FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions:

How to bypass registration when you first start the tablet?
When you first start on the screen where the girl is shown, we hold down the volume button "+" and poke first in the lower left corner of the screen, and then in the lower right corner. A green "Factory" button will appear, go in there, hold down the volume button "+" and poke in the lower right corner. The "Skip OOBE" button will appear, which is responsible for unregistering and entering the initial settings.
Video instruction can be viewed atYouTube.

At the moment there are two versions of the Tablet: 8 GB with 512MB of RAM and 16 GB with 1GB of RAM. How to determine what your Nook Tablet?
On the factory (stock) firmware, press the "n" button and go to "Settings", and then to "Device Info".
If you see "1GB for B & N content" and "4GB for personal content", then you have an 8 gigabyte version.
If you see "12GB for B & N content" and "1GB for personal content" or "5GB for B & N content" and "8GB for personal content", you have a 16 GB version.

What is the "root" for?
Obtaining the superuser's rights (or "root") on the factory firmware is necessary only if you plan to use this firmware in the future - without this it will be impossible to install applications and access the Market (Google Play Store). On all other firmwares, the "root" is already built in.

Do I need a "root" to install the firmware?
Not. You can install any of the firmware using a bootable SD card (see the instruction “Running CWM from an SD card”).

Which firmware is better?
Each of the firmware has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Stock or factory firmware 1.4.0-1.4.3:

+ the highest stability of the firmware

- the function "copy / paste" is supported only at the level of individual applications
- stripped down and modified Android 2.3
- problems with displaying some menus of third-party applications
- lack of Russian keyboard and Russian language

SyanogenMod 7 or just CM7:

+ acceptable firmware stability
+ almost all the features of Android 2.3 Gingerbread
+ the ability to run from the SD card without removing the stock firmware

- lack of updates (work on the firmware is essentially stopped)
- the presence of unnecessary applications for the camera and phone
- flaws in development (by default, inability to access the internal memory when connected to a computer, etc.)
- partial microphone operation
- outdated version of Anroid 2.3

3.x-based firmware (CM10 and others):

+ firmware based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
+ the ability to run from the SD card without removing the stock firmware
+ multitouch screen for 10 touches
+ fully working microphone

- the absence of Flash in the default browser (as on all versions of the latest Android)
- poor game compatibility
- minor stability issues

Is it possible to install the firmware for the 16-gigabyte version of the Tablet on the 8-gigabyte version and vice versa?
Not! Firmware is not compatible! Be sure to install only the firmware corresponding to your version of the Tablet. You can get a "brick" - an inoperable tablet, for the restoration of which will require certain knowledge and skills.
Create a backup of the partition "ROM" (/ dev / block / mmcblk0p5) - this will facilitate the restoration. How to save / restore sections of internal memory can be read onXDA(English), and background information on sections and not only can be found inby thispost (English).

How to install the firmware correctly?
To install the firmware you need CWM (or TWRP) under the Nook Tablet.Do not attempt to install CWM for other devices on a Tablet! The instructions below describe the process of installing and using CWM under the Tablet. Additional information can be found inClockworkMod recovery (CWM) FAQ.

Can I connect an external hard drive, webcam, keyboard or mouse to the tablet?
No, because USB host mode is currently not working.

Does Blue Tooth work on a Tablet (bluetooth or bluetooth)?
Not. Unlike the Nook Color, there is no Bluetooth equipment in the tablet.

Does it work on a Skype tablet?
In the CM7 microphone in Skype does not work. In firmware based on 3.x kernel (CM10 and others), the microphone is fully functional.

What to do if the Tablet does not load / start? Maybe I got a "brick"?
First you need to charge the tablet. If for any reason the firmware has stopped loading, the Tabletis always can be downloaded using a bootable SD card with CWM and access the device via adb.

I want to return from CM10 to CM7 or stock firmware, but when I install CM7, the screen does not respond to the scan. What to do?
You have enabled multitouch (updated "firmware") for 10 touches, and CM7 and stock firmware support only 2. Now you need to return to CM10 (install or run from the SD card) and through the "Application to enable multitouch for 10 screen sensor touches "return screen sensor to 2 touches.

General instructions for the 8/16 GB version of the Tablet:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing drivers and running adb under Windows 7 SP1
What is adb?

Installation:
  1. We connect the Tablet in the "USB Debugging" mode on any firmware (or just in CWM) to the computer. Windows will try to find a driver for the tablet, but will swear that the device is not working properly (Device is not working properly).
  2. Download byreferenceWith XDA archive "Drivers + adb.zip". Inside the archive is the folder "ntroot", unpack it and for further convenience move to the root of the C:
  3. Go to the Device Manager. Among the “Other devices”, there must be a “NOOK Tablet” with a yellow exclamation mark. Click on it with the right button, select "Update driver software ...>Browse my computer for driver software ", set the bird on" Include subfolders ", set the path to" C: \ ntroot \ usbdrivers ", click" Next ", and finally confirm the installation of the drivers.

