FAQ on downloading applications and gamesQ: Why do I get the message “Attention needed. Click here »(Attention required. Tap here) when trying to download an application or game?
A: This can happen when you are trying to download an application or a game of large volume - 20 MB or more - to your phone, while you do not have a WIFI connection or your phone has lost the WIFI signal. Applications larger than 20 MB can be installed from the Marketplace to your phone only via WIFI.
To finish downloading and installing your application or game, try the following:
Make sure your phone is connected to the Internet via WIFI (see Connect to a Wi-Fi network).
- On the Start screen (Start), click Marketplace.
- Click Download at the bottom of the screen to see the queue of incomplete downloads.
- In Downloads, press and hold the tile of the application or game, then click Try Again (Retry).
- Item loading should resume. In case this does not happen, repeat step 4. The installed application can be found in the Apps list. Games appear in the Games Hub.
One of the common reasons for the loss of a WIFI connection is the timeout for disabling the screen, which pauses your connection and may disrupt application downloads. If you are going to download to your phone a lot of games and other large applications using a WIFI connection, it is recommended to temporarily increase the screen shutdown timeout or disable it. To find out how, read the Lock screen FAQ.
The note
If you receive an error message that reads as follows: “Activate a WIFI connection or connect your phone to your PC to complete the download” (ignore it). At the moment you are downloading applications or games larger than 20mb is possible only through the Marketplace via WIFI.
Q: Where can I find additional information about an application or game, such as file size or version number?
A: In the Marketplace installed on your phone, details about each application or game can often be more meaningful than basic information, such as a description or rating of the application. If you slide the screen down, you will see the release date (release), version number, file size and information about supported languages. The details also contain information whether the application or the game should be downloaded via a WIFI connection.
Q: Why can't I buy the full version of a trial (trial) application or game?
A: If you have difficulty updating the trial (trial) application or the game to the full (paid) version, delete the trial application, after which you can purchase the full version through the Marketplace. If you have trouble updating the trial version of the application or game, uninstall the application and reinstall the trial version. You can learn how to delete an application or a game in Delete apps.
Q: Why install trial versions of applications?
A: In the Marketplace installed in your phone, the possibility of trial use of the application or game before purchase is provided. During the trial period, you will have the opportunity to purchase the application. Sometimes application developers limit the functionality of the application for the duration of the trial period.
After purchase, the application or game will work without restrictions. All the functionality of the application will be completely at your disposal, including the ability to update the product to a newer version as soon as the update becomes available. When you comment on the application and vote for it (Rate and review app), your vote affects the average rating score of the application, and your comments are available to all users.
In the Zune software on your PC, you can vote for the application or game, as well as comment on them if you use the trial version, as well as after purchasing the application.
