Solving problems with the "iron" PC

Attached Image

Attention!

To help you, follow these guidelines:
  1. Describe in detail the fault
  2. What started the problem (replacement of components, drops in the network, etc.)
  3. What they did on their own to solve the problem
  4. Fully and fully describe the configuration of the computer (see spoiler below):
    What to report:
    • Motherboard model, revision, BIOS version
    • Model power supply or photo stickers from him, his age
    • Processor model
    • The model of RAM, if there are several strips - the model of each
    • Video card model, or link to it
    • Hard drive model \ s SSD
    • Presence / absence of overclocking of components
    • Operating system version

It is also useful to specify:
    • Hard disk SMART status (how to make)
    • Component temperatures under load
    • If the computer beeps, tell exactly which ones

Automatic collection of information about the system and hardware
    1. Download programSpeccy: Download Portable | What information will be collected?
    2. Run the programSpeccy.
    3. Wait for the program to collect data (3-10 seconds).
    4. PressFile - Post snapshot . Confirm the intention by clicking OK.
    5. The resulting link insert into your message. The program Speccy can close.
    6. Power Supply Information still need to get the method of parsing the PC. Programs do not know how to determine the model of the power supply.

  5. If a BSOD (Blue Screen) appears, you need to dump the memory.
What is it and where to get it:
    • The file with the extension * .DMP, lies in the folderC: \ Windows \ Minidump
    • If there are many files in a folder, then put some of the most recent
    • If there is no file, then check whether dumping is enabled in the system.
      1. Open the folder "This computer" or "My computer"and in the context menu select"Properties". A window will open."System"
      2. On the left side of the window "System" click on the link "Additional system parameters".
      3. In the window "System properties"tab"Additionally" in section "Boot and Restore"click on"Options".
      4. In the window "Boot and Restore"in block"Write debug information"select from the dropdown list"Small memory dump". (Step by step in pictures)
    • If the system does not boot, use any Live CD \ USB system, for exampleUbuntu, in order to pull the file out of the desired folder.
PS: If the computer starts up and works stably with the Live CD \ USB system - this most often means that the problem is software, not hardware (with hardware)

  6. If the problems started after the assembly, disassembly or cleaning of the computer, take high-quality photos of the insides of the PC from different angles. This is necessary in order to detect errors in the assembly and suggest how to fix them.
  7. If the problem is solved, thank the assistant, vote in the header.

Primary PC Failure Analysis
1. You have assembled a new PC, turned it on, but it does not show signs of life
  • Check whether the power supply is on
  • Check if the power is connected to the board (24 pin), processor (4 or 8 pin), video card (6 pin, 8 pin or a combination of them)
  • Check whether the power button is connected to the motherboard

2. You have assembled a new PC, turn it on, it turns on but shows nothing but a black screen, or, it turns on and off cyclically, the fans are twitching
  • Verify overall assembly accuracy and assembly compatibility
  • Check whether you have not forgotten to screw the rack under which it is screwed under the motherboard, if there are any extra oneslike these ones
  • Check the correct connection of the monitor (in the presence of a discrete video card, the monitor should connect to it, and not to the motherboard). An important point regarding the monitor
  • Check if the power supply cable of the processor is not confused with the video card's wire, since they are very similar in appearance.Connectors on the power supply
  • Check if the memory is firmly inserted.
  • Listen to what the bios speaker beeps. If nothing beeps, check without memory (a working motherboard with a working processor should be squeezed when properly connected to the power supply. Accordingly, the bios speaker must be connected to the board in accordance with the manual)

3. If everything at first glance is correct
  • You need to completely disassemble the PC and assemble it without a case on the table — to eliminate the short circuit to the case
  • Check for mechanical damage, especially near the mounting holes on the boards, near the connectors, memory slots. If the PC is assembled from the CU components - check the motherboard and power supply for the presence ofswollen capacitors
  • Check in the minimum configuration (only the processor, one memory bar and a video card, if there is no embedded video)
  • If the Intel processor - remove the processor and carefully inspect the processor socket on the board - whether there is a damaged leg (bent or broken)
  • If the AMD processor - check whether there are no broken or bent legs on the processor itself
  • Make sure the purchased hardware is compatible: see which BIOS version your board supports the installed processor, is the memory compatible, is the power supply healthy, is there enough power, is it good quality

If none of the above steps helped, you can continue the discussion in the topic by running other requirements
Topics on the choice of components

Hello. I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 145 laptop. Recently I burned down my PC and decided to connect it to the laptop using an external box, but it is not detected. I thought that the problem was in Vista, but after reinstalling on XP, the same thing. IDE boxing is determined without problems both there and there.
Please tell me what's the matter, can anyone come across such a problem? Thank!

There are no jumpers on the HDD? If there is, then remove ... You can also update the driver on the usb-device (but it is hardly) ...

