But now I want to talk not about the A200. Acer Iconia A510 is a completely different bird. The memory volumes are the same (16-64 GB), but the design and hardware platform have changed a lot. Inside - the very 4-core Tegra 3, so that the Iconia Tab A510 becomes one of the first tablets with this platform. It is not surprising that almost all the characteristics coincide with the ASUS Transformer Prime tested by us earlier, the platform is unified and there are no big differences to expect.
But there is an extremely pleasant element. Like the Lenovo flagship, the Acer A510 offers a new generation IPS screen with a resolution of 1920x1200 pixels. Subjectively, the picture is the same as that of Lenovo and surpasses all other Android tablets in definition. Icons are smooth, without any pixelation, just like fonts. Excellent, gorgeous on definition screen, I really like this race in the characteristics of Android-tablets.
Capacitive screen, supports up to 10 touches at the same time, is closed, as expected, with Gorilla Glass. The connectors are represented by a standard set, these are micro-USB, 3.5 mm for headphones, a slot for memory cards and a SIM card (in the 3G version), but there is no USB connector here. Blame the thickness of the case, of course. A510 with a very powerful hardware platform, excellent screen has less than 10 mm thickness and weighs a little over 600 grams. This is a kind of psychological barrier, for which tablets that were originally created as ultra-portable devices should not overstep.
Apparently, the thickness is less than 1 centimeter - this is the trend of 2012 in the Android segment, and the top devices of all companies have exactly this thickness. ASUS, Acer, Lenovo - all flagships are thin and relatively light, which brings them even closer to the reference iPad 2. The devices run on Android 4.0, which is quite logical.
Separately, I want to say about the battery. With a decrease in thickness, the capacity of the battery on the contrary increased, which is good news. 9800 mAh, versus 3260 mA * H in its predecessor, the A500 is a huge increase. Of course, part of it will be compensated for by the increased power consumption of the screen, but even so, the flagship Android tablets will be much more robust than the previous generation.
As for prices, then there will have to be fortunate. ASUS Transformer Prime costs about 30 thousand rubles in Russia, so Acer, for full-fledged competition, it would be possible to expose your product a little cheaper, say, for 25 thousand rubles. Of course, this is not the level of Iconia Tab last year (19,990 at the start of sales), but for such a hardware platform and a great screen it is quite justified. The tablet will appear closer to spring (April-May), that is, right after the appearance of the new iPad 3. Let's see how the competition with the market leader will occur
