Expocentre is the first facility in Moscow where the 3G network from MTS operates Mobile operator MTS today announced the launch of the third phase of its third generation network (3G) in Moscow in commercial operation, which is located in the Expocenter exhibition complex.
The corresponding permission was issued today by the Office of Rossvyazkomnadzor in Moscow and the Moscow Region.
The operator reports that a fragment of the 3G network covers all the pavilions of the exhibition center on Krasnaya Presnya. Subscribers located in the pavilions of Expocentre will be provided with the possibility of high-speed Internet access, up to 3.6 Mbit per second, at any point of the 3G network.
In the near future, MTS is also awaiting the receipt of permits for commercial operation of 3G networks in two cities of the Moscow Region - Orekhovo-Zuyevo and Noginsk.
MTS promises that by the end of summer, the 3G network from MTS will appear in the 35 largest business centers, transportation hubs and public places of the capital, including in the Domodedovo airport complex, in the Moscow City area, Crocus City, Center International Trade Center, Novinsky Business Center, Arbat-Alfa-Center, Lotte Plaza, TSUM, Atrium, Evropeisky, Moscow, Gorbushkin Dvor, IKEA shopping centers. In addition, MTS will provide 3G communications to the largest Moscow enterprises, including Russian Railways, Sberbank of Russia, AFK Sistema, Sibur, Wimm Bill Dann and others.
MTS received permission to launch the “new generation” network also at stations and sections of the Moscow metro. Sokolnicheskaya branch of the Moscow metro will be the first where MTS will launch a 3G network in test operation.
On May 8, 2008, MTS received UMTS radio frequencies of 2.1 GHz for base stations of cellular networks of the “third generation” in Moscow, Moscow Region, as well as in a number of regions of the Central region of the Russian Federation.