Then let's detail ... What specific hard did you connect (sata, ide) and which 2.5 or from a PC? If it is from a PC, then first you need to check if it is working at all, it can get burned together with the PC (you can check it on another PC) ... But if you cling to the laptop (through the box) and it does not appear, then most likely it isn’t worker, but still it is worth checking someone else on the car ...

Yes, hard sat from the PC, connected through the box, but I didn’t check it on another machine ... I don’t have two 120 GB of them at all, I don’t think that both could burn at the same time, but I’ll check, thank you: thank_you:

And you do not miss such an opportunity that not working boxing itself?
When "sticking" the wires of the wind, does it somehow react to boxing?
Mark nevaysa not tell? In the BIOS "box" is visible? Is the power turned on and the hard drive is spinning up?
Simply, as I understand it, in principle, Windows doesn't care what kind of screw is in the box, because the USB cable comes to it and it only determines the external storage device (like a large USB flash drive), only the electronics inside the box are responsible for the work.
P.S. If you do not have external boxes, then check the flash drive even sees.

I'm sorry to be late with the reply. You were right, boxing itself did not work. I had to buy a new one and it all worked.
Thank you all so much for your help and participation. : thank_you:

The same problem with the definition of external boxing, but:
In the Device Manager, it sees both flash drives, and an external box and a native screw.
And in the commander and the conductor there is nothing.

And in the commander and the conductor there is nothing.

This happens if Windows mistakenly assigns a newly inserted drive a letter that conflicts with that of another drive, often a network drive. Go to Disk Management and check the letters. If that, replace the letter from the removable disk. In general, Disk Management will show you whether your disk is in the system not as a piece of hardware, but as a logical device. And if it does not, change the box.

Understood. Windows letters distributes normally to the right and left :)
The whole problem is in the connection sequence.
My system is this: we connect the device to the working computer via USB and at the same time click on the power on the box. Everything shows up. Then, if you disable the box before the computer, then it will no longer be in the system.

Here it is proposed to discuss problems with BB

If something is not loaded, somewhere is buggy, it behaves strangely and, in general, it smells burnt - you are here :)

We describe our problem (the clearer and more detailed it is, the more likely it is that there will be an answer :))

Lords of the PC, the storm of glitches, tamers of bugs - do not forget to come here! Perhaps it is your experience that will help someone deal with their misfortune!

Bulk essays off topic and reasoning about "Intel taxis, AMD is not ice, so everything is buggy," and so on in this spirit - are not welcome!

Feel free to ask and answer!

A small request when describing the problem:
1) Indicate which OS is on the PC;
2) How to describe in more detail what the error is and in what cases it occurs.
For example, if a window with an error flies, it would not be bad to write down \ remember \ scroll its contents and reproduce it here.
So it will be easier to understand each other :)

P S: If we make a screen, then we monitor its size and weight! Someone may be sitting with KMK :)

Р  S: If your PC does not boot at all and some inscription in English comes out on the black screen - check the PC for the presence of the installed OS;)
Yes, the Windows distribution kit (and further along the list) and the Live CD will arrive with you just in case !!!

Warez software for PC, like the OS itself, is not welcome on the forum!

In fact, the mnu has the following problem: During the boot up, the PC freezes. I reboot - I load the safe mode - I reboot - I enter the normal mode. This shamanic action seems to save.
I suspected that there were problems with hard, but nothing was revealed (hard checked for sectors and for errors and other PCs).
So I think, what can we do with the controller?
But from the error log:

It seems you can try to restore the bootloader from the installation disk.

Already restored and formatted and reinstalled, and others installed Windows - no, this bug is alive!
By the way, if the shamanism described by me is produced - the Windows will be loaded without recovery! That is the miracle of something!

Advise good utilitki.

Good utilities arenative branded utilitiesfrom the manufacturer of your screw.
For a change, MHDD or Victoria, for example, is doing quite well.
I would also advise trying to replace the screw on the cable from the drive, or to another connector on the mother.

On the other, the connector was transplanted. I did not try to loop the truth. HDD Tune did not see bad sectors, SMART test revealed nothing. Now I have downloaded the branded utilities, let's see what they write there.

Freezes while loading PC

From the experience of servicing customers' computers, I can advise you to start by checking the mains supply: if the socket is sparking, if a surge protector is installed, check its connections, including the fuse. I have seen many such "miracles".
Further, if possible, check the RAM. Let's say a part is pulled out, a part is left.
And then - pull the connectors, including nutrients, with the obligatory inspection of contacts for burning or oxidation.

Hmm, by the way did not even think about it. I have a clever construction of wires and everything to one outlet (there are only 2 in the room<_<). It seems not sparking.
* By the way, now everything is working perfectly without shamanism. I do not understand: wacko:
* Download branded utility WD. There I did not find anything good.