Run:
First, run the command line (cmd.exe) with administrator rights. To do this, go to the "Start" and enter in the search box "cmd". On the found file, right-click and select the menu item "Run as administrator" in the menu. In the command window that appears, go to the folder "C: \ ntroot" by typing the following command:

cd c: \ ntroot

Now we connect the Tablet in the "USB Debugging" mode on any firmware (or just in CWM) to the computer and enter:

adb devices

If after "List of devices attached" a line appears with numbers in letters like "000В000А000000000 recovery" or "347383А564А648629 device", then adb recognized the tablet and started successfully. If there is an empty line after "List of devices attached", then the device is not recognized. You can familiarize yourself with the main adb commands byreferencewith XDA (in English). To enter the Linux command line on the tablet itself, enter:

adb shell

  • MicroSD memory card of 4 gigabytes or more. After successful completion of the recovery process, the SD card can be formatted in the Tablet itself (Device Info>Sd card>Unmount>Erase), or format the card in FAT32 under Windows usingutilities"HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool").
  • Windows XP / Vista / 7
  • A program for recording an image on a memory card (Win32diskimager).

Step-by-step instruction:

  5. Start Win32diskimager, in the "Image File" field (icon with a blue folder) specify the image "AdamOutlerUbuntuTotalReFlash.img", in the "Device" field, select the letter corresponding to the card reader with our SD card and click Write.Attention! All data on the memory card will be lost!

Note:If Win32diskimager gives an error when writing a file, put the * .img file in the root of the "C" drive and try to burn the image again. Also in some cases it helps to launch the program with administrator rights.

  6. After successfully writing the image to the memory card, remove it from the computer.
  7. Turn off the Tablet and install our SD card in it.
  8. We connect the Tablet to the computer using a USB cable - the Tablet will turn on itself, the screen will blink, various windows and messages will appear.Attention! The whole process is automated and the screen is not recommended to touch!
  9. We wait about 20 minutes (on the SD card of the 4th class) until the screen goes out.
  10. We take out the SD card - the tablet will reboot and continue the recovery process, the inscriptions "Clearing data, Pleast Do Not Turn Off You Device ..." will appear until finally the tablet downloads the stock firmware with the first launch screen.

Loza71,
These are official releases. Under the Tablet (codename "acclaim"), the CM7 did not officially go out.

Actually, who and what can tell about thisIT
And so a month has passed since the release of CM9 alpha 0.04. On the XDA, there is a lull and the core is being doped at 3.0, hence the question, how much time is left to work on CM9 alpha 0.04 before the timebomb works, does anyone know?

In general, I installed a market fromThisforum topics are a negative result, the market does not work, and when the tablet is started and unlocked, it drops.
We are waiting, with CM9 alpha 0.05, suddenly there are bugs corrected.
And yet, I made a flashing with formatting of all partitions, but still a number of CM9 alpha 0.04 components, in particular Exchange services, are falling and do not want to work, are these my bugs or everywhere with this firmware?

A small addition to the release of CM9 alpha 0.0.5 and CM9 alpha 0.0.5.1 for owners of the Nook Tablet 8Gb:
However, for NT8 users, you still need Succulent's NEWBOOT.ZIP right after flashing CM9a. Otherwise, it still bootloops in Cyanoboot.

Newboot.zip is available here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment...mp;d=1341097069

And so gentlemen, I use CM9 alpha 0.05.1 on top of Stock 1.4.2 on the Nook Tablet 8Gb, and you know, I no longer have censorship expressions and calm emotions. (I haven't cleared the cache and Dalvik cache yet)
This is simply an enchanting tale of stability, often infused with the error android.process.acore.
No, I ponmayu what was going on putting the alpha, but, compared with alpha 0.04 and even alpha 0.03, this is just “AD and Israel”.
Periodically, the firmware loses concatenation between parts of the application when transferring them to an SD-card,marketThat recommended on XDA is constantly dying with an error.
But most of all lulz delivers that when you restart, a minute of attention, and at that very reboot, all those applications that were launched are again in memory, taking into account the fact that the SD-card is mounted somewhat with a delay, after checking the integrity of the system, we get what? Correct - notification that the attachment is deleted, i.e. everything is in place, but here it is removed, how? David Blaine bring it back.
I understand, terms, I understand it voluntarily, but why flog a fever and let out horror with which it is impossible to work without permanent stress, besides eating a battery like not in itself?
ZY Bleed very strongly, something like that.

Le0p0ld87,Market for CM7 can be taken inThisThe topic, and so, if there is no desire to penetrate deeply, then you can keep the CM7 on the card and boot from it ...
