What is a rainmeter?

Rainmeter - Decorating program for monitoring computer resources. Rainmeter allows you to display: a graph of the CPU load, the amount of free and occupied computer memory (operational, virtual and disk). In addition, the program allows you to monitor and network information, including IP-address, traffic and even the speed of use of the channel separately for each of the directions. Also of note is the possibility of Rainmeter, such as downloading news feeds and weather forecasts. This software has an informative and pleasant user interface that easily fits into your desktop environment. A distinctive feature of the program and one of the factors of its wide distribution is the style of displaying information, in which most of the elements are designed in such a way that it creates the feeling that each of them is an integral part of your Desktop! Support for third-party skins (from other authors) allows you to decorate the workspace and give it functionality completely at its discretion.
The load on the processor, when using Rainmeter, is minimal. From my own experience: this program is installed on my netbook. Brakes do not notice.

The program can disrupt the system?

No, this will not happen. It works on the principle of Windows Sidebar gadgets. Therefore, the program does not make any changes to your operating system, it is disabled by clicking on the tray icon and pressing the Exit button, it is completely uninstalled without leaving any traces.

Rep: (2114)
How to add a new skin to the program?

New versions of the skins come with the .rmskin extension in one file. You simply run the theme file from any folder and it is installed automatically.
In older versions, the topic is archived. This archive should be unpacked in:
C: \ Users \ "username" \ Documents \ Rainmeter \ Skins (for Windows 7)

Edited Meter.

.Ini Rainmeter file- This is a plain text file. It can be edited in any
text editor, the most common is Notepad, which comes with Windows.
Word processors such as Microsoft Word or WordPad or other VISUAL editors are not recommended.
for editing ini files, this can cause problems by embedding formatting codes, you may not even see them.

Key Parameters Meter

X= horizontal position inside the window. The coordinates can be "copied" from the previous meter, you need to add the letter "r" after the number (for example, X = 5r).
In this case, the value will be considered to the right by 5 pixels. previous value from the left edge. The value with a large "R" is read from the right edge.
Y= vertically. (The values of "r" and "R" are the same as with "x", only vertically.r-from the top edge, R-from the bottom).
H= Height (icons, lines, bars, lines, backgrounds, etc.)
W= Width (icons, lines, bars, lines, backgrounds, etc.)
UpdateDivider= This value changes the update rate of the indicator. The global update value (in the [Rainmeter] section) is multiplied by this number,
to determine the update frequency for meter. For example, if the update is set to 1000 and UpdateDivider-30,
the counter is updated every 30 seconds. The default value is 1.
Solidcolor= Background color. Value specified in RGB (A) format: red, green, blue and optional alpha value (transparency)
SolidColor2= Additional background color to create a gradient. The format is the same SolidColor.

ImageRotate= Rotates the image by a certain number of degrees. Negative numbers - rotate counterclockwise.
Barrientation= Orientation panel. Valid values are horizontal or vertical.
PrimaryColor= Primary color of the histogram.
SecondaryColor= Color for the secondary histogram.
Flip= If 1 is set, the meter will flip mirror-like upside down.
ImageName= Name of the displayed image.
ImageRotate= Rotates the image by a certain number of degrees. Negative numbers rotate counterclockwise.
LineColor= Line color
LineWidth= line width in pixels.
FontColor= Text color
Prefix= The string that is displayed before the value.
Postfix= The string that is displayed after the value.

FontEffectColor= Color StringEffect
Percentual= If set to 1, the value is displayed in percent.
NumOfDecimals= The number of decimal places used in the displayed value.
Text= Text to be displayed in the skin.
Clipstring= String size. Width and height must be specified.
Angle= The angle of the text. The value is given in radians. Note that the size and position of the text is still calculated.
as if horizontal text.

Mouse actions:

How to make a quick launch dock?

To begin, let's do a simple dock for three icons.
Create a folder on the workstation and call it "Doc" (or otherwise), then copy the icons of the future buttons (in .PNG format) in this folder and in the same folder
create a text file. Then open it, and press Ctrl + S (Save as).
Enter the Dock.ini in the "File name", select "All files (*. *)" In the "File type", and click Save.
Attached Image
Now we have everything to create a skin - namely: a file with the .ini extension, icons and a folder where it is all folded.
Just write the code. Open the ini file, at the beginning write the title
[Rainmeter]
Author = Maestro-Sky
AppVersion = 1.1
Update = 1000

AppVersion- here we are writing the earliest version, because Our future skin will fit any version.
Updateset by default.
Variables, Substitute, Measure- skip, because we have nothing to calculate, translate, etc.
Now you need to create a background (Image). By the way, the background finisher automatically determines the boundaries and dimensions of our skin with this background. We call the new block [Image] (brackets are required).
In the next line we indicate the "Meters" function of this block, namely Meter = Image.
Now the background color (think! On black wallpaper, you will search for a black background for a long time! The line will look like this: SolidColor = 250,250,250,100 transparency 100 is set so that you can see icons through (background),
which it can close during editing.
Set the parameters "X" and "Y". Since this background is better to always put 0, if you put for example "X = 500"
the skin cannot be moved to the left edge of the workstation.X = 0, Y = 0.
Parameters "W" "H" (Width and height of the background). Approximately this is 3 icons (for example) with 40 pixels each. + Distance
between them and the edges at 5 pixels. = 140 pixels. Height 1 icon 40 pixels., Top and bottom 5 pixels = 50 each. W = 140, H = 50.
This is what should work:
[Image]
Meter = Image
SolidColor = 250,250,250,100
X = 0
Y = 0
W = 140
H = 50

