As the moderator advised me, I open a separate topic. Very interesting your opinion about my work. Relatively recently opened a new exhibition "Lanterns" (http://m1kle.ru/gallery/album.php?al=1).Thank you in advance.

No offense, but did not like. Most of the shots are lame with composition and almost all with quality (shuffle, no sharpness). In principle, the idea is clear, interesting, but the embodiment ...

I understand you, but, nevertheless, how do you feel about the seventh photo? Wash it is the best in the album.

If you are talking about the photo "Budapest, a lonely lantern", then it would clearly not have been disturbed by either HDR or some more interesting framing, because there is too much blackness below.
And black leaves against the sky still have some potential.

Maybe something like this:

Also do not be offended. Absolutely agree with Solar_x.

I corrected your posts - lay out photos for discussion.

I would suggest, say, this option for framing:

Flashlight

kochrob,I would try to focus on the light circle around the luminaire in which the old cards lie, and the rest of the space would be plunged into darkness ... Add grains, "scratches" ... Usually memories are associated with the old. Old photos are monochrome, and usually in sepia or yellowed. Still, IMHO, to remove unnecessary items - a ruler and a pencil, and pictures - on the contrary, more to put.

... What do you think? Here are just a strong glare in the photos confuse ...

They confuse me, but this is not a staged photo. I visited with my parents and paid attention to such a composition. Since there was no time to engage in the light, and only an iPhone in my hands, I limited myself to putting aside the little tape recorder that was dropped from the topic.
Of course, photography requires adjustments in Adobe Photoshop, but not trimming in ACDSee.

Yeah, good processing means a lot. And what was added "gloom"? Ordinary photoshop brush?
And also, how were the "spots" on the lamp made, which created volume for it instead of overexposure?

And the last thing - what are [photoshop?] Effects on a photo with a flashlight? I see something like a soft filter on the leaves and the rays from the lantern itself ..

And what was added "gloom"? Ordinary photoshop brush?

Yes and no". Here work with layers and blending modes, creating a vignetting effect (dimming at the corners) with the completion of the “gloom” in the right places with a brush with 30% transparency and strong blurring of the edges.
Shedal @ 7.2.2009, 23:43*
And also, how were the "spots" made on the lamp, which created her album instead of overexposure?

Again: layers and blending modes. A separate layer is used texture-snapshot of old wallpaper, and then work with the transparency of the layer and masks. Grain is a consequence of applying the filter Noise, blur to it and again - layers, overlay, transparency. Scratches - hand made :-) Then toning through hue / saturation. Frame - ready. Plugin for photoshop.
Shedal @ 7.2.2009, 23:43*
And the last thing - what are [photoshop?] Effects on a photo with a flashlight? I see something like a soft filter on the leaves and the rays from the lantern itself ..

A duplicate of the main layer was created and the Gaussian blur filter was applied on it (I don’t remember the value). Then, according to the layer mask, the blues are removed from the light source itself, from the lantern. This is the simplest "soft filter". Then a little corrected Levels, which added a "haze".
A separate layer is the lantern itself. With it, Motion blur and then cloning the result of the blur in different planes and mask layers of "rays-glow" - a gradient to more blur the "rays" to the ends. Then work with the curves (Curves) - to achieve the effect of light overexposure in the center of the flashlight.

Not. This I lamented to myself. (When I posted a photo, I was sitting in a weak car. Therefore, from the adjustment, only trimming in ACDSee was available).
Solar_X, could you arrange your excellent shamanism with a lantern forhere?

Short pack, this shamanism took away from me almost 2.5 hours of time, and I did not save the result. If I knew that the processing would be so interesting, I would have done some screenshots for the forum ...

Whether it is in auto portals, or in monochrome emotions, or in lanterns ...

And by the way, if someone tells you how to stylize this, I will be very grateful.

As I understand it - are you in the picture? Frankly, this work leads me to thoughts of a drunk person under the lantern, but not at all the thought of being alone in the metropolis ... Sorry, of course, for such a comment, it's just that I'm probably the old alcoholic.

Here, confirming his addiction to Dewar's 12 Special Reserve, put up two options. Drunk creative, so to speak ... First - an attempt to cross-process from a b / w snapshot.

Well, and then your creative finally rolls over. Eclipse ...;)

in general, you can make candy! stand with your wife on both sides of the pillar, back to each other. Measurement made by, say, the snow under your feet (or by the lantern itself - you have to try), or allowance for exposure ... in my opinion there will be very much nothing. it is possible and one, but not sitting!

Thanks for the processing, it turned out interesting :)
