bootloader):
Any firmware based on2.2or2.3 --->oldbootloader (old bootloader or oldBl)
Any firmware based on4.0.4 and higher --->newbootloader (new bootloader or newBl)

F.A.Q.
What is a bootloader?
Bootloader ( bootloader bootloader ) - a program that allows you to download the main firmware. On our firmware branch, there are two types " bootloaders ", " old (old bootloader) "(used on official firmware 2.2 and 2.3) and" new (new bootloader) "(used on official firmware 4.0.4).
What is the recovery for?
Recovery ( recovery ) - system software that allows you to conveniently flash new firmware, patches, create backup copies of the system and carry out other non-standard actions. Factory recovery has reduced functionality. Entering the mode is performed by pressing the volume down (-) button simultaneously with pressing the ON button.
ClockworkMod Recovery - more powerful, in comparison with the factory, utility for system recovery. For our device, two versions of CWM are used, v.6.0.1.5 to install the firmware on the old bootloader and v.6.0.2.5 to install the firmware on the new bootloader, installed only over v.6.0.1.5.
TWRP Recovery : Modified recovery, created by the Teamwin development team. Unlike the usual CWM, it has a convenient touch interface, the ability to batch install zip files, the ability to select Wipe items, and the screen lock works. It is this recovery that some developers recommend using to install their firmware (for example, tonyp )
What is the core?
Core ( kernel ): Based on the Linux operating system. This is the central part of the operating system that provides interaction between the hardware and software components of the system: how to manage memory and processes, work with drivers.

On all firmware based on the old bootloader, there are no problems with communication!
Important!
When flashing, always consider the possibility of failure; therefore, I strongly recommend doing the BeckAp of the working version!
When installing any custom firmware (old boot or new one), I recommend installing on a clean stock firmware for normal operation of the phone (2.3.4 for an old boot and 4.0.4 for a new one)
If you do not understand something in the process of firmware, in order not to get a brick, ask a question in the subject before you do something.
Very often, users ask for help when the S / W Upgrade message appears after the firmware. What is it? This means that you have installed a firmware based on the old bootloader on the new bootloader. And vice versa. To prevent this from happening, be sure to check boot compatibility before downloading the firmware!

A big request to all newly-flashed, report with which recover, with which firmware you are switching to, this will significantly reduce the time to solve your problem and the number of unnecessary messages in the forum. And remember that you do all manipulations with the phone at your own peril and risk, all responsibility for the ruined phone lies only on you !!!

Oops, overlooked. That is, to update the recovery, and then wipe and roll please?

Exactly. Sew the new recovery as usual firmware from under the old one, then reboot the recovery and sew with the wipes.

Who faced such a problem: that on the CM10 of 26/12/12, that on the CM10.1 25/12/12 the keyboard constantly crashes, put the AOSP, the same thing. ? A new boot. I tried to put everything clean with a full wipe - nothing changes. What others have ideas, except for installing third-party Claudia.

The issue is resolved: the full format of SDcart through recovery + complete removal of all folders on the external card associated with Android. After that, I put CM10 on 28/12/2012 and everything went away. Before that, I did not fight, but I could not solve the issue with the keyboard. Did a full wipe and nothing.

if you are currently on the phone 30A for CIS root and CWM-recovery, how to switch to CyanogenMod 10 (OS 4.1)?
Is it possible, by downloading cm-10-20121228-UNOFFICIAL-p990 (Penguins Galore), to flash it through CWM?

Rep: (194)
tabyk It depends on what kind of CWM you have. If this is modified from pengus77 from the theme with the firmware, then it is possible, and if the other is, then you first need to flash the modified one.

Cm10.1 was not updated? On the back without a bottle, you can not figure it out from the phone. And in the header on the links, nothing changes when new firmware comes out.

Cm10.1 not updated?
While there seems to be no updates.
Also sat on it. All the campaign works fine.
The only caveat is the bleached WiFi icon in the upper tray.

Cm10.1 not updated?

there has not been updated. Yes, and move it as it is too early yet. For three days use once caught the bug quiet (can not hear me in an outgoing call), but when I already retype everything was OK - maybe a glitch MTS network. Another observation to a standard dialer - dialer, when looking at the number of usual working gud only the first time, then enter an endless search. To overcome this bug using a third-party dialer DialerOne. Keyboard constantly falls off, but it was written on XDA.
YES was pleasantly surprised by the setting of the desktop with a long tap and the ability to select a widget, application, etc., and not like the CM10 or wallpaper selection.
In general, the CM10.1 has a future and I will switch to it as soon as the glitches diminish: the reason is that there are no big differences between ICS 4.0 and CM10, and if you compare it with CM10.1, that's full ...: rolleyes:

Rep: (4)
Put the same SIII. But there are some points.
1. The gallery does not see the image in jpg format, it sees only png, avi does not read.
2. The built-in file manager does not see a flash drive, there is an external_sd folder, but for some reason it is empty.
How to solve it all?

Rep: (3)
CM10 installed a Wi-Fi fix - I was surprised, but it works, I have been sitting for three hours already, and periodically I do not get on until 7% is consumed.

CM10 installed a Wi-Fi fix - I was surprised, but it works, I have been sitting for three hours already, and periodically I do not get on until 7% is consumed.

What are the 2 options set?

I just flashed conservative myself

Yesterday I installed the CM10 Unoff, today the phone in the lost state woke up several times. The last half hour does not seem to wake up. What can be the reason? Stitched according to the instructions