It's time to torment the icons. The parameters are the same as the background, but instead of the color we write the name of the icon.
We write "Raina" what we want [Ikon], how we want Meter = Image and what we want ImageName (icon name). The name of the icon should be written
absolutely the same (what is in the folder), so it is better to click P.M. on the desired icon, then rename and skip
Name ImageName = Icon name. PNG. It is also necessary to prescribe what we want from the icon when clicking on it with the mouse.
Write the command-LeftMouseDownAction, execute-! Execute
and in brackets the path to the folder, exe, ... .LeftMouseDownAction =! Execute ["D: \ Music \"]. In this case
When you click on the icon, a folder with music on the "D" disc will open. Set the "W" "H" parameters to 40 pixels each (see above).
Now "X" and "Y". Since we put the first icon, the "X" parameter should be = 5 (from the left edge of the background). And the "Y" is also = 5.
Let's see what happened:
[Ikon]
Meter = Image
ImageName = Music.PNG
W = 40
H = 40
X = 5
Y = 5
LeftMouseDownAction =! Execute ["D: \ Music \"]

The second icon. The name Meter (Ikon) should not be repeated in the skin, otherwise the program will select any one Meter, in her opinion
the more important one and the second one just loses it and won't show it. So let's get the Meter [Ikon2]. Change the icon (the name of the icon)
Then everything is like with the first icon, only the "X" parameter and a link to the folder should be different. Read. From the left edge to the 1st
icons 5, the icon itself 40 and the distance between the icons 5 pix. it will turn out X = 50. We change the path to the folder, it turned out:
[Ikon2]
Meter = Image
ImageName = Videos.PNG
W = 40
H = 40
X = 50
Y = 5
LeftMouseDownAction =! Execute ["D: \ Video"]

And the last icon. Rename the name Meter [Ikon3]. Change the name of the Documents icon. PNG. We calculate the coordinate "X",
(2 icons of 40 pixels each and 3 intervals of 5 each). We change the path to the folder in the "execute" line.
[Ikon3]
Meter = Image
ImageName = Documents.PNG
W = 40
H = 40
X = 95
Y = 5
LeftMouseDownAction =! Execute ["C: \ Users \ wasek \ Documents"]

The dock is ready, you can try it in work. Copy the folder in Documents \ Rainmeter \ Skins, update the Rainmeter. We include the skin.
Along the edges of the icons we left 5 pixels. You can drag the skin for these places, when adding icons you need to increase
parameter "x" on the background.
Optionally, you can remove the background (transparency-001, the eye does not see and the mouse feels), make completely non-transparent
or draw a dock (format PNG) in Photoshop and set the picture instead of the background. It will be necessary to only prescribe ImageName = ...
and SolidColor = ... delete. The sizes of icons, background (dock) and the number of icons are limited only by the size of your monitor.
We had quite a nice dock.

How to save the theme with the .rmskin extension and how to install it?

  1. We save our theme in the theme managerRainThemes.
  2. Create a folder for a future topic (location - optional).
  3. This folder should contain the following items:
    • addons folder
    • folder fonts
    • plugins folder
    • folder skins
    • folder themes
    • file rastaller.bmp
    • and Rainstaller.cfg

    If themes use additional fonts, plug-ins, add-ons that are not in the standard set, they should be placed in the appropriate folders.
    To folderSkinscopy all skins fromC: \ Users \ YourName \ My Documents \ Rainmeter \ Skins
    To folderThemesCopy the previously saved topic fromC: \ Users \ YourName \ Appdata \ Roaming \ Rainmeter
    From folderC: \ Users \ YourName \ AppData \ Roaming \ Rainmetercopy the fileRainmeter.inito the root of the folder for our future topic. There must be filesRainstaller.bmpandRainstaller.cfg

  4. Now we need to edit the file.Rainstaller.cfg
    Open it in a text editor and edit:
    [Rainstaller]
    Name = JSMeterII
    Author = Jeffrey Morley
    Version = 2.0

    Skins = 1
    Themes = 1
    Addons = 1
    Plugins = -1
    Fonts = -1

    AdminRights = 0

    MinRainmeterVer = 1.2.0.380

    UpdateINIPath =
    Up dateINI =

    LaunchType = Theme
    LaunchCommand = JSMeterII

    That is, it turns out 1 - skin, 1 - theme, 1 - addon, plugins and fonts are not used (-1)
    Well, the name of the topic, the name of the author, the version of Rainmeter
  5. Now we need to create a ZIP archive (archive everything we did before) and just rename the extension.zipat.rmskin. Now you can install your theme.
