C: \ Program Files \ Windows Sidebar \ Gadgets
C: \ Program Files \ Windows Sidebar \ Shared Gadgets
C: \ Users \ Username \ AppData \ Local \ Microsoft \ Windows Sidebar \ Gadgets

The native weather gadget stopped working, writes “Could not connect to the service”.

At the end of the filehosts add lines:
207.68.172.246 www.msnweather.com
198.78.215.126 blst.msn.com
65.55.228.63 weather.msn.com
65.55.17.39 weather.service.msn.com

In Start ->Search enter "notepad". Right-click on the found notepad and select "Run as administrator" from the menu. In Notepad, click File ->Open (CTRL + O) and navigate to the C: \ Windows \ System32 \ drivers \ etc \ folder. Open the hosts file and edit.

See also solutionproblem number 9.

There is no "Gadgets" item in the menu, when you right-click on the desktop.

You need to include a platform Gadgets:
Start ->Control Panel ->Programs and components ->Enable or disable Windows features ->find "Windows Gadget Platform" and tick.

After a reboot, 1 or more gadgets may not load, all may not boot. Or maybe everything is OK. And missing gadgets through several restarts normally appear, but some or all of them forget their location and appear in the top left corner.

When loading a hidden glitch, 2 things were given, because of which the gadgets were buggy:
1. Updated on the advice of the Support Center and on the psiservise link provided by him. This is something of Korela.
2. Remove the Direct Console 1.5. This is garbage for some ASUS notebooks. Newer hike with my noutom not compatible, and the old species has been the source for gadgets glitches, although the work properly.

Rep: (785)
Gadgets are not installed, relatives work without problems.

Perform a command prompt with administrator rights:

sfc / scannow

Windows Sidebar or lack thereof.

The sidebar was integrated into Windows Explorer, that is, in Windows 7 there is no one that was in Windows Vista and to which it was necessary to attach gadgets. Instead, they are placed around the entire desktop and can be attached to the side and top of the screen.
However, all gadgets run in the Windows Sidebar process, which is located in the% ProgramFiles% \ Windows Sidebar folder and% ProgramFiles (x86)% \ Windows Sidebar folder (the 32-bit version of Windows Sidebar is used in the 64-bit Windows edition).

Turn on Windows 7 Sidebar when UAC is disabled.

(I’ll clarify that it’s not so much a sidebar (it's already no longer in the usual sense), but the performance of gadgets with UAC disabled)
Apply this registry tweak:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Sidebar \ Settings]
"AllowElevatedProcess" = dword: 00000001

Reboot.

The weather gadget does not work: it writes Service unavailable for your region.

Method 1:
1. Launch Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc
2. End the sidebar.exe process.
3. Launch Sidebar: right click on the desktop ->Gadgets

Method 2:
% WINDIR% \ system32 \ driverc \ etc
add to the hosts file:
207.68.172.246 www.msnweather.com
198.78.215.126 blst.msn.com
65.55.228.63 weather.msn.com
65.55.17.39 weather.service.msn.com

The error “Windows Desktop Gadgets Terminated Program” appears.
Occurs when loading a weather widget.

Delete everything from the folder:
C: \ Users \% UserName% \ AppData \ Local \ Microsoft \ Windows Sidebar \
After that, the sidebar with gadgets will become like after installing the system.

Where can I find a detailed description of the services and services of Windows 7?

tempico Date РІР‚ Aug 24, 2010, 5:15 pm
Hi, I decided to create a description of most of the windows 7 / Vista services ..

The number of services in Windows 7 / Vista has increased compared to Windows XP. In the home version there are 120 services, and in Ultimate (maximum) 129 services (there may be more services if there are additional antivirus, drivers, but there are just as many system services).
Your attention is invited to:
  • The main list of all services Windows Vista / 7,
  • detailed information on each of them (description),
  • service name in the registry
  • "safe" configuration (checked by me personally).

ATTENTION!
Currently this list of services is not a guide to system optimization, by disabling services. It should be considered as reference material, allowing to conclude about the purpose of each service and its importance for the operating system. Since in Windows 7 there is no possibility to create hardware profiles and, as a result, the ability to select the desired profile when the system is booted, changing the type of services launch is now possible only for the current hardware profile. In this regard, any manipulations with services should be carried out with caution, having on hand information about the standard configuration. This information is now at your disposal: thank_you:

Types of service startup

tempico Date РІР‚ Aug 24, 2010, 5:15 pm
There are four types of startup services:
  • Automatically. In this mode, the service starts when the system boots.
  • Automatic (delayed launch). In this mode, the service starts immediately after the system boots.
  • Manually. In this mode, the operating system starts the service if necessary. However, only a small number of services can run in this mode.
  • Disconnected. In this mode, the service does not start even if it is necessary for the system to work, and a corresponding entry is made in the event log (error).
